USB Version Fake for PS3

m33-custom-psp-firmware USB Version Fake for PS3

Custom Firmware and Homebrew master Dark_AleX has released a new custom firmware plugin called USB Version Fake. Its compatible with 4.01 M33 and will allow users to fake their PSP’s firmware version for PlayStation 3 connectivity. Handy as the PS3 will often check which firmware version your using and make sure its the lastest. Which might be something of a problem if your on PSP Custom Firmware.

Custom Firmware 4.00 M33 - Update from DAX

m33 Custom Firmware 4.00 M33 - Update from DAX Dark_AleX has updated his blog in regards to all the questions he is receiving about 4.00 M33 custom firmware. Rather than rephrase it, here’s what Dark_AleX has to say about 4.00 M33:

Just a little update. Watching how many people were asking for 4.00m33, it’s interesting to make somethings clear.

Due to the lack of updates from sony (features), this new cfw will implement new changes that will make easier to work on the future ones, within some internal tools.

You’d have probably noticed some features of this new cfw that were told on french forums, but, to tell the truth, neither the savestates or the recovery on XMB or etc would at 100% probability be implemented at once (maybe later on m33-2, … etc)

Even though, recovery will be translated to spanish and you will be able to translate it to any other language without hex editing.

To sum up, main changes will come for compatibility and internal issues (with some functions to make life easier to the shells creators, launchment of an utility to compress prx’s and pbp’s, etc.)

It will be likely be done by the end of this week.

So there you have it, its likely it will be out by the end of the week.

TimeMachine v0.1, 1.5 Kernel On PSP Slim

m33-custom-psp-firmware TimeMachine v0.1, 1.5 Kernel On PSP Slim

Dark_AleX has release TimeMachine. Its a homebrew application that allows users to load previous firmware releases from the memory stick using Pandora.

From Dax’s readme:

The Timemachine is a program to load previous firmwares and custom firmwares from memory stick
using pandora. Like devhook, but working throgh pandora and custom ipl’s, it would work even if the
flash and nand ipl of the machine is destroyed.
The timemachine is useful to run software that is not supported anymore, and also as a way of
booting psp’s even if the internal firmware is destroyed. It can also be useful for developers
to test their homebrew in different firmwares.

Currently the timemachine can install the following firmwares:

- Original 1.50 (can only be loaded on the phat)
- 1.50 with some 3.40 hw modules. Can be loaded on both, phat and slim.
- 3.40 OE (can only be loaded on phat)
- 3.60 M33 (can only be loaded on slim)

Rest of cfw will be added in the future.

Requeriments of time machine:

- The timemachine itself doesn’t require any firmware, only a pandora battery.
Timemachine nand boot in slim, requires, however, 3.90 M33-2 or greater.
- The timemachine installer requires 2.71 SE or higher.

Instructions: Copy the TIMEMACHINE folder to /PSP/GAME and run.

Thanks finalgamerX for the heads up!

* Problem fixed with lines with spaces at the end.

- (PSP SLIM): Added patches in nand ipl to allow Booster multiiplloader and TimeMachine iplloader to boot from nand.

Note: only 3.90 M33-2 and higher can be booted from nand in slim with those ipl loaders,
not official Sony firmwares or previous versions of M33.

Changes in updater:
