PSP Firmware 6.30 Released.

6.30 Released.

Yep, we knew it was coming and now its all official. Sony have released Firmware 6.30. As expected it has patched all know exploits, Patapon 2 Demo Save Data Exploit. No no more loader. Its alos even patched Datels Action Replay software. So like we always mention and will do so again – Don’t update if you want to continue having fun on 6.20 with the , emulators and homebrew etc. Whats also interesting is it seems Sony is bringing official emulator support to the PSP. PC Engine aka Turbo Grafx 16 and NeoGeo folders have been spotted inside the new firmware..Hmmmm what are you up to Sony? (PC Engine / Neogeo Source: Fist full of potions)

Games can now be grouped and displayed in folders based on format under [Game].

      but, when download an emulator u are playing a game from a different company. i dont think sony would allow nintendo to do anything with their games or content.

      They are currently paranoid about everything. Given the past with easy hack of ROMs, now they try to block any attempt they see. Remember what they did to Linux on PS3?

    emulators… nice, but thats not exactly what we want… we need a section where users can ost thier homebrew to be approved by sony, then we can have gotube, thats all i need, more is better but all i need is gotube, and emulators

      I agree. If we can have a way to get Sony approve specific homebrew games and put them online as Minis, then we’ll have a near perfect relationship with them.

        I also agree. Though, Sony already has this. Let me explain the steps toward getting a program approved:
        -
        1.) Talk to Sony and get their latest compatibility requirements (all games hosted on Playstation Network must be compatible with all versions of PSP, etc.)
        2.) Send in your program for approval
        3.) Hopefully it gets published on PlayStation Network

        I was told this by a Sony employee. I would love to see the need for Custom Firmware go away, but unfortunately I don’t think Sony will ever allow firmware plug-ins.

        but the thing is that those companys that made those gams, such as nintendo, will no way in a million years have their games on the psn store…

    Well if Sony does release some emulators for the new firmware, i bet there wont be a N64 one since Microsoft owns the rights to Nintendo 64 games. And there is no way im upgrading from 6.20. Im loving the homebrew and Daedalus too much.

      yeah pretty sure Nintendo owns the rights to Nintendo 64 considering they created it not Microsoft

        Yes Nintendo own most of the rights but Microsoft bought some rights to certain games such as Perfect Dark and most games made by Rare.

      Er…Microsoft only owns the rights to Rare, and even then N64 is owned by Nintendo.

        But it does mean the classics most people would go for are controlled by Microsoft. ANd since Sony is the competition, i doubt they’ll say yes to letting Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and all those be downloadable for PSP.

    i think there released 6.30 because of HBL
    and also the new games that is working only on 6.20 (but using promotheus it can work :D )
    and i think now the latest coming game now is can only work on 6.30 i think they patch the promotheus too……

    can this possibly mean that gen or some other dev group will create a more advanced cfw now that this is out…..? hopefully bcuz im only having half of the fun of my psp 3000 bcuz of the emulators and hbl.

    though maybe it will be delayed, for sony has probably paid gen to not create a cfw or something. also I just bought a metal gear solid peace walker game (hella cool for adhoc party) and i need to share with my cousin and brother so i can play with them.

    I’ll probably just buy another game for them.

    Well if you guys own a PS3 you’re probably on version 3.40. NOTE: Whenever there is an update for the PS3 there is bound to be a new update for the PSP to support the PSN. Hmmm guys just don’t update because complaints will arouse “Can I get CFW on a PSP with 6.30 for PSP 2000/3000?” Just don’t update. Spread the word!!!

    Don’t UPDATE!! Stay on 6.20 because that version is being worked on with exploits. If you own a hackable PSP like the original PSP phat go ahead and test it out but for those who own PSP 2000′s/ 3000′s don’t freaking update to 6.30. If you’re on a lower update than 6.20 (eg. 5.50 OFW) then look for the 6.20 OFW and stay on that if you like and use the HBL Exploit!

    So Sony finally did it. FW 6.30! Really nice, Sony! Except one thing…I’m having too much fun with HBL right now! I mean come on: NeoGeo and Turbo Grafix? Really?! Not enough, Sony, not enough. Plus a CFW for 6.20 is currently being developed…or so I hear. Is this correct PSPfan?

    Man every freakin time we get a small crack in SONY BLOCKS US OUT WHAT THE HELL MAN. I just want to play HOMEBREW I’m not going to steal your worthless PSP games SONY WTF. We didn’t even get 3 months with the exploit and Sony Screwed us. DON’T UPDATE TO SONY PSP FIRMWARE 6.30, Sucks for me cause I sent in my PSP 3000 yesterday for them to fix the screen and now they might update it.

        You just destroyed your last chance to any kind of homebrew loader or CFW…If you have a PSP 1000,or an old 2000,that’s good,because you can use a Pandora Baterry to hack your PSP,but if not…You can’t do anything.You’ll have to wait for another exploit which work with FW 6.30.ChickHEN does not work since 5.50 lol xD

    I think Sony is starting to realize that emulators in the psp is fun.
    Why don’t they just allow Homebrew while blocking piracy at the same time.
    The PSP Go isn’t worth hacking coz we can download games, it is a part of it’s feature.
    Sony C’mon! but this new emulator support is a start.
    As a PSP 3000 owner I still dream of a full CFW.
    PSP Go owners does not need to worry.
    Coyotebean’s kernel exploit could still exist.
    To all devs leak the exploit, if it does not exist on FW 6.30

    I have just updated my psp 3000 from 5.03 to 6.30 firmwire and now i cannot play any game….when i open game folder it says no game….but videos and songs are working
    guys is there any way to fix it or go back to older version
    any my memory card information says unknown…..does this cause any problem….bcz untill now i am using fake memory card but i can play games

      Are you talking about ISOs or games you get from the PS Store?If youre talking about ISOs,well,obviously its not working,that hack works only with FW 5.03 .And you cannot go back to the older versions.

        You cant do anything.This is what I learned when I make the same mistake as you,updating to 6.20 from 5.03.Lol,at first I wanted so much downloaded games…I almost buy a PS2 just for that xD But then PSP Joke’s exploit showed up and I started to hope.Then the second one 6.20 exploit come in the same week as the first one.The 3rd one was the ,,Half Boiled” exploit by manosuke,the fourth is Patapon 2 exploit A.K.A. HBL,and the 5th is the exploit descovered by Team Project XX. Now everything you can do is just to hope that is gonna be the same with 6.30 too;I saw wololo saying that if a exploit is found,he will update HBL to that exploit(making HBL compatible with 2 exploits).So if only ONE exploit is released,you’ll be saved by HBL :) Yeah,HBL does not load load ISOs,but belive me,after I passed your currently situation,I really looooooved the homebrews..

        @vichanath No.You will not be able to play ISOs even if you update to 6.31,or any OFW which will appear later.Just give it up…Updating to any OFW will not help you in anyway,unless you love so much PSN.When you will be able to install CFW on a certain OFW and play ISOs,I’m sure PSP Fan will anounce it here.Until then,you can NOT do anything.To make it easier,dont make any move with your FW until a kernel exploit is reported here,ok?

    Don’t trust Sony. Emulators are cool but theres nothing better then the sweet install on cfw. I updated to 6.20 from 5.50 and now realise I missed the Emulator for GBA.

    I think this Emulator is not true. And Sony will no doubt be selling at a price.

      A homebrew its a non-official game/application.For example,emulators or the famous Jelly Car.But obviously,there are MANY more homebrews like theese,doing a lot of things.If you like so much ISOs,then you should know that someone is working on an ISO loader for HBL.I dont know at the moment if it will ever load something,neither I care,but two or three PSP hacking devs are working on it,so maybe something could show up.And yeah I agree with RockerZ6613 A.K.A. Papison…Sony make a very stupid move if you ask me;What’s next?Will they give donuts to those who update? xD And vichanath,just if you didn’t know,an exploit its the start point of an eLoade-HEN,with no rute or anything.When an eLoader or a HEN is 100% done with that exploit,you could say that the exploit reached the finish becoming a HEN or an eLoader.I hope I helped…. :D

        To everyone I just thought of this:

        Answer:
        HBL(Homebrew loader) only supports low level homebrew, and well Hellcat’s flasher is high level type application.
        The TA-090v2 cpu has a tricky Pre-IPL that does a checksum and compare the current IPL with other versions of IPLs to be installed.If the IPL passes the checksum of the security(Pre-IPL) then everything that the PSP unpacks from the Eboot.PBP will be flash into the NAND of the PSP.This happens when the CPU thinks that it is legit.

        Well the new CPU(TA-090v2) does not support downgrading even if it’s IPL is legit.
        It’s CPU is different and so are it’s actions to CIPL(custom initial program loader)
        Even if we manage to downgrade our PSP 3000, It will BRICK coz everytime we update our PSP 3000 it’s hardware is also patch to increase security and avoid any forms of downgrade.

        If only the psp 3000 has a service tool it would be possible coz the CPU does not argue when we supply a legit IPL into a MS with the unknown battery serial.
        note: “0xFFFFFFFF(pandora) and 0×00000000(auto-boot) does not work with the psp 3000 but we know service mode is embeded coz it’s design is based with the 2000s except only the CPU is changed and a new screen and mic module.

        But if we are able to get and dump the kernel keys we might have a 6.30 exploit and an enabler.
        But the devs these days are selfish, the recent 6.20 exploit by Coyotebean won’t be released due to the rareness of finding an exploit.
        So the PSP scene is kinda slow and some say it is dead.

        Yeah,you’ll have to wait until a CFW will come up.No,no OFW will ever load ISO/CSO.Sony is crazy about piracy,so the answer is for FW 6.30,6.40,6.50 and any firmware that will come up in the future,NO.

    im not a noob i know many things about the psp i have hacked many psp’s
    but i want to be a dev and i want to know how are psp firmwares workin’ so please people can u help me?

      Yeah,you should learnC++ Programming.But just because you hacked a lot of PSPs does not mean you have experience.At my time,I hacked A LOT of PSPs too with ChickHEN, Pandora Baterry,using HBL and things like this.But then I started to learn things like what’s flash0,flash1,etc,and I realised that I actually didn’t know anything,even if I thought I know a lot of things(creating a Pandora Baterry isn’t really the Ultimate Hacking skill ;) ).Anyway,the best start up is to learn as much things about the PSP system as you can,then you can learn how to code,then you should try to help other devs with litle issues,and then to make your own team and that’s all.I almost done with the first part,and starting from fall 2010 I’ll learn how to code.But still…That does not mean that I want to become a dev :P I’ ts just for fun to mess up with the exploits and do funny things with them :D (I’m NOT gonna mess up with flash0,NEVER EVER).

        It will take years if you want to be a dev.But first you should learn how to code a Hello World.I’m sure Google will help you to learn C++.And BTW,your english is very good for someone from iraq.I seen people which are from America and their english is WAY worse…

    but dont u think that “years” are so much? there will be a new gen of psp’s and my CFW wont be useful LOL :)

      No,years are not so much.I have a friend which learned C++ for 4 years,and he still isn’t able to code a thing such as an eLoader.Sure,after at least one year you could code low-level homebrews,like simple-turn.Its not as easy as it looks…Even if h.bin from the ChickHEN looks like a simple binary file,there are more than one houndred codes in it.

      Maybe you could need only a half of a year,but all of us most go to work or to school so its hard to make time for learning how to code too.And also there are some C parts,so…. :D Sure,it would be easy to learn C++ with no school or work and eveything would be fine,but I guess the life is unfair,right?

        The PSP’s Firmware is a low level C programing.
        If you want to try download PSPSDK, cygwin and a C++ Compiler.

Though it will take precious time out of free time, I’m sure we’ll reach something.:D @hacktester and Psp Bricker: what if you guys compile a team of up to 7 members or higher…..how long do you think it will take to compile a h.bin file or whatever?

      Remember DA started out through forum.
      The things is, getting the source codes from DA and Team GEN won’t be easy.
      We need Mathieulh’s guide if we are to be successful coz we don’t have the information at the moment.

        Mathieulh was part of Team M33 as beta tester and assisted on Dark_Alex’s work.
        Only he can grant us access and provide support for new Devs in the Homebrew Community.

        Yeah good idea but I’m going on holidays tommorow xD Anyway,next week I’ll be back.I’m not really intrested in making a HEN or a CFW or whatever….I wanna start with something original.For example, I saw at a meeting on some kind of programming contest a Game Maker game working on a PSP,as prize for who win. I think it would be cool if we could somehow convert PSP games into Game Maker games.However,I’m not sure if the GM game was converted into an ISO or an EBOOT.PBP,but you must admit that it would be nice to see even a demo on PC :D But really guys,I think its too early for this.Except Papison,none of us is able to code at least a Hello World,not talking about homebrews and other very hard things to do.

    Yeah… all of this action looks great. As soon as Version 6.30 was released, a kernel exploit was found. The hacking scene is fast and quick, but team GEN and others are only focused on the older Custom Firmware versions like 5.50. They don’t think it’s a good idea to release a new Custom Firmware because users with 5.50 are content. Team GEN isn’t even thinking about all the other people new to the scene. Also, Dark Alex is gone and Team M33 is disbanded (if I remember correctly about M33), so maybe we should attract some more developers or something.

    Anyways, I was playing Super Mario Bros. Chaos Control on my 6.20 PSP and it was great.

      By the way I have the 3.40 LE source codes that has been leaked ages ago.
      The 3.40 LE(Leaked Edition) was a complete reverse of DA’s Open edition CFW by TEAM WILDCARD
      I have no plans sharing with other people that might leak it again.
      The download link for the source codes have been terminated because of Sony getting the Idea to patch the loopholes which in fact they did. The 3.40 LE’s source code is a good start in understanding how the previous PSP System works.
      Just stay in contact and I might send you the source code from a private account when your ready.

    i tried to update my psp 1000 to 6.30…it doesn’t let me because i have 5.50 prometheus….how do i update it i? i tries with psp>game>UPDATE>eboot.pbp..ant it doesn’t update it…i tried through and still nothing

      Why are you updating it? you already have cfw. If I were you, stay with 5.50 prometheus. there is no cfw for 6.30
