PSP Firmware 4.05 Released

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Sony have released PSP Firmware 4.05. Don’t get excited its nothing special…. Just some new music player visual effects. Heres the huge changelog:

* New effects have been added to the visual player under [Music"].

I guess Divx support was and will always be just a rumor.

i was just watching a video of a demonstration of 4.05 and it looks like you can now exit out of the music player and it will still be playing music while u are going through system settings for instance

hhhmmmmmmmm im pretty much satisfied with having .mp4 as video format, you see psp dont need divx, as of now… coz the only available memory stick in the market is only at 8Gb and we all know a(n) .avi format movie weighs, yikes a massive, almost 1Gb… that will most likely fill ur mem stick in no time… though as of now the down side is that you have to convert every damn movie if you wanted to watch movies in ur psp if and only if a 10Gb mem stick is already available guess .avi format is a nice thing to upgrade on about. that is what i think it is

with this firmware update, geee only a visual player? just a visual player? come on sony, you can do better than that yikes feel free to reply…

Man, I’m getting bored with Sony… They really need to send out an update that we actually give a damn about… I wonder if anyone is actually still using sony updates (on purpose) these days?

I just tried to download some themes from the PSN store but it won’t let me. I would have to update from 4.01. So has anyone tested downgrading from OFW 4.05 to CFW 4.01?

anyone can help me please.. my psp cfw 4.01 m33-2 have a problem, i don’t know how to fix it.. because every time im in the game and holding the square buttons its starting to “DUMPING” a memory dump appears.. i don’t know why!! i don’t think were the problem is.. the other plugins or the OFW i have.. please help..

“While the official change log of firmware 4.05 is underwhelming, it does feature a key hidden feature: support for movie and TV service. According to this support page on PlayStation.com, “Support for PLAYSTATION®Store Movies and TV video service” has also been added in firmware 4.05. Undoubtedly, we’re going to find out more about this service during tomorrow’s E3 conference.”

Just read this on an other site. 4.05 sounds more intriguing.

@Nying, its a bug in CWcheat. Disable it. If that doesn’t work, delete it off your memory stick.

I would’nt recomend you guys to update to ver. 4.05. because i tried it and it really sucks. your ISO games wont be detected and there’s no acces to recovery mode..

4.1 m33-2 is way better than this if you ask me….
accidental upgrade to ofw 4.05

I accidentally upgraded my psp to ofw version 4.05 and found out that there isn’t an existing cfw for it.can anybody help me by teaching me what to do?it sucks cause i can’t play any iso games anymore.i’ve heard about downgrading it to ofw 4.01 and then changing it to cfw 4.01 m 33 but i don’t know how to downgrade it.can anybody help?any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

Mann I feel the same way, Im havig trouble finding a way to downgrade my psp from 4.05. But if I could downgrade my official firmware to 4.01
Then I could be a step closer to having custom firmware right

Im going to try and downgrade my psp slim because i have done it b4 but not with 4.05. I updated to 4.05 because i wasnt thinking of going back to cfw. But it’s way tooooo boooooooorrrriiiiinnng for me so im going to try and use a program called TOTALNewbieasyinstaller which installs 3.71m33 and i also have already made my pandora battery, but my old mem stick was a fake and is broken so im buying a new mem stick and a battery by next week and then install cfw 3.71m33 and i will make a youtube video about it.

Please there seems to be many out there that wants to know how to do this. (Hopefully without PANDORA)

One problem is that I can not make a PANDORA stick with OFW.
Is there anyway to create a PANDORA stick on the PC with a image file for exapmle?

Well thats may problem. I can’t make the magic stick with my 2 PSPs One phat OFW 4.05, and one slim OFW 4.05
Trying to run “Despertar Cementerio” ends with the message
“The game could not be started. (80020148)”

Is there ANY way of making the magic stick from the an XP PC?
Isn’t there someone who have an zipped image of a working magic stick? (The IPL can be installed from a XP PC).
But since I cant run the “Despertar Cementerio” I dont have the ‘msipl.bin’?

f*uck u all all u need to do is crack open ur phat psp battery remove the sixth pin and voula u got pandora(warning may explode BATTERY) the make ur memory stick into magic

Same With me I Updated to 4.05 on my psp slim and you cant download full psp games (only Demos) but at least I can download music and movies but it isn’t the same as cfw, I used to like downloading games to my psp. So I Also Advise not to update.
If you want to download music on your psp go to downloads.nl on your psp browser, search for the music you want and download it.

You cannot downgrade psp 4.05 firmware as there is no downgrader for it. So if you have torrent try and search 4.05m33 and update otherwise you cannot do anything.
