Update: Exophase.com and PSPGen.com have been been added to the list of sponsors, bring the total prize amount up to an astonishing $4500! Prize amounts below have been updated.

Calling all developers! How would you like to win over $4500 in cash and prizes? If you answered YES we’ve got the competition for you: the Genesis Competition! Recently announced on wololo.net, this compo is set to be the biggest PSP homebrew developing competition ever held. And with prizes totaling up to $4500 in cash and prizes, sponsors such as wololo.net, npt, psp-hacks.com, Exophase.com, PSPGen.com and yours truly PSPSlimHacks.com, there is no doubt this will be the biggest PSP developing competition ever.

While a few of the details are still being ironed out, here are a few of the basic rules (from ):

  • The contest is taking place from now until May 15, 2011. You can submit your project anytime between now and then, including the final day of the 15th.
  • Your entry must be a PSP Homebrew. It can be a game, an application, a plugin, … anything’s fine as long as it is a PSP binary. LUA or other scripting languages are fine as long as your EBOOT runs “standalone”. Wallpapers, Themes, Flash games, portals, utilities (even if they are in direct relation to the PSP) are out of this competition.
  • The homebrew must be made by you. Updates of somebody else’s homebrew will be accepted ONLY if you prove that you got authorization from the original creator(s) to enter this contest. Please do not simply take someone’s source and add your name to it. We will find out and it’s just not cool. Keep it clean.
  • The homebrew must be entirely new, or a significant update (or mod) of your existing homebrew. We might refuse “updates” or “mods” if we think they do not bring much new features to your homebrew.
  • Anyone is allowed to submit as many entries as they want. You can work in teams, but we will need a single contact person for the prizes.

Here is the information on the prizes:

  • 1st Prize: $1700
  • 2nd Prize: $750
  • 3rd Prize: $400

In addition to the official vote, sponsor sites may determine how to spend the money and goods they’ve donated, like a separate poll on the sponsor site for example.

Wololo also wants everyone to know that this is their first time organizing such a large scale event, so don’t expect these rules to be perfect at this time, but they will do their best to answer any questions.

A full list of rules, including submission guidelines, prize information, and judge and sponsor information can be found here: Rules.

All submissions must be made here: /talk Submissions Forum

As a sponsor site we would like to encourage all our developers to enter this competition. Good luck to everyone!
