PSP Skype this month:

Japan’s Nikkei Net reports that Skype will be out this month in Japan and will be free for PSP-PSP calls and PSP to PC. The world wide release date is set to be in September..So we will have to wait a little. The major drawback is it will only support the Playstation Portable Slim unit not the older PSP model.

Nikkei also provided a few details on what PSP owners can expect from the Sony-Skype partnership. Skype’s Internet phone technology will be limited to owners of the PSP Slim, which launched worldwide in September. Owners of the redesigned handheld will able to download Skype software directly onto their PSPs and then use a specially designed microphone to communicate.

I assume we can use the socom headset. I wouldn’t see why not. Also September is a long way away, lets hope they bring that forward. My guess is its the makers of skype holding that up.
