*Update 26th Jan, This video here seems to have a little more weight to it, no strange cuts and the video’s audio remains continuous. I would be more convinced if it was a PSP Go or PSP-3000. Nevertheless it is interesting…The author claims that he will release this only when Sony patch it with 6.30 Firmware. I guess we just wait and see. We’re also maybe given a hint – Exploit 6.20.MP4. Thanks UtlimaKillz for the tip.

This post is for all those that keep commenting that the PSP scene is finally dead..We have heard it all before since 1.50 exploits were patched back in the day,but time and time again the scene bounces back. And here’s a little something for you… An apparent “legit” PSP hello world for firmware 6.20. Is it fake? Could be, again we love it how these type of videos always seem to be short and very blury. Recorded on a 50 dollar mobile phone. So take it with a pinch of salt. Could just be a hello world like Free Play’s which will lead to nothing much. By the way were is Free Play? I’m sure he’ll be back to debunk this video…

And now something a little more positive from the PSPGEN team, they talk again about that fact that Sony has really pulled out all the stops to prevent exploits and custom firmware in firmware 6.00+ However the good part is PSPGEN do say that a Custom Fimrware 6.xx GEN is possible. But it will take sometime to do.

So, there is hope..The scene isn’t dead just yet…

    Now before you all rubbish me for posting this..There is nothing wrong with giving people a little hope. And I’m not saying these two videos are legit and true exploits. Its easy enough to record a video like this then hit R should to quickly switch to a paintshop made hello world jpeg….

    But the news from PSPGEN about a CFW 6.xx GEN is promising.

        well, it’s nice to know team GEN is finally listening to the pleas for cfw 6.xx
        only problem is, i read somewhere that ofw 6.00 has an entirely new code base, which means coders will have to recode homebrew for 6.20.
        hope we find a way around, like we always do ;)

      There are legit reasons why many say the scene is REALLY dead this time.

      1. Most PSP owners can’t even hack their psp as they have PSP 2000 TA-088V3 5.03+, PSP 3000 5.03+, or PSP Go’s. If most of the PSP audience can’t even use homebrew, then there is a legit reason in this.
      2. Developers becoming more childish(Davee and Freeplay, for example) and even scamming the community with fake exploits like this one. Not only is it an obvious fake, but like someone already said, TIFF images aren’t even supported in 6.20, proving that its a fake. This goes for all the supposed “TIFF” exploits for 6.20
      3. Sony has recently been stepping up the game with frequent updates and even a new kernel, + a digital only handheld, all in an attempt to stop homebrew. We are still on 5.50, with no SenseMe, Comic Reader(though we do have an alternative), PSN(though there is Media Go! dont know if it still works though), or online gaming. Also the new theme colors, but those are insignificant.
      4. All the good stuffs already been made. Though some good homebrew still manages to shine through, much of it is just one time download and then delete nowadays. The only homebrew i keep on my psp for more than 5 mins these days are the plugins(especially the new one, the timebatterypercentage one)

      …Whew, that was pretty exhausting to write, but at least it justifes the reason people have a right to say this nowadays. On the other hand, dont lose hope. There is still much hope in the form of some developers, and the Action Replay, and maybe one day Sony will discontinue the PSP and then the PSP can be hacked for the last time so everyone can use homebrew.

        It iwould not be good if Sony discontinued the PSP, because then game developers would quit and the PSP will be gone and… and we’d have to sell it go get another handheld to put homebrew on. That would be the worst possible scenario. No one will develop and no more fun. That would be the FINAL END for the PSP

    A Hacking team must release a custom firmware for PSP GO!maybe teamGEN does it.Wish any hacker could hack it and can play ISO games…

    And one thing:
    teamGEN pls dont make the 6.xx gen to have a bug like the savedata corrupting.So people will enjoy that new firmware coming

    ok i have a problem with a PSP3000. I recently modded a PSP 3000 to 5.03Gen-C using ChickHEN R2 and Sedna.prx to stay in CFW. I was messing around with the 3000 I hacked for a friend and I disabled the vsh Menu under “Configurations” in recovery mode. Question: How do I get into recovery mode from there? I disabled it because the PSP 3000 belongs to a 11 yr old and I messed up. I just want a quick response before I return it to its owner on Monday after 3pm lol thanks. The GEN Team is trying there best guys just wait and be patience. This news is better than not even hearing about it at all. Think about that!

      I suggest using ultimate vsh menu plugins by Total Noob.. Then you can press L+R+square to activate or deactivate the vsh menu..

    What I don’t understand is, if Team Typhoon (Davee) showed that a HEN exploit could be used to use emulators, on a PSP Go (FW 6.10), then shouldn’t Team GEN try figuring out that same exploit/HEN, instead of coding a new CFW? That way, homebrew wouldn’t have to be recoded, and I can only imagine that would be much easier, right?

      As jeetest said below me, your psp is unhackable at this point. My suggestion is to go out and sell your 3000 and buy a 1000. 1000s are under $100 at gamestop, and even less on eBay. I did this, ended up with a psp with 4.xx on it, upgraded to 5.03 OFW, loaded chickHEN R2. Flashing a CFW from there is extremely easy, the hardest part is choosing between M33 and the latest GEN release. Other than that, there’s really nothing you can do but wait for the next exploit (don’t hold your breath though). Good luck and happy hacking!

    hey everyone i think someone should do some hex editing to the eboot which is lower than the system version of psp 3000 owners…so that it would downgrade…i’m currently at 50% progress coz there’s an error when it starts,,,,”SGT9000001″ THAT means the file is edited, the psp system wont accept edited eboots of updates.

    well glad i never updated my psp 3000 i like the 5.03 m33 and gen hacks personally i think they should just work on better and easier to use game decrypters
    don’t know what to think about the tiff exploits though i thought sony fixed that problem after 5.03… but if they didnt really fix it than that guy in the second video had to many things under his pictures cus i noticed with chickHEN R2 that if you had any pictures in your photo section other than chickHEN R2 than it had problems loading… well with me anyways… i found it easier to set my psp 3k to default settings and make sure i had no photos and it would load first attempt maybe that guy should just take all the pictures off and reset to default settings and try again and see what happens…. just an idea… i would try it but my psp is just fine at 5.03 gen-a so yea but good luck with the 6.xx hack

    My brainlesss friend bought a new psp 3004 from a heartless moron Italian video games store.. . well, my brainless friend asked me if I can modify her PSP .. and obcourse I said yes! bcuZ i’m expecting for lower ofw from her psp.. You know wat this shameless Italian did?!.. he took his UMD game and he updated to 5.70 ofw so my brainless friends psp will not be hack by 5.03 using chickhenR2.. .     I upgraded my PSP 2001 with firmware 6.20 now any games and applications does not work on it and it seems everything that I install it says that its corrupted. i advise everyone not to upgrade to 6.20 or you’ll have your PSP useless!

    If anyone takes a closer look at that video, it kinda looks like they’ve pieced together two different videos. one showing OFW 6.2, then switching to a CFW enabled one to run homebrew, then back again. First switch is at 0:52 – 0:53 of the video, and then it looks like its switched back at 3:41.

    im not saying its fake or not, it just seems awfully suspicious. (that and the choice of game, i mean spongebob? c’mon :P )
