*Update 26th Jan, This video here seems to have a little more weight to it, no strange cuts and the video’s audio remains continuous. I would be more convinced if it was a PSP Go or PSP-3000. Nevertheless it is interesting…The author claims that he will release this only when Sony patch it with 6.30 Firmware. I guess we just wait and see. We’re also maybe given a hint – Exploit 6.20.MP4. This post is for all those that keep commenting that the PSP scene is finally dead..We have heard it all before since 1.50 exploits were patched back in the day,but time and time again the scene bounces back. And here’s a little something for you… An apparent “legit” PSP hello world for firmware 6.20. Is it fake? Could be, again we love it how these type of videos always seem to be short and very blury. Recorded on a 50 dollar mobile phone. So take it with a pinch of salt. Could just be a hello world like Free Play’s which will lead to nothing much. By the way were is Free Play? I’m sure he’ll be back to debunk this video…

And now something a little more positive from the PSPGEN team, they talk again about that fact that Sony has really pulled out all the stops to prevent exploits and custom firmware in firmware 6.00+ However the good part is PSPGEN do say that a Custom Fimrware 6.xx GEN is possible. But it will take sometime to do.

So, there is hope..The scene isn’t dead just yet…

You know, since there are only 14 new North American releases between now and MGS Peace Walker (so, 15 including that game, not including Minis, and 6.xx requiring demos)…I think I would actually be okay with “the scene” withholding any exploits/HEN/6.xx CFW that could/Would be patched in that time.

I definitely have older games I can purchase from the used bin, and all the emulators/plug-ins I would want work on my 3000, with them still being worked on (so the scene really hasn’t been “dead”). Plus, Media Go still works with 5.03 GEN-B (and C, I’m guessing), for the time being.

I say keep working behind the scenes, with not-so-shaky youtube clips given as “updates” before everyone finds out that, actually, “MGS Peace Walker requires 10.01 OFW, and needs to detect at least 3 downloaded MGS Digital Graphic Novels!” or something.

  Some of those releases people enjoy a ton. Such as KH: Birth by Sleep, which has already a patch to attempt to stop it from working (in which they have succeeded, unfortunately) , and Sony is growing happier the more patches they release.
  
  That would be funny, if MGS Peacewalker needed 3 MGS Graphic Novels to work, than we NEED 6.20 CFW.

i know this isn´t relative to this article but there is a kingdom hearts birth by sleep game out but not playable, but apparently jap developers, are going to release a cfw under yoshihiro’s help on the team coming January 23 to be able to play it so I´m just wandering if there is going to be another cfw release

  I think that’s one of those “for fun” projects. I mean, currently it’s more practical to buy a DS than emulate it on a PSP.

i looed at the video on youtube….one. its a phat psp…1000. two. the vid is fake. No exploit was used to start running the .iso….Positioning of PSP on bed has altered too. You’ll see at the beginning of the clip that the sheeting surrounding is Blue with a green leaf several cm away from the PSP (13 Seconds in), again at 30 seconds in you can see it is still some cm away from PSP.. and again at 46 seconds. Only seconds later (at 54 seconds) you’ll see that the PSP (without being moved) has magically shifted on top of that green leaf.

I am not very familiar with the architecture of PSP, but I do not understand why it could not crack.

I see several options:
- Emulate a UMD drive, and instead transmit data to the flash memory.
- Connect the PSP to the Internet through a proxy, which will emulate the official site.
- Can be when Sony will update the firmware and when it is fully verify, then at the hardware level replace it with the corrects.

  Smart… Too bad you can’t really emulate a UMD drive without CFW, unless you mean somehow creating a wirtual disk which is impossible. Maybe it would be possible if some rouge developer could install a flashing software on a UMD, or just code Sony’s approval into homebrew and other stuff. They would know, how else do they fix bricked PSP’s?

    I like version with a proxy. Look, There’s only one problem, when Sony signed the game for each console – use MAC. But we can change the MAC-address. It is not very easy, but we can do it – open PSP and replace that chip with the MAC-address. Then we can for example download one game from the official site, and then fully emulate all this site. And PSP will not be able to distinguish between official site, from our own.

Hmmm…… It seems that none of you have heard of Datel’s new Action Replay. go to their site http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/Action-Replay-for-PSP-1000-2000-3000–PSPgo___EF000835v.aspx
and download the demo. Works on any firmware!!! this probably means datel has found a way to encrypt their software with sony’s exclusive code that makes eboots work. If you plan to try this use a usb cable to connect your psp to your computer and not just put your memory stick in your computer

I don’t understand why PSP is useless without CFW.
PSP itself is still useful with OFW.
CFW is just extention of what PSP officially can do.
Its nothing really, if you don’t care about homebrews and plugins.

Okay, I cant make much sense of this. Sry, but just to clarify, the problem with OFW 6.20 was an issue with allowing a game to be run from the memory card and in issue with saving correct? So, is this CFW 6.20 that will fix these problems and allow a person with a PSP-2000 to play Birth by Sleep?
