Server network overload

Share

I’m fully aware and ripping my hair out here over the servers uptime issues. I’m not 100% sure its an attack as my tech has discribed or an attack on their network. Or their network is suffering massive speed issues / overloading. But the connection to our dedicated server is horrible at them moment. We are meant to have a 10mbs uplink port, at any rate its been running far less than this speed.

It could well be due to the server being hit by some type of attack. Logs to show some strange activity and attempted flooding of the connection.

Its looks like I’m going to have to bite the bullet and buy another dedicated server. This time something more reliable and with a firewall to try and stop ddos attacks. Of it will be course more expensive, around 150 usd per month + set up fees we will be running at a loss…… At least we should be back up at least!! (My wife will kill me when she sees the visa bill lol)
Please feel free to comment if this damn network and server is working for you.

This server seems to be working fine. Its a damn shame if hackers would target a site such as this for an attack. I love the PSP SLIM HACKS website. Its in my favorites and is the first thing I check when I get home. One suggestion: A paypal donation link? It might help with the fees a little. I would rather not lose this site because its unaffordable to maintain, and I would rather donate then tolerate mountains of popups(like on the ps3news site which I used to love) Anyways, keep up the good work and thanks for this site.

Thanks for the feedback, We will never end up like ps3new, pop ups and full pages adds only piss people of to the point of moving to other fansite.

    There is
a donate button in the forum if
you feel like giving a little :)

On a good site the server should be
back to normal. Network seems fine for now. Till the next issues arise :(

But right now I’m searching for a new dedicated server.

    Good news :)

I have just brought a beast of a server..If you want a good server you have to pay unfortunately. Like they say you get what you pay for..Time will tell if that’s true.

Its Fully managed too :) So I don’t have to worry about resetting the server myself as their monitoring it.

    New server specs :

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (2x1000Mhz FSB)
    RAM: 2 GB Dual Channel
    Hard Drive: 120 GB
    Bandwidth: 1500 GB
    Control Panel: cPanel / WHM
    Management: Fully Managed
    Uplink Port: 100 Mbp/s
    Firewall / DDOS protection

Major difference here is Huge CPU power / 2GB of ram and a healthy 100Mbps port speed at full duplex. That should give us some nice bandwidth and very quick download speeds.
