Vita Firmware 1.60 does NOT patch the exploit, HBL still alive

Share

As we recently announced, the latest firmware, version 1.60, was released today in Japan. One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind was this: does this firmware patch the exploit through which the is run? Now we have our answer: NO! teck4, the developer behind the original exploit (to which the HBL has been ported) has confirmed via twitter that the exploit is “still alive” in firmware 1.60. Great news!

With only a few weeks before the Vita is released worldwide, this puts us all one step close to being able to play homebrew on out brand new Vitas! As always, keep it here for the latest news from the PSV scene!

Sony would have to relese a new PSP firmware as well as PS vita to patch the exploit

Does opencma r3 and remote play still work with this update?

I image it would be a few weeks after its release?

Maybe Sony is gonna let the hackers run rampant with the PSP Emulator. They know it’s what’s making the PSP sell like hotcakes!

    That’s a good news.

  • Cf3fute

Why would anyone want crappy looking HB on a graphical power house like the vita? I could see if you guys were AAA developers, but the Vita is for HD gaming and other “HD” things. Yeah, sure it looked nice on the PSP because the PSP was not that powerful. SMH

    • Squiggs

If it is so easy to hack do it yourself…..oh your not then. Get of there back. This could be the opertunity to install cfw because if you might rumeber before the Sony license code was found there had to be some other system of getting past the sucurity. Finally if you having nothing nice to say you can put a sock in it quit being the kind of person who makes developers quit

      • Cf3fute

Did I say it was easy? Nope. Reading comprehension will get you places. I probably could reprogram the FW if I really wanted to. I help develop ROM’s for Android OS’s which is more complex than what Sony uses for their FW’s. All I was saying is that, why would you want blocky HB games and apps, instead of HD platforming? Waste of space imo.

      • Hazeslasher

I’m sure people would like to have HD games and apps running on it as well. For sure. However it’s always convenient to have the HB apps from the past (or new ones) that you actually *enjoyed* along with the HD stuff on one device. It’s not really a matter of picking one over the other in my opinion. And a lot of those HB apps/games don’t take much space at all, so i’m sure people will still be able to get a considerable amount of HD content on there as well.

      • Cf3fute

True. I guess I could give it sometime for the devs to master the software.  I’m just worried about last gen apps running on the next gen. I did like  CSPSP, that was fun, but I think If they do make some HB games, they need to use the Unity engine, that most Android games use. The quake engine is really outdated now, and some modern software should be used.

      Get off Sony’s dick faggot

      • Cf3fute

Pretty sure Sony doesn’t have a “dick.” I make that assumption based on the realization that Sony is a corporation, rather than a mammal. With that said, maybe if you used Sony as a symbolization piece, you could give “it” a “body”, then in essence it could have a dick. Judging from your previous comment, your minute brain might be able to grasp what I’m saying.

Shit, we got Mister Literal over here.

      • Alicia

if you don’t like sony in anyway you shouldn’t own anything from them in the 1st place.

    • squiggs

Ok so you think you could take a new device whith new code style and take it apart and in a few weeks put out a cfw. If so qreat if not cram it

  • Niko

    What is Sony scheming?

  • squiggs

this can be good and bad. i do not want to se iso never ever ever… why because as soon as there are iso’s there will be no more good games. game devloping will seem like a waste of time and money IE like the psp. if hbl runs fine as in there is no having to restart your device when you leave the program no 1in 5 chanse for it working and all emulators work. if i see that i will start supporting it a lot more. the thing that i am looking for is a realy fast n64 and developing ps2, game cube, dream cast, and xbox emulators because we all remember the great games on those systems and we all know how some of the best xbox games do not work on the 360. a psp iso emulator would be good but that i can live with out. and if you are paying atention to the world new there are many things going on with the fcc and iphone hacks they are pushing to make it so there is no punishment for jail braking(bricking, partial bricking, or online banning). and in fact the comapies can be punished for havin those preoblems. along with that there are many scandles with androids and key loggers and file transfer loggers witch might make sony back out of the internet requirement to move files on your psv. but you do got to admit the psv is a pocket computer . one thing i look forward for is a note pad++ like app for html programing, a graphing calculator, and many fun camera apps. so hbl should go full speed ahead and if you have the money donate to help the cause just don’t ruin the psv scene with iso’s. so in the end it all just takes time we will see how sony reacts to every thing, and hopefuly turn a blind eye to hbl to raise the number of sales, and will learn from there mistakes and the mistakes of ther companies. and remember there is nothing like a sony product weather it is gaming, cell phones, headphones, tv’s, or camerass, they just get better with time. and besides who else do you think can make a hand held system this power ful and full of fetures…. nentendo maybe in your dreams 3d is not enough to sell me a hand held where 90% of the games are remakes of n64.

    • Xuduex

I wish this was the sentiment espoused by the entire community. All I want are unique apps and emulation, period. I don’t need to steal the games I just want to be able to play Space Megaforce or possibly Ocarina of Time where ever I go.

      • squiggs

nowthat i have a job steeling isos feel silly

  • Darkus

in my opinion, Sony is allowing this, just as they allowed the firmware on the PSP. custom firmwares are the main reason why the psp is selling so much, it freakin outsold the Vita twice and it even outsold the PS2 recently. THE PS2.

  • Hazeslasher

this is great. Sony is probably allowing the emulation of old games that are out of print from other companies, and homebrews to help the vita sell. Just hoping it sticks to the homebrew/old game emulation scene..i’m afraid if it goes any further (i.e. the whole iso/cso abuse thing) sony will be pulling out their pitchforks :(

  • No

yall need to be happy as hell sony doesnt care as much as they used to. this is freakin awesome.

  • Squiggs

They can’t patch it because the have no info on it they download any hack that comes out so they can defuse it and see what makes it tick so they can patch it. Sony can’t get any info on the exploit based upon the video of hbl running. They know just as much as we do. And second 9 times out of 10 they remove what can cause the hack( pandora battery, image exploit, and some game save exploit) some times they would patch the demos or games but they often they remove them from PSN. So don’t get your pan ties in a not, calm down and take a breath let the hackers take there time and do not haras them to release any thing. By the way this is for the people who are asumeing what Sony is doing

just a little of topic here. But the preorder bonus in sweden is the game rayman origins :D

Imagine Twilight Princess on the go, or Shadow of the Colossus while you are on the sub, or play metal gear solid 3 in while on you are on a plane, or just play any conceivable game before the 360 or PS3 whenever you want :P PPPPPPPP

консолька вита хорошая,  буду брать на  BayRu по хорошей цене ибо цены в россии очень дороги

  • Sarge786

As a total newbie to this device, Can some one tell me if this is a viable alternative to say a tab? for example a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G? I am looking for one of them with 3G, GPS, Bluetooth and Android, and what I was thinking was if the PSVita would do same as the Tab, with the added benefit of the games side?

  • Monica

Has there been any news of wether or not 1.61 patches the exploit?
