Forum user KG6ZVP has updated his video converter to version 1.05, this video convert is slightly different to the others out there. It does everything for you it automates video conversion from any source to PSP format. It calculates a PSP compatible resolution (like: 480-x272-) based on input aspect ratio and determines the best bitrate for the encode. Its all run for a one off batch file.
Its in beta status as there is a small hitch, KG6ZVP is after some help in order to get a GUI working for the application. If you can help out with a GUI why not PM KG6ZVP over in the release thread.

I’d really rather use something that wasnt completely automated. it seems kinda stupid cause that would make it harder to find out where something went wrong if it did cause you didnt do anything manually.

The whole idea of the program is to automate tasks for people who don’t have time to do them manually. To get an encode of this quality and file size, you would have to do these steps:
>Determine format of input
>Determine framerate of input
>Determine Width and Height of input
>Determine Display Aspect Ratio
>Write an AVS script that amplifies the audio to the appropriate volume and resizes the video to a compatible resolution. It also must brighten the video enough for you to see more detail when you are viewing video on your PSP somewhere with lots of ambient light. And, it must change the framerate to something PSP compatible that is near to the input framerate
>Calculate bitrate based on framerate and video resolution for best compression while maintaining quality
>Write an appropriate command line for a two pass video conversion
>Write an appropriate command line for a high quality, small file size audio encode
>Write an appropriate command line for muxing
>Write an appropriate command line for thumbnail generation

wow, that looks frustrating, especially since i don’t know wtf you’re talking about.
i’m glad it’s automated

looks nice. i wonder if it supports uncommon formats, like swf and flv…
January 25, 2010 at 10:59 am
It supports any format/codec as input that can be played in Media Player Classic on your computer. In other words, you can add support for more formats by installing different codecs (XVID, X264, FLV1, FMP4, etc.) and different ‘splitters’ (like Haali media splitter for MKV and MP4, etc.)
Does that answer your question?

100% Free

My program (PSP Converter 1.05) is free.
January 26, 2010 at 5:53 pm
oh, i know this program is free, because i’ve been using it for a week now, and i’m satisfied with the results
i was asking if that other thing is free, but now that i look at it, the video converter Doritoes described could give my computer a virus.
oh, and keep up the good work!
if i knew how to code, i would help with the GUI…

what i mean is like any other software which is a single executable program eg. (K-lite codec pack). That is how i want yours to be like.Rather than installing Prerequisites.zip before open the converter is at times very confusing. At first i didn’t know how to go about it ,that’s why i sent that comment for u to show me.
All the same,it a very nice app.It convert almost every movie file i play on my pc.Keep it up and looking for more update and will be your #1 fan.

Which files did it fail to convert? I would appreciate the feedback. Tell me as much as you can about the file.
