Remember last weeks big news item? Freeplay’s video of the PSP Go displaying Hello World? This was achieved through an undiscovered save game data exploit. The exploit that uses an “unknown” Games save data to exploit the system and enable user mode kernels to run. Well its been confirmed legitimate and has been tested by MaGiXien of PSPGen. MaGiXien is the Frenchman behind the GEN Custom Firmwares and PSPGen.com so we can take it from him its 100% legit. Not that I doubted FreePlay, but some of you did.
So to those our there that were still non believers, it is safe to say that. It is real, it works on not only the PSP Go, but all PSP systems and on all current PSP Firmwares.

MaXiGieN testing FreePlay's save game data Exploit on the PSP Go
MaGiXien has also reiterated, that this hack or exploit doesn’t allow the use of a homebrew enabler aka HEN to load any kind of temporary custom firmware on the PSP Go. I’m hopping that it will at least lead to some type of eloader.A way to loading homebrew games, applications and emulators.
So now that MaGiXien has a copy of FreePlay’s Hello World PSP Save game exploit, does this mean were likely to a release some time soon…? That’s unknown but we think FreePlay has given specific instructions to PSPGen to try it and test it. Prove its not fake. But not to use it or release it. Hmmm Perhaps FreePlay is waiting for a time to release his save data hack? Maybe when Sony discovers it and releases Firmware 6.20?

And no I don’t think the game in question is Gripshift.. Sony would have patched that. I wonder if this will even be publicly released?

October 11, 2009 at 9:23 am
I wonder if they used the save game exploit that pspslimhacks mentioned earlier this year,
where you use need for speed underground and the other game that must be in japanese version
they said that the save game exploit has been around for a while but they never used it…
the exploit where you use need for speed underground has been for a while but it has never been used….
and it was supposed to work with a psp 3000 official firmware 5.50
Do you think they used that save game exploit to hack the psp go?????
i think they did….
October 10, 2009 at 10:24 am
It will only be so long until this is released. Hopefully it will lead to a hombrew enabler. This happened so quick. Ha, if it can happen on the 3k it can happen on the GO!
October 10, 2009 at 4:48 pm
it’s freeplay, i doubt it.
October 10, 2009 at 10:32 am
this proved that not all security are pathed hoped next update will lead to the underground of homebrew ; )
October 10, 2009 at 10:41 am
this is cool.,i hope this will totaly hack soon.,so that the psp 3000 5.50 will have luck also.,if he will release this game and exploit.,can u upload your game.,hehe.,joke.,

O_o i dont see what he did he just stayed in a screen the whole video with green and red dots falling. what makes it say its hacked. (sorry i know nothing about exploits i never looked in to them)
i still wont waste $250 for the go its too over priced
October 10, 2009 at 12:38 pm
People actually doubted him? Maybe I can finally update from 5.03 now. I’m interested in how Sony will react (if at all) in their next firmware update.
October 10, 2009 at 12:39 pm
PspNoobsrus also known as DemonSpawn found the save game data exploit about 3 months ago using Fireteam Bravo 2 but at the time we did not know it could be used for this type of exploit, our intention was to be able to save cheat codes to that section of the save game data area to have a secondary data base, control hooks were used in the seplugins file in order to use them, Great exploit though as for the reason to store rather large amounts of information ( Code wise ) considering some of the stacks ate up the ram when using off a text file hooked to MKUltra ( created by DmonChild ) this exploit allowed us to be able to look into new options and store points in the kernel.
This is a great find and this could and hopefully lead to new exploits later with some development but I also wanted to say thanks to Freeplay for the work put in and the Gen team for their work in continuing CFW development and hopefully more people graduate to this level of programing…..
October 10, 2009 at 12:57 pm
why would you ever give out the name of a game that has a working exploit. sony will patch it.
October 10, 2009 at 2:31 pm
because he doesnt know the value of information…
October 10, 2009 at 7:16 pm
First off I have no reason in making a false statement, It’s usually people like you that know nothing about programming to pass judgement. I on the other hand won’t give out what we know about it and this feature is easy enough for a simple mips user to find in ANY GAME.
I’m also not going to fall into your flaming battle considering the fact that if you actually knew anything about it you wouldn’t have made the comment in the first place. Me saying the game we found it in has no worth to much of the community nor does Sony care about what we’re using it for. We aren’t looking to re engineer the software but using what we use as a storage and nothing more, If your so into programming or even this community as much as you take this comment so seriously then we would see more out of you than complaints.
I’m not here to try to impress anyone but to extend my congrats to those who put in the work it takes to give users like your self (Assmunch) and those whom appreciate what they have, Open Source is a beautiful thing folks, Try to give some thanks to everyone that made this place worth being apart of……..
October 10, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Retarted shithead!! Sony will fucking patch it now. Thanks a lot.
October 11, 2009 at 12:05 pm
i am not flaming on you. my comment is based on the FACT that any time a weakness is pointed out sony closes all holes in that weakness. you are right i am an end user and not a programmer, but it just seems to me that some information is to useful to go on a message board and give yourself a big hug. but i am not nor will not engage you in a flame battle.
October 11, 2009 at 12:20 pm
I was only stating that every game out there has exploits and Sony knows about them. The programmers over at Sony really don’t care about used games that have had exploits and FTB2 is no exception, the concern is new games that enable the user to be able to get into the flash.
I have no reason for a hug, I’m pretty secure with myself, I was posting this information so that others my look into it and hopefully learn something for them selves. Sometimes it’s not just about trying to be famous but giving people the direction they need to progress in their work. This information is old and we have been working through every update Sony has hit us with on this game for over 3 years.
Comment if you will but I know that the info is good and Sony really doesn’t care about what you talk about here in these forums. If it gets to their hands it because some one hand delivered it to them. I love this site and I do come on to check it out every other day and although I don’t post often I think the content of the post and not so much the amount that counts. If anything I posted in the past helped anyone then I did my job but I understand that it’s always going to be questioned and the proof is there if you look for it, good luck…..
October 10, 2009 at 1:59 pm
What’s the point of proving this? It’s just a user-mode exploit which doesn’t lead to anything but dumping flash contents. So who cares if it is legit or not? I’m tired of this people trying to mark their names in the psp scene history.
October 10, 2009 at 2:33 pm
actaully, freeplay and them are rather well known in the psp world… so they’re not trying to make a name for themselves… someone trying to do that would be like team mack, and those guy who mnade fake CFW for no reason…
October 10, 2009 at 2:25 pm
will everyone shutup about this stupid expliot ive seen tons of things like this that cant run any code so just stop posting this crap until you have something real
October 10, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Sigh why do people need so damn much proof?
October 10, 2009 at 2:32 pm
will everyone shut up ive seen a ton of expliots like this that never lead to anything and doesnt run code so just stop posting this crap until you got something real
October 10, 2009 at 2:34 pm
dont tell people to shut up, its not nice, if you dont care about the news, then dont read it, and wait for something that does interest you.
October 10, 2009 at 2:44 pm
why would people argue that this is fake? its an exploit its nothing to be wowwed at and this is not going to lead to anything at all.
October 10, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Well the way I see it, if they can run a hello world script then there is a way to run homebrew games, or emulators etc. Its a ray of hope right?
October 10, 2009 at 4:12 pm
true. there isnt any reason to beleive that you cant run software with this, as the message hello world is actually software written to run on this. but im still ticked at oricle for giving out the name of the game (he may be lying anyway). is there anyway to remove his comment just in case?
October 10, 2009 at 4:41 pm
possibbbly, but it would be lame if you had to run this exploit every time you wanted to run homebrew or emulators
October 10, 2009 at 5:14 pm
@Jpoel
what, you’d complain about being able to run cfw or homebrew just because you’d have an extra step each time, wow, you people just cant be happy can you?
October 10, 2009 at 6:29 pm
huh? Kagemaru what are you on about? This will not run cfw it’s usermode
October 10, 2009 at 4:21 pm
DO you guys believe that a cfw or eloaders or whatever you believe will be made in the next few weeks or days i am on the verge of selling my PSP3000 what the hell should i do now should i keep it or sell it anytakers……
October 10, 2009 at 4:29 pm
sell/trade it for a psp that can be hacked, its pointless to wait around for something that might not ever happen. if and when it does, you can go back and get a new 3000 and sell the 1000 or 2000
October 10, 2009 at 4:44 pm
get the original. psp 1000 > psp 2000 > psp 3000. nuff said. they get worse as they “progress”, psp go is a prime example.
October 10, 2009 at 5:17 pm
sell your 3000. get a 1000 or better yet get a hackable 2000. there is no need in having a psp that does not suit your needs. i have a 3000 and am very happy with davees chickhen and cfw 3.6 and 5.03 gen (i go back and forth with my 3000). your psp with 5.50 may or may not be able to do what mine can at any time in the future, go trade (or sell) and get a 1000 or a hackable 2000.
note. you may need an extra battery and an extra memory stick to install custom firmware on said new used psp.
see vampy i just extended an olive branch of peace to you, im such a nice guy
October 10, 2009 at 5:22 pm
you really are assmunch, you nice guy you.
October 10, 2009 at 5:25 pm
yes yes thank you
October 12, 2009 at 4:01 pm
i picked my psp 1000 up from gamestop for like $90, and it still had 3.xx on it. upgraded to 5.03 (i think) and used chickHEN and recovery flasher and BOOM i’m at 5.00m33 in a matter of minutes, no extra money needed. this might not be the case for some people, but it sure worked for me. (on a college student income, basically nothing lol). currently running gen-b2 and haven’t looked back since.
October 10, 2009 at 5:55 pm
side note: if you go to trade in your 3000 for a 1000 or hackable 2000 you may be looking at a 50 dollar charge to “downgrade”. if i were you i would look on ebay and try to get one and still keep the 3000 as well. dont know your financial situation but for just a little more you can have both.
October 10, 2009 at 4:49 pm
If this ever gets hacked theres a chance it might be hacked like the psp 300 it migh make me buy one psp go
October 10, 2009 at 5:53 pm
PSPFan, can i get your attention please?
long time reader, first time poster hehe
ok so this is what i have been thinking since the GO first came on the scene. so it cant be said what game is used for this exploit. i fully understand what is going on here. i have the same thoughts as you on this one. though this “hello world” cant run CFW or homebrew, it will open up a door way to programs like it. since it is a written program in itself, it can be done similarily just like the first psp hack was made. anyone remember? PSP-1000 hen lumines crack? done the same way as this. so i think everyone should be patient because it is only a matter of time before its released. its proven that you can get in there, one way or another. and the files cant be released becasue sony will go patching everything as soon as they know what is used. see im not a noob to this at all. ive done up 100’s of PSP’s since i got the hang of things. im not a program dev or anything but i definetly know my way around a psp. so here are my thoughts. anyone have an IPOD touch? ever jailbroken it? a program that runs via usb and cracks it all on its own. dont have to do anything. why not write up a program like that one. then just plug in your GO to the usb and watch it run everything needed to break it down. no pandora battery, no umd, so therefore the old ways……… are dead. lets find a new one to break it down. i own a GO simply for the fact that the very first models are always the easiest to hack. i havent updated it at all. i just watch movies on it. still 5.70 OFW. i love the go, but i would love it more if it was broken down.
and another thing. i think yoshihiro is well capable of making a decryptor of the document.dat that comes from PSN store purchased games. what the hell is this one game to one psp crap?? i know he can do it, i have faith.
PS. i frequent this site on a daily basis!!! its my favorite!!! keep up the good work.
PSS. all the other “posters”, its not the noobs fault they dont understand whats going on, be easy on them. we were all noobs at one point. Fortunately for me, my noob days were over like the day after PSP-1000 came out. so im a vet. have any questions, just leave a comment for me. ill be glad to help and not be rude because you want to learn.
October 10, 2009 at 6:00 pm
yea you are right. i am guilty of bring rude to noobs, and i was one to. but for all the noobs please ask how to questions and not whine about what cant be done. i will be glad to help as well.
October 10, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Hi adam0000, thanks for the post. I”m hopeful too at least something can come of this. I was going to leave my PSP Go on firmware 5.70. But in order to start to review the system was forced to upgrade to 6.10.
Yes I remember the Lummies crack, GTA:LCS exploit, downgraders days, all to get to 1.50 firmware. Despite this site only being created in 2007, I’ve been involved in “tinkering” with PSP’s and PSP hack sites since its first release back in 2005.
Thanks for following PSH.
October 10, 2009 at 7:45 pm
Well I support your movement hahahah. Keep it up and keep the updates coming. Like I said, I come on here everyday when I can. I only have internet for 2 hours a day due to my job. On deployment for the navy. Dont have real internet access at all hahaha. Just here and there sites. But glad I found this one. Now i can keep my PSP updated even when i am out to sea.
Big thanx!!!!

So PSPgo has been hacked and how about PSP3000 with 5.50 OFW’s…????
psp3000 is all i got.. im having thoughts on selling my psp and buy a pspgo… =(
October 12, 2009 at 3:56 pm
(read my comment below)
October 14, 2009 at 4:17 pm
the PSPgo hasn’t been hacked yet, the video above is just showing an exploit. Maybe some devs will find a way to inject CFW inside the firmware like how ChickHEN did to 5.03 OFW.
Be patient, or sell your PSP for one that can be hacked. Selling your PSP 3000 for a PSPgo is probably the most stupidest thing you can do if the only reason to buy one is for CFW.
October 11, 2009 at 8:27 am
we dont want anything from psp go….but u please hack psp 3000 5.50 version…please……othere wise remove psp 5.50 downgrader for 3000 series…..plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
October 12, 2009 at 3:54 pm
wow. i am in no way, shape, or form a “pro” at psp’s and hacking them, but i have enough sense to not cry about something like that. if you want cfw, go sell your 3000 and pick up a 1000. that’s exactly what i did, because i knew the 3000 wasn’t going anywhere towards a flashed cfw (at least any time soon). who knows, you might even make some money back (i sure did)! be proactive…whining will make it less likely for someone to help you, whereas if you ask questions, in a civilized manner, you might find your answer. or, learn some coding languages and hop on the dev bandwagon. up to you…there’s my two cents worth…take it or leave it.
October 13, 2009 at 1:21 am
I Finally Sold my 3000 5.50 and bought a PSP 2006 Black yes finally no more mobbo
October 13, 2009 at 2:09 am
Awesome. I’m proud of you, welcome back to the wonderful world of CFW my friend.
October 14, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Smart choice my friend! It’s people like you who deserve to live through the zombie apocalypse. Because instead of whining when will the cure be found (when will a hack for 5.50 OFW come), you make your own cure by buying a sawed-off shotgun (a hackable PSP).
October 13, 2009 at 12:53 pm
I have a question. Is it possible to hack a black 2001 with chickhen and OFW 6.10?
October 16, 2009 at 12:46 am
no…but I think you can use a pandoras battery to flash to a lower and CFW-safe OFW.

October 13, 2009 at 1:20 pm
How do i get 5.00m33- 6 working on a ta88v3 motherboard PSP 2004
October 16, 2009 at 12:52 am
you can’t install 5.00m33-6 on a ta88v3 motherboard. The best you can due is use ChickHEN R2 and CFWE or 5.03 GEN-A to play .iso files, but the draw back is that you won’t be on a permanent CFW (meaning if you ever cut power from the PSP, you get back to unhacked mode and have to restart the whole process again).
