Youtube app coming to Vita

Share

We have all been waiting for HTML5 support for the Vita browser and as “promised” from Sony that we will have HTML5 support for streaming videos, I’m here to put that speculation to speculate, It’s not coming anytime soon. over at IGN.com has news for us that a app Is coming soon, soon as the end of June. It was great finding out that you can download videos onto your Vita to watch, but that’s obviously time consuming and a little out there just to watch . I know that a Youube app was expected but It was just a matter of time before they announced It.

So say goodbye to downloading and say hello to streaming! Everything that Is Included In this app Is all that you need to have including video search, uploading, favorites, comments and utilizing your YouTube account. It’s all here! So be patient, It will come sooner then you think ;)

About damn time. Sony’s really dragging their feet fulfilling all the promises made by the Vita.

Sony didn’t promise Youtube! just either Flash or HTML5 which then would make your comment valid!

        True

Flash suggests that YouTube would work, as it requires Flash to work (at least on web browsers it does). Plus, the Vita is more or less a tablet with really powerful gaming capabilities. Pretty much every tablet ever either comes with a built in YouTube app, or very quickly made one available. The Vita has been out for four months now. Compared to other tablets, that’s an extremely long amount of time. They promised Skype capabilities, but they only just came out with that app in the last month or less. That’s why I say they’re dragging their feet.

Your post implies Sony promised YouTube.

        Also,

the PS Vita runs on a different OS and Hardware making developers spend time learning how to code on it and efficiently. Flash does not always suggest YouTube for everything. Flash is also used for website design. HTML5 is supposed to be a replacement for Flash since Adobe doesn’t support mobiles anymore.

Every software coming out for the Vita strongly depends on the developers and their resources. I’m sure Sony has little to no influence on how fast they crank out the software in time for us to enjoy. Just try learning basic HTML using notepad.exe so you can understand and get an idea of how time consuming it is to learn brand new coding properly and efficiently.

Very well said not only that the Vita is Primarily a Video Game Console not a primary app machine like iphones or tablets, if people bought the vita expecting every app at once they are very unappreciated and impatient. Not only that why buy a vita if your only worried about the apps? really?

Technically speaking, they didn’t have to learn the coding for apps such as Skype and YouTube because I’m 99% positive that those apps existed already on the Japanese PSN. Therefore, all they SHOULD have to do is translate them into English for the American PSN. If instead they’re coding entirely new versions of the apps for the American PSN, then that seems like a tremendous waste of time and resources in my opinion. I’m no coder, but I still think it would be easier to convert a pre-existing app into an English version. But my original point still stands: It’s taking quite a long time for them to get very many apps available. When I read all the pre-release information on the Vita, it was said that it would be designed to be a portable gaming console that could also effectively take on the tablet market as well. They have gaming down to a science, but they’re not making a very big impact in the tablet division. THAT is why I’m saying they seem to be taking a long time to get any really good apps out on the Vita. If they want to target the tablet demographic as well as the gamer demographic and they want to stand a chance in the tablet market, they need to try to pick up the pace. And I only said Sony because they built the machine and run the PSN market. I’m well aware that Sony doesn’t actually develop very many of the apps for the Vita. I was merely using them as a catch-all term for the developers since everything has to go through Sony in the end anyway.
