PSP Demo: Kentoushi Gladiator Begins

This Japanese demo took me by surprise. I was expecting to see gun-swords, over sized weapons and your typical silly Japanese stuff in ancient Rome. But I was amazed to see that this game is taking itself seriously. No gun swords, no moggles, no talking cats that I could see. Developed and published by Acquire, Kentoushi Gladiator Begins is a great demo for what looks to be an awesome game.

The demos been out in Japan for a few weeks now and from the moment I figured out the Japanese menu system – I’m hooked. This Gladiator game is a action game with RPG elements. You create your own Gladiator, set their Strength, vitality and endurance and start your training. The gameplay is good, you can pick up weapons. Swap weapon hands, knock weapons and armor of your enemies. I even found I could fight with two shields using a type of shield bash fighting style lol. The game has combos too that you can later level up. Holding down certain attacks also powers them up to deliver more damage.

All the items in the game have stats, The amount of damage they do or what armor and protection they give. So you have your RPG part of the game right there. As you win duels in the arena your given Exp points and your Gladiator levels up.

This is one game I’m looking forward to buying, its Japanese Release date is tomorrow. And a USA/Euro release is confirmed, however no data is set.

I’ve been waiting for a game like this and here it is…Finally. So I highly recommend this demo to anyone that likes Gladiator, 300 or decent action/fighting games!

Requires FW 6.10 on non Custom Firmware. Tested on my PSP-2000 with 5.50 GEN-D3 and PSP Go 6.10. To install this place the NPJH folder in PSP/GAME on your MS pro or Mass memory
