PSP Developer Yoshihro has released his XGEN UPDATER and (). This tool will install Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B2 directly onto your compatible PSP without any patches or having to run the 5.50 GEN-A installer etc. It also has an option to install XGEN Pandora. Please note in order to install 5.50 GEN-B2 you’ll all so need to download PSP Firmware 5.50 which is below.

Release notes:

This tool lets you install the firmware 5.50 GEN-B2 Full directly without any patch
and on any psp so PSP fat and psp slim TA-79 > TA-88V2 from any custom firmware or kernel exploit .
for the firmware 5.50 put your 5.50 updater on root of your memory stick renamed 550.PBP .
you can use it to restore any official firmware too on slim and fat .
you can use it to install install any TT’s firmware on fat psp you need to put your eboot.pbp
on roots of your memory stick like that X:/EBOOT.PBP .
you can also converter your old DC8 magic memorystick in shiny 5.50GEN B-2.
just select in the XGEN option Install XGEN pandora and restart your psp dont forget
to put the 5.50 eboot.pbp updater on root of your ms renamed in 550.pbp.
to bypass the battery check please connect your AC cord.

Only certain PSP models can create Pandora Batteries, please use the below chart as a quick reference.

    ?? kood some pls post a video or a step by step guide on this my friend has a pap 1001 and OFW 5.50 but he don’t want me to turn his battery in to a Pandora and i don’t fully under stand what this is saying to do and i don’t want to brick my best friends only psp any help would be much appreciated

      you still need pandora

      edit:what you need to do :if tou have hacked psp fat or slim with TA085v1 you just put his batery in your psp and use pan_installer to make it pandora after than install dc8 on a memory stick
      if you don’t have the requaried psp thought you have to make the batery in hardware way
      the other option is to buy pandora from the internet

    Must check your MOBO out before doing this, and have a pandora battery at hand and mem stick..
    Cool little app without the hassle! BUT if you are not clued up on flashing etc… get someone who does, or educate yourself…

    We all must try to keep the homebrew Comm alive, it is slowly dieing Sony are at the Moment winning the war…

    i have a psp 1001 with 5.50 gen b and i put the update folder in my game folder and the 550.pbp file on the root but it shos up as corrupted data can n e 1 help?

      try renaming the other pbp file to 550. That happened to me b4 too

    ultimakillz has a detailed tutorial on all models of the psp this is the bible of putting cfw on the psp I would suggest to all to read that tutorial it is the best that I have ever seen it is filled with all the info and has all the answers to every possible question with cfw for the psp..

    Nice. this’ll save me a lot of time in my PSP hacking buisness because i used to have memory sticks all with M33 on them and then all the updates for Gen now i wont have to do that anymore

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I HAVE A TA-88V2 PSP2000 AND I INSTALLED 5.50 OFW ON IN IT and now i cant run the xGEN UPDATE. Fuuuuck I have 5.50wofw and I knew i shoulda just stayed using chickhen on 5.03.Why the fuck did you say this tool will install on any psp? Now Im stuck with OFW please someone HELP ME!!.

    Please help someone. Ihave a PSP slim TA-085, I am not sure if its V1 or V2. I installed this on a 5.00 M33, and in the system information everything looks great, but not cso, or iso are staring.

    If you are having trouble playing games (ISO or CSO) use the VSH menu (press select anywhere in psp menu) and change “UMD ISO MODE” to “M33 driver”.

    Do you need some kind of CFW already installed or it just installs from OFW using a Pandora battery? From what I understand this app should make a MMS that installs 5.50 GEN-B instead of 5.00M33 right?

    PSP 3000 owners are always asking about any hack. if there is a hack that would be a huge news to the PSP world. as of now, it is still unhackable, if you like to play free games, buy a PSP 1000 or 2000.

    Guys…I never really post on these forums. I always just kind of read around and see what’s going on. I just wanted to tell you there is a new strategy to solve the 3000 problem with loading newer firmware and may even work on the go. I am not really much of a homebrew developer, but me and my friends excel in working with c++, java, and linux programming. We have found a way to modify homebrew so the psp doesn’t reject it. Instead of trying to find a glitch in the firmware, we are just making it so the firmware sees the homebrew as “sony approved” and just runs. Hopefully from this we can run cfw enablers for higher firmware (if they are developed indeed and the bullshit fakes stop coming) to run on the psp 3000s. This is still in very early early development, but shoes promise of success. Video in 1 week once tested on psp.

      hi to test the files that u guys have made or other people have made and gave it to you is it possible if i can try it on my PSP 3000 i am willing to let you know what is the outcome and whether it works for all the PSP. basically i dont mind getting the CFW files early to test it for you before u release it to the masses.

    okay guys im stuck at custom fimeware 3.52 m33 i cant get to 5.00 m33 because it wont let me go to 3.52 m33-2 but anyway can i use this to go right to 5.50 GEN-B2?

      YES, as long as you have the pandora’s battery it shouldn’t matter.
