PSP Go CPU maxes out at 480Mhz, over 40% more power

FCC proof that the PSPGo has more powerful CPU

FCC proof that the PSPGo has more powerful CPU

Sony Officially announced that the has the same CPU speed as the current PSP-1000 to PSP-3000 modesl right? Well a recent look at the documents submit to the FCC for the application list it as having a CPU with the maxium clock speed of 480Mhz. That’s a 42% increase over the older models CPU speed. Its likely that Sony might be unlocking the ’s true CPU power at later stage. Much like they did with the PSP when firmware 3.50 officially unlocked 333Mhz for PSP developers, the first game taking advantage of this was God of War I think. Where we saw just how that etc 111Mhz could be used. So image what developers could do with an etc 147 Mhz more?

That of course means the would have exclusive games after all…

from fist of october it will be in sell
and a peasonal oppinion-I was shocked first I saw it in PSPGEN and now I sould say that that’s very bad dessicion-in one hand it would have more than 99% of hte game which require 333 mhz and from the other it would have newer and expensive CPU-no point at all
Sony should have made completly new PSP not sth that is more powerful and has the same games….

This could be a big WIN for homebrew – especially the N64 emulator. This would be the horsepower it needs to run most (all?) games at 100%. Let’s just hope it can be unlocked…

I Expect It Would Have A Stronger Motherboard And that Means Its Harder To hack It Cuz It Cant be Opened So You Just Have To Wait For PSPgen Or Any Team Of PSPhackers To Hack It And Of Course This Is Gonna Take A Really Long While

Or, The PSP Go could have the guts of a PSP 3000. With the latest MOBO for it. Or, It could have its own MOBO.

More like a big LOSE, the Go has no UMD drive and no removable battery… they are trying very hard at making a PSP to that can combat the modding community.

i still dont think i want this one
1 the screen is smaller version of 3000 screen ( i already have a 3000)
2 no umd (i pirate but also have many umd disks)
3 the main selling point is 16 gb internal memory ( i have a 2, 4, and 8 memory stick. i can go between all three and am constantly changing games on all 3. plus i can get a 16 for around 75 bucks.
4 the go will retail for 250, for that price you can go buy a wii or 360. not to mention the ps3 is only 150 more with a price drop expected this year.

    5 FUCK SONY.

I’m not so sure another clock boost would improve the graphics much, b/c the PSP still only has 2MB of VRAM. God of War uses tons of texture repetition and no MIP mapping, so you know they’re already pushing that envelope.

What’s it matter? PSP is a fingerprint magnet, like it matters if the Mhz is any higher.

Possible they have this experimental battery coming out that a lithium-nuclear energy battery but it has not be approved by the FCC yet because the battery leaks and the radiation containment they lined the whole thing with various materials to keep the leaking to a minimal.

There is still a few years till the thing comes out.

Haven’t you been reading about the new breakthrough in battery charging? Apparently you can charge batteries in minutes not hours using new technology of some sort.
