Update: FreePlay has just posted a Hello World user mode exploit video of the PSP Go running, “Hello Go” FreePlay’s way of proving to everyone that its not a fake and legit. Check out the video below. The PSP Go is Hacked, while not completely its a start in the right direction. PSP gOwned…lol

FreePlay has posted a very interesting YouTube video (Its embedded below). The PSP Go has been slightly hacked. An exploit has been found in by loading certain hacked save data files, in an unnamed game. Doing so Freeplay managed to run a text file on his PSP Go (A basic hello world) and also dump the PSP Go memory and flash0 to his Memory Stick M2. Flash0 isn’t writeable but flash1 is.

Apparently this is no new exploit, that it has been out there for some time and freeplay has used this to show the world that the PSP Go can be exploited and isn’t as secure as maybe Sony had thought.

Sony always seems to be desperately fighting against the homebrew community, trying to block us out of the systems we spent lots of our own cash on. Sadly, these guys really can’t catch a break. I’ve already managed to update an exploit to work on the Go.

HERE’S THE BASICS:

Yes, there are unreleased PSP exploits out there for various games. Yes, they still work, even on the PSP Go.

No, I didn’t discover this exploit. It’s been floating around for a while; it was just never used.

NO, I *DO NOT* plan on sharing any useful details about this. I want to see how long this will fester before Sony finally figures out how to fix it. That means I won’t be sharing the files or even naming the game I used to do it.

Yes, it works on all systems and all firmwares.

No, it’s not going to lead to custom firmware, piracy, or a Pandora for the Go. It can’t write to the flash, and it even seems to be unable to overwrite the system settings, which was always unblocked before on the older systems. It’s user-mode only.

Oh, and if you think this is a hoax… look at the video, and notice the version.txt file from OFW 6.10.

      odds are that this exploit WASNT found so soon, this guy most likely experimented with games available for the psp go before it came out, then just announced this a few weeks/months later

    Omfg. They can find a hack for a PSP Go with ofw 6.00 and they can’t get a hack for psp 3000 ofw 5.51…

      alex.. he said the exploit works on all psp’s it was just never really explored. plus its a usermode exploit not a kmode exploit.. which means no cfw enabler for go or the cursed mobos

        well the news said the flash can’t be overwritten.
        i think devs will have to make a CFW update patch different from older PSP.

        Yeah, I was wrong. I thought flash1 was protected, but it was just my code being buggy. You can overwrite anything in flash1 (haven’t tried flash0 yet).

    The PSP Go! is the only PSP with SaveState support. This will only work on a PSP-N1000 System (PSP Go!).

        there was never really a reason for them since you could run backups with the custom firmware, along with a bunch of other things, so really modchips were never made because they wouldnt sell on a machine that didnt need them

    Yay its semi hacked………………but wats point hes not gona share the info, he jus showed us thats its possible. But i think what ppl wana see is a 6.10cfw and an enabler for psp 3000 5.50+

      well, anyone could test things with the save data and many diferent games, and see if they could find the same exploit, and work from there, it wouldnt be hard, just take a long time, finding the proper files and game, btu if thats one step closer to CFW on the Go, and we have no other solution yet, i’d say this is fine for a start.

    they can hack the PSP go in 2days but they cant hack the PSP 3000 with 5.50 fw this utter bull from the devs i dont understand what taking them so long to release the updates for the hack is asthough they dont care about the 3000 just like they didnt care about hacking the PS3 i will till next week for any updates.

        actually, i would like to do that, i’d love to try to make my own CFW, i just dont know how to even start, if anyone could like, point the way to becoming a dev, i’d be happy to start learning, but seeing as that hasnt happened yet, im going to continue hoping for the best from those who can make CFW.

        actually, thats stupid, because how much longer is the 3000 going to remain dominant? it could be like when the 3k came out, most people dropped the 2k like a brick and it smashed into millions of piece’s. if the Go has more success, then why would you waste time on an older machine, and not focus on what people are buying? just cause you were stupid and bought a 3k doesnt mean “they” have to hack it for you, if you want CFW so bad, go buy a 1k, i guarantee it will work CFW for you, and it’ll probably be cheaper. thats what i have, i’ve had 3 now, and i wont go to even a 2k, i dont trust them. so before you whine about “them” not hacking your precious 3k, think about why you HAD to get the 3k to begin with, and then tell my WHY “they” HAVE to make CFW for you.

        you are saying thank you to the scene but not even releasing the semi hacked go files why? it will be useful to the other devs who can try to make other updates for those who are stuck in fw 5.50 please be kind enough to send to ppl who can make eloaders and Cfw for ppl using 3000 with 5.50 and above sony will patch somehow so its no point keeping it a secret.

    i think this guy is from psp developers…. they tried hacking their own pruduct and had a success and post it out to promote PSPgo or bragging that they can hack psp…. and i think its the MOOH game hmmm i wander what game is it he said it was floating around and never used? all i know is that MOOH exploit was floating around that claimed to hack psp’s ofw’s..

      he never claimed to hack it though, he just used an exploit, that didnt allow him to do much, so it doesnt matter.

    Who said that its actually hacked? Its just an exploit. And anyway, it could also lead to nothing.

    You people are lucky its not the PSP 2, but only the PSP GO, cause the psp 2 would be merely impossible to hack.

    And why does hackers pick on the portable things to hack. The only reason why you dont hack the Playstation 3 is because you know its IMPOSSIBLE to hack.

      i dont believe that the ps3 is impossible to hack. there have been small steps such as the bd java. i know thats not a major hack, but was/is still an opening for homebrew on ps3.
      sony learned from the psp that you have to stay 1 step ahead with constant firmware changes, but all it will take for the ps3 and the psp2 (when it comes i have heard rumors of a psp 4000 next) to be “hacked” is one exploit found and followed it has happened with all other systems not just the portables and it will happen with all in the future. the homebrew scene is to good and to smart for it not to.

    Official firmware 6.10 is on the way. Don’t ask if you will get the M33 tags with it.

    ok, now that im tired of yelling at children to stop complaining, (even though in essence i was compling about them complaining…) i think i’ll write my won comment now. while this does seem cool and all, i personally like my 1000 (aside from my UMD drive being fail right now… need to fix that). so Go news isnt for me. however, this does look like a promising look into the Go’s hackability. even if FreePlay isnt releasing info on it, its a start. and on the subject of FreePlay’s withholding of info: he has every right, HE did it, he did all the work, and research to find a way to do it, i think i would be a lil pissed off if i did this and everyone was asking for it so they could rape the info i just got for them. so i say good for him, he knows the value of information, while it would be cool if he gave it out, its his choice, you want it so bad, do the research and work yourself.
