As planned Sony have released PSP Firmware 5.0 via the network update feature or download below. Release changes:

* The [PlayStation Network] category has been added, and [PlayStation Store] is now available under this category.
* The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music]
* The system will automatically change to USB mode when a USB cable is connected.
* The [Original] theme has been redesigned

If your really keen to have it you can download it below, otherwise wait for 5.00 M33.

PSP store rep Grace Chen has added a recent video on the PSP Blog showing us the features of the PSP Store that will come in , by the way PSP Firmware 5.0 will be released tomorrow and hopefully 5.00 M33 will follow soon.

Here’s some proof posted by French site PSPGen running PSP firmware 5.0 on a test tool PSP. Remember this is not an official release, so bear in mind when Firmware 5.00 is public it could be quite different to what we see now.

French team PSPGen allegedly have some info on , we’ll call this a rumor for now. But apparently PSP firmware 5.0 will bring direct PSN access and a new RSS reader capable of reading of text articles. (the current version is limited to viewing audio, videos and images)

So where is this info coming from? Well PSPGen’s team have a development version of the PSP firmware used for testing tool units. So its not public firmware but a possible future 5.00 firmware.
