Keep Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B active even after reboot!

This is just awesome, Zer01ne’s has released Sedna for 5.03 GEN-A/B. What this wicked plug-in does is keep ChickHEN and 5.03 GEN-A or B active. Even if you reboot your PSP-3000. So that whole gamble of trying to get chickHEN R2 to run is over!! You PSP-3000 and TA-088v3 owners are going to love this. And it install just like any other plug-in simple and straight forward.

and copy this line ms0:/seplugins/Sedna.prx 1 in the file X:\seplugins\vsh.txt, X:\seplugins\game.txt

X = Letter of your PSP in Computer

-How to use it
Is it independent, you nothing to do has been have activated, it work in background.

Some Reboot/Shutdown is still executed despite the patches apply.

Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B has been released. This custom firmware update for PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA-088v3 owners now lets users play original firmware 5.55+ games with out the need of Game Decrypter. So no more eboot patching and rebuilding ISO’s with UMDGen. Your now level with 5.50 GEN-D2 users, same options more or less.

Known Bugs:

* MGS demo refuses to run
We’ve tried everything and what works in 5.50GEN-D2 has not worked in the 5.03GEN-B. Pity …

* The Recovery mode menu is “mixed”
The RECOVERY MODE 5.02GEN-A has been patched to run on the PSP-3000. It can change the most usual options but we encounter some problems with this VSH Recovery in and we have not managed to fix it. In fact, the menu sees some of his lines not properly allocated and others who do not work. Note that on a PSP-3000, the recovery is useless, or nearly so, since all the useful features found in the VSH menu or in Ultimate VSH menu Total_Noob of Total_Noob we strongly recommend that you install.

Remember in order to update to 5.03 GEN-B you need to have 5.03 GEN-A already up and running. *Not needed you can go straight to 5.03 GEN-B. Here are some tips to get on the road to CFW 5.03 GEN-B :

1. Ok first up you’ll need a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with a TA-088v3 *duh…
2. Now make sure your running Firmware 5.03 or less (On FW 5.03+ Sorry this isn’t for ya. ChickHEN only works on 5.03!)
3. Install chickHEN R2 and get it running. This will help: Guide to running ChickHEN R2
4. Once in the Homebrew Enabled Environment aka HEN, run GEN-B. Simple!

Oh and while your at it, Team GEN recommends you install this: Ultimate VSH Menu Revised by Total_Noob, it will give you some useful VSH Menu functions since the Recovery Menu is practically useless….

Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B Release delayed.

PSPGen have just recently posted that the release of Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B for ChickHEN has been delayed. The reason behind this was they found a recovery bug that prevented certain games from playing. One of which was the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo. Instead of releasing it today and later needing to release 5.03 GEN-B2. Team GEN have decided it would be best to wait, fix it and have it ready for release tomorrow.

This is not a problem with the CFW but a recovery bug. If you remember,  the recovery of 5.03GEN-A already had a problem: all option lines were shuffled. The correction of this problem comes with another bug in some options like the “use version.txt” which doesn’t work anymore and prevents the launch of the MGS.

5.03 GEN-B is now set for release tomorrow night (French time that is) We’ll keep you posted and have it up for download the moment its released.

MaGiXien has give word on a 5.03 GEN-B demo video he made (embedded above), which shows 5.03 GEN-B in action. The video demonstrates a ChickHEN R2 enabled PSP, running 5.03 GEN-B running various firmware 5.55+ games without any issues. The same feature that 5.50 GEN-D has. No more patching games for PSP-3000 owners once its released. And just a few more days to wait now as its due October 31st.

Oh and remember in order to use this you’ll need 3 things:

1) A PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 TA-088v3
2) Running Firmware 5.03 or less. This is important. If your on 5.50 or 6.10 your tough out of luck I’m afraid.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Released.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D has just been released, the release that should have been the cursed 5.50 GEN-C release. This custom firmware now lets users play back up UMD’s that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 without patching the eboot.

So you save yourself a few steps in playing 5.55+ games. No more extracting the games eboot, using game decrypter to patch the eboot. Then finally re-building the ISO. None of that is needed anymore, thanks to GENyUS

Remember this is for PSP-1000’s, PSP-2000 (Pre TA-88v3) and NOT PSP-3000’s

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Features:

All features of 5.50GEN-B2 are available.

Compatibility with games requiring firmware 5.51 with no additional handling (now, you don’t need Game Decrypter)

Compatibility with most of games normally protected and refusing to be ran on a Custom Firmware (Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Calibur, etc). Yoshihiro has created a system to run them and he succeed to make this system more stable and it’s now compatible with all PSP, unlike the 5.50 GEN-C.

Possibility to connect at the Playstation Store via MEDIAGO, to retrieve game and goodies without having to install Fake USB or other complicated stuff.

Support for 480×272 AVC video playback.

Ok installed and tested, my plug-ins all seem to work. RemoteJoy lite .19, Game Catagores v4, Ultimate VSH. And emulators, PSX and iso seems to run fine.

While everyone is waiting for Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D to release in *hopefully* 1 hour, PSPGen have posted a new video showing us a new feature they have added to 5.50 GEN-D. 480x272 res AVC video support. Yoshihiro demonstrates this in the above video. However this new video support comes at a cost. Since its a last minute correction to the new 5.50 GEN-D firmware. It might not be released today, since it would require further testing.

While AVC support is great, DivX or Xvid support would really make my day.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D is coming tomorrow according to PSPGEN.com’s post just made about 15 minutes ago. They have commented that all the bugs present in the cursed 5.50 GEN-C release have been fixed. And it can play firmware 5.55, 6.00 and 6.10 games work without any eboot patching with Game Encrypter needed. Stay tuned to us and we’ll have the download as soon as its released, around 8pm GMT +1 October 21st. Our alarm clock is set!

• IR Shell can’t no longer launch ISOs, but a patch is ready and will be released as soon as possible
• Video playback 480x272 in trouble but a fix is being studied
• Option to accelerate the reading of MS is going to be ported to 5.50GEN

If you get a blackscreen when you start the installer, that’s because you are in 5.50 GEN-B(1) and not in 5.50 GEN-B2. So update to B2, and install the custom firmware 5.50 GEN-D.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Coming to fix the issues.

GENyUS and Yoshihiro have released an apology and explanation for Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C which was basically a bug ridden and very problematic release. I even saw some users referring to it as 5.50 GEN-Crap – With is pretty harsh.

Anyway GENyUS and Yoshihiro are now working to quickly release Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D to fix all the issues that were present. Were not likely to see a release till its well and truly tried and tested. A bug free release. We’ll keep you updated.

PSPGen’s apology and explanation for Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C’s issues: (Translated from French)

First we present our apologies for this release that posed more problems than we expected. To be very frank, in our tests made in the same manner as other times, we had satisfactory results, but several factors intervened between the announcement of the online one. We will try to explain the why of how this release cursed.

Firstly, the original version that was being posted was well prepared for this announcement and we had given 24 hours of additional testing to verify that everything worked well. This first release does not launch the protected games but all games 5.55 +. In the process, Yoshihiro out how to counter the protections we have decided to announce and release in the edit function. So this is where we fished for if everything worked in our tests, it is found that certain protections of our CFW have come to panic under certain conditions and also depending on the model of PSP. Moreover, to avoid (too much) delay the release, we dropped the baby without giving her a test period of time. Accept our apologies for this.

In our defense, there are several types of errors, some of which we are not attributable to:

* You have a black screen by launching the updater
You are in Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-B and not in B2. It was enough to qse B2 therefore to resolve the concern.
* You have a semi brick ( “I have the clock …”)
You had left a personalized theme and therefore it was enough to format the flash1 via Recovery menu. Do not have a personal theme during a flash console is part of b and ba and we had forgot to report it. Nothing serious, however, because the Recovery remained accessible and / or restart without his MS usually enough to break the deadlock.
* You bricked your console
The installer of 5.50GEN has no CFW our bug and can not be directly responsible for that. Everything is working 200%, you can be sure Clearly, note that if you have bricked is probably due to a failure of your nand that would have occurred at any other attempt to flash your console including an official.

Note that GENyUS and Yoshihiro currently working to ensure that these mistakes are forgotten as quickly as possible and we will post the Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-D when everything will be validated and verified. A priori, this should not be long and, again, be assured that we are sorry for any panic.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C Released.

GENyUS and PSPGEN have released Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C. While nothing is new in this custom firmware from Sony. 5.50 GEN-C update is a substantial move forward. As it now lets users play back up UMD’s that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 without patching the eboot.

So you can save yourself a few steps in playing 5.55+ games. No more extracting the games eboot, using game decrypter to patch the eboot. Then finally re-building the ISO. None of that is needed anymore, thanks to GENyUS. So delete that Game Decrypter v4 from your hard-drive as you don’t need it anymore. At least for firmware 5.55, 6.00 and 6.10 games.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C issues, lock ups and games not running:

Ok so this isn’t PSPGen’s best release its full of bugs…. so expect an update soon. In the next few days I would think. Here are some tips to get around the ISO/ CSO lock ups and the game could not be started error (8002013C). Try using the M33 ISO driver, in the VSH menu or recovery menu set your UMD ISO mode to M33 driver. That should help. See the below video.

This is release is just loaded with bugs. I suggest you wait for 5.50 GEN-D, but if you like you can still download 5.50 GEN-C from the mirror above…But we warn you its buggy; No internet, CSO don’t work, games randomly crash and lock up your PSP, possible flash1 corruption and a semi bricks.

Game Decrypter v3 Released. Patch 5.55 & 6.00 Games to work on CFW.

Yoshihiro is back, this time basing his work off the resent Eboot patcher he has released Game Decrypter v3. Which will decrypt and patch eboots that will now work on Dark_AleX’s custom firmware 5.00 M33. It also has better compatibility with 5.03 GEN-A which might have been problematic before. And since you don’t have to use the windows eboot patcher, you can use this without a Windows OS.

OK so you know have two options offered to you to decipher your EBOOT.BIN. Either, patch the eboot to play on 5.50GEN-B or patch it for 5.00M33 and 5.03GEN

Compatibility with 5.03GEn is now complete (or not so far). Thanxs to Revenge-crew for their patch on my v2 that i use for V3)

How i can use this tool ?

• Install the GameZDecryptZ folder in your X:PSP/GAME  folder
• Open you iso with UMDGEN 4
• Go to File>File List>Export
• Save it as Filelist.txt
• Extract the EBOOT.BIN with UMDGEN4 in PSP_GAME/SYSDIR
• Put your EBOOT.BIN extracted from UMDGEN PSP_GAME/SYSDIR and put it on root of your memory stick
• Now you can boot game decrypter now you can press X 5 seconds later it’s done
• Connect your usb cable check on root of your memory stick you have a new folder called decryptor
• Copy the eboot.bin from the decryptor folder inside umdgen
• Go to File>File List>Import
• Choose Filelist.txt
• Select YES to forcing LBAs, then Save
• Rebuild your ISO
