PSP Firmware 5.03 Released. Gripshift patch?

Official PSP Firmware 5.03 Released

Sony have released Official 5.03,well we have no comments on exactly what this does. It seems there are no updates or added features other than to fix a security vulnerability found in the latest PSP system software revision? Hmmm that sounds like they have patched the Gripshift savegame exploit / hack for the PSP-3000. So if I was a PSP-3000 owner I wouldn’t jump on the bandwagon and download this.

    I beat that Sony did patch the gripshift exploit. I mean what else would it be?

    I’d have to agree.
    The only security risk known by the public is the Grip Shift exploit, & even if there was another one, we’d still want to keep it vulnerable!! Maybe Other hacks will come out of it :P

      It took them a while the gripshift exploit has been out for a while now.

      never update your psp to the 5.02 or 5.03 otherwise you can’t play iso/cso games.if you have updated then you have will have to downgrade or hack your psp

    Um. I think the games is called “GRIPshift”. Not “GIFTshift” LOL! And yeah, that’s probably what it is, a patch for the Gripshift exploit. It sucks ’cause I still have 4.01 firmware in hopes that they will hack it and it will be to my advantage, but I don’t have access to PSN :( .

      i agree to not upgrade, but lets be realistic here, if you don’t have gripshift yet, then you wont get it without wasting 100 bucks. At that point just buy a psp 2k core for 150 and hack that

    hmm if the new firmware is to fix the gripshift exploit, i wonder if its possible to disassemble that fireware, and compare the codes to that of the hackable/gripshift firmware. if possible, maybe dark alex and those other developers might come up with a way to finally hack the psp 3000 fully haha meaning no gripshift needed :D

        If you do that on a 3k then the screen just becomes unusable because they use two different ways to refresh. a couple of vids are up on youtube

    i know royginald.. i’ve seen his video how he slightly hacked the 3000.. i’ve heard it from some kids there.. they go to the mall they called “megamall”?? then they just pay for the downloaded game.. many kids buy psp 3000 there but they don’t spread the news that their psp3000 is now downloadable.. maybe they have figured it out how to make the psp3000 work.. \m/

    Hey I purchased Sony PSP new latest version & I download version 5.03 system update, after i knew it will not work for download game of CSO type………..I try Dr. Alex Firmware of M33-6 but still its not working can u pleas guide me how it will work of downloaded game in slim stick of 2GB.

      You need to have your psp hacked before you can install a custom firmware -_-

    How do you know if your psp3000 is hacked? I purchased the psp in China and the guy put about 60 games and 6 movies on my psp. Does that mean he hacked it? It took him about 20 minutes and the games and movies were on it.

      A individual cannot hack a PSP… especially from china
      I doubt you either have a PSP-2000, or got ripped off

    what about the new light blue tool that was released on january 16 they actually said that it will put custome firmware on your psp didnt you guys know that but i do not think anyone tried it yet we should wate till dark alex buys it off amazon for about thirty buks someone should try the new tool battery and if it doesnt work then then take it back it has a woranty and contact us and tell us if it does not work because i am really being inpationt i should of got the psp 2000 and if it doesnt work we could just get the gripshift game and install cfw 5.02GEM-A and just go from there people are making new and more hombrews for it and it will work on any psp its better than nothing

    in my case, ofw 5.03 blocks pandora batteries and magic memsticks from running, preventing the psp from being modified,

    hope cfw 5.03m33 comes out soon >.<

    People in the philippines are pirates. We do everything to satisfy ourselves… I guess this would be one of our greatest assets… :p

    i used to have a psp 2000, and i had it fully hacked myself but it bricked so i got a psp 3000 knowing it was hack proof at the time i got it regardless, i got 5.03 ofw, because it only had 4. somthing. Im wondering if the lite blue tool can downgrade it. If datel can some what do it then shouldnet Dark_Alex be able to maybe?

    well once i get some money imgoing to buy the new battery tool and magic memory stick off of amazon.com and if it does not work i will tell you unless eather one of your will do it and if it does not work we could just uy the gripshift game and install cfw 5.02-GEM-A and just stick with that.if you install that it kind a means your psp 3000 is hacked and i heard from people that there making new hombres for 5.02GEM-A and there trying to make the same hombrews as the originaly hacked psp can take

    i have a psp 2000 (slim and light) with ofw 5.03 now i tryed to downgrade it and when i insert the magicstick and pandoras battery it turns on but it dont want to read from memory stick. i changed the memo stick to a normal 1 and the original batt, it works but why i cant downgrad it? i downgrade several psps and never find this prob

    any help pls?

    I own a PSP slim 2000 version and yesterday I repulsivley upgraded my firmware to 5.03. I had plans to get a psp tool battery and create a magic stick in hopes of enabling hombrew and ISO files. I know wonder if the new patch will affect my plans now.Any response is appreciated.

    I’ve been out of the PSP hacking scene for about 2 years. I’ve updated to 5.03 by mistake.

    On my PSP, I’ve made the MMS & did the physical Pandora battery mod. I used PSPGrader008 in Ubuntu, and everything worked just fine. I’m waiting for the battery to finish charging. I’m wondering if I just screwed myself over or not.

    My goal is to have 1.50 so I may run emulators and homebrew software.

    Someone help!
