PSP Firmware 5.00 is now live

is now live

As planned Sony have released PSP Firmware 5.0 via the network update feature or download below. Release changes:

* The [PlayStation Network] category has been added, and [PlayStation Store] is now available under this category.
* The sleep timer feature can now be used under [Music]
* The system will automatically change to USB mode when a USB cable is connected.
* The [Original] theme has been redesigned

If your really keen to have it you can download it below, otherwise wait for 5.00 M33.

    Its nice I like the redesign of the theme and the PSP store is easy to use and login etc. Its like the style is following the PS3. Plus there is now a new full screen keyboard. All and all its a good update and worth Dax’s efforts to make 5.00 M33 :)

    I’ll take a few screens of it.

    Even 4.01 M33 took more than a week.

    Few updates? That doesn’t mean that it will make the process any shorter. Its 5.00 kernel now, so many things have changed (eg. keys, nids).

    Your guess is 5 days.. exactly my point.

    Wooo. New theme, nice. Will this include a 5.xx kernel? No.. because it would include the same kernel as the TA-088 v3 (4.xx) wouldn’t it? I wonder what they changed, besides cosmetically.

    i think DAX is the 1 who will mk custom firmware. he has the guts and if he has much time he can do this in few days
    w8ing for psp3000 to be hacked and also ps3

    So judging from the fourth post (I think) I can update my PSP to 5.00 and then put CFW on it using Pandora Battery and Magic Mem without problems? I’ve been afraid all day to isntall it. Can someone confirm this.

    I agree with Oscar can someone confirm that they done the flash to 5.00 but then pandoraed bak to 3.71 M33, 3.90 M33 etc with Desperator Cementrio (pandora)? Thnx

    yeah i have flashed to 5.00 and pandorad back to 3.71m33 and then installed 4.01 m33-2. it works just fine

    @Simon – I was thinking that the new motherboards only operated 4.xx kernel. So the new psp models would have to include 4.xx kernel. I doubt 5.00 will introduce 5.xx kernel would it? They just made 4.xx!

    I installed DC7 on my memstick, then updated to 5.00 so now i can use both firmware at the same time

    When i upgraded to 5.00, i could log into the store. i looked at the games and stuff on it. it worked just fine. i signed up for an account and logged in, no errors. then downgraded to 4.01 m33-2.

    I had my psp flased to custom firmware 3.90 m33. Do you need the pandora battery to flash to 4.01 M33 or will it mess up with the normal battery in? And what is the difference.

    How can i downgrade or install 5.00m33 to my psp(2000) from 5.0 ofw. I have no idea.. I tried dc7, pandora but when i tried to run it, it just says “game cannot be started, data might be corrupted”. something like that.

    Hi, i have with my psp. i want to play my new game(FIFA09) but i can’t because my psp always says “game could not be started error DADADADA.” Now i’ve tried to download new versions via network and through USB but it still says the same, even when trying to upload the upgrade.
    Does anyone have any advice?

    I have the fat PSP and I upgraded to firmware 5.00. I found the custom firmware 5.00m33. I instaled it and evrething and when i got to the game —> to instal it on my psp it tell me that the game cannot be started and the data is corrupted.
