PSP Custom Firmware 6.20 PRO-B4 & 6.35 PRO-B4. Perm CFW!

Share

It’s what many of you have been waiting for, thanks to coldbrid & Virtuous Flame aka Liquidzigong who have just released Custom Firmware 6.20/-B4. With -B4 you can permanently patch -B4 into your PSP flash memory! Many changes in this custom firmware. To run the first run the PRO B4 update. To make it permanent, run the compatibility check first by running fake vshmain to see everything is ok. This will check to make sure your PSP model is compatible with the perm patcher. It will reboot into PRO-B4, if it doesn’t or it crashes or reboots into . Don’t use the perm patch!

The perm patch is only for 6.20 FW, so if you really want to perm it. Downgrade to 6.20.

Wondering about compatibility? Well here’s the list: 6.20 CFW PRO_B4 works on 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g and 5g models & CFW 6.35 PRO-B4 works on all models upto 9g.
Make sure you read the perm-patch notes below, specially if you manage to brick.

PSP -B4 & 6.35 PRO-B4 changelog

  • Added 6.20 OFW Kernel Support
  • Added 6.20 Type 2 PRX Permanent Bootloader
  • Improved NID Resolver (Including 6.20 <-> 6.35 NIDs)
  • Improved Game Compatiblity via Anti-NBGI Fixes
  • Added Inferno OSS ISO Driver (Improves Compatiblity and Speed)
  • Fixed BGM Playback Bug in Recovery Menu
  • Improved Satellite Permission Detection
  • Fixed Skype Crash Bugs
  • Added Custom PSX Manual Support
  • Added version.txt Display Support
  • Added Parental Level Check for ISO / CSO
  • Some small fixes we probably forgot about…

How to perm patch the CFW.

  • Pressing R while booting loads the recovery.
  • Pressing Select while booting loads OFW.
  • When applying the Permanent Patch, choose X on first question and O on second to install, two times X only tests whether your device is compatible with our Permanent Bootloader.
  • Should you manage to brick yourself, try pressing O+X+Select+Start while turning your PSP on. It will trigger a emergency uninstall.

We flashed and patched 6.20 PRO B4 to our PSP Go 5g without issues...

hey I’m at 5.03gen-c and was wondering do u think i should upgrade to this permanent patch.
Only thing i am scared of is if i cannot go permanent by the test and then I am stuck on 6.2. Is the none permanent version just as good or better than 5.03 gen-c?

or can the test be run when i am on 5.03?

    • Acid_Snake

I suggest you to try, you can always downgrade or use the non permanent one.

  • Peasant001

So, I have a PSP 3K 6.37. I’ve spent the past hour searching for a means to downgrade it, but it seems there is not a known method yet, signed or otherwise. Does anyone know of my options at this point?

    • PRO KING

Use Davee Downgrader It Should Work Hopefully

      • Peasant001

According to what I’ve read, Davee Downgrader was patched in 6.37; it won’t work.

  • im a noob

guys, will this work on psp go? my psp go is currently on ofw 6.35 and running 6.35pro-b3. since im using a pspgo im guessing its a 5g model,im not sure… anyway, will the perm patch work on 6.35 or do i really need to downgrade to 6.20?

    • DUHHH……………..

check ur psp go motherboard first, if ur motherboard is 6g above, than do not downgrade it to 6.20 (use PSPident to check ur motherboard) if it is 5g or lower, downgrade it and use the 6.20 pro b4 perm patch

hope this is useful 2 u………
(i wont be responsible if u brick ur psp)

I know the game loads without aloader but the rest are the same alomost I think. Well is Pro-B4 run Fusa_SD plugins? If yes than it is worth it

  • dan

yes, you really need to downgrade to 6.20

  • Scorinitron

Guys if it doesn’t work and your psp is in the compatibly list recharge your battery. After I did that it worked like a charm on my psp 3001 but I downgraded from 6.35 to 6.20 to get the perms patch

    • MrZer017

Hey dude since you downgraded to 6.20 is there any game compatibility differences? because I’m on 6.35 PRO-B4 right now and it might be a hassle to downgrade then some new games won’t work..

    • fencho

if u’r gonna use the 6.20pro-B4, you need to update your OFW to 6.20 first

I can’t upgrade from 5.50 prom cfw to 6.20 ofw… says that I have fw 9.90 and has no need to update, what’s going on? I googled through net for any infos but no luck, saw another with same problem but it seems it wasn’t answered. If anyone know please reply or direct me to the guide, thanks in advance.

    • MrZer017

5.50 Prometheus has a noob protection program (or so i assume) to prevent updating so you won’t lose the CFW.. but since you’re on prom.. i also assume you have a hackable mobo.. try using pandora battery to downgrade to a lower firmware then update to 6.20.. that might fix your problem.. :)

      • myrtilus

Is using pandora the safest way for upgrade/downgrading? if it is then I should get one or make one. About the problem I was able to find the solution in a Japanese blog, I only needed to rewrite the version.txt stating ‘this version is 9.90′ to lower firmware than the firmware I’m going to update to.. anyway thanks for your help, much appreciated.

      • MrZer017

i dunno if pandora is actually the safest.. but i do know that pandora is the most effective downgrading tool.. since you have CFW i recommend just creating one.. and also a magic memory stick that you can also make with a 1gb mem stick…

  • panais

this means when i turn off coplete my psp im not going to lose my cfw plz replay

yes this is more stable u dont even need an iso loader and more plugins work too

HOW TO REMOVE thE PERMANENT PATCH? Then Back to 6.20 OFW

  • Geoffrey66

Wow, is this also for 2000 TA88v3?

  • Alex

Hi there, I have 5.03 GEN-C installed in a PSP-3000. Do you recommend me to update it? I mean with the 5.03 GEN-C I have all i need, because it’s full compatible with emulators & iso’s… But in the other hand it’s not a permanent firmware. What shall I do?

    • MrZer017

I recommend going for 6.20PRO, my other PSP had a 5.03 GEN-C when i tried to play God Eater Burst it freezes after you swing your sword.. it has to be patched still to be compatible for lower FW.. while 6.20 PRO doesn’t need that plus it’s a perma patch.. no more HEN ->CFW even after turning off your PSP completely…

    Does this work on PSP-1xxx???

  • Navin

    Greeting Brothers,

Well I have tried both 6.20TN-D Permanent Patch and Now I am running on 6.20Pro-B4.

The diffrences between this two CFW is:-

1.TN-D -> Uses Aloader(iso loader) to load all the games, and you can see when it loads the game
1.1. Pro-b4-> Uses and internal loader that u can’t see.

    2.TN-D-> Games loading is slower.
2.1. Pro-B4-> Loads game in no time due to inbuilt loader.

    3. TN-D-> Games are runs a bit slower.
3.1. Pro-B4-> Games runs very well and very smooth.

4.TN-D-> Recovery Menu is much better
4.1 Pro-B4-> Recovery Menu is not better due to no GUI whereas TN-D does have gui.

    5. TN-D-> Hang whenever you load and improper plugins
5.1. Pro-B4-> Also Hang whenever you load and improper plugins.

    6. TN-D-> Overclock not available
6.1. Pro-B4-> Overclock Available, Infact you just leave as default and it is runs the game very well.

    7. TN-D-> FUSA-SD plugins doesn’t work and will cause you PSP to hang and needed to remove the battery in order to restart
7.1.Pro-B4-> Guess what also same. This mean we still have to play games in cut version whenever you connect to ur LCD or TV.
    __________________________________________________________________________________

Well How to Install 6.20Pro-B4 When you already Have TN-D permanent Patch on your PSP?

    1. Just Run the TN-D Permanent Patch again and It will ask to uninstall. Just Uninstall it. I will revert back to OFW 6.20. Warning! Make sure “vshorig.prx” file is on your root directory before you uninstall.

2.Now I assume u already download 6.20Pro-B4. Just extract it and there will be 3 folder. Copy those to ur PSP/Game folder.

    3. Disconnect ur usb then now run the 6.20Pro-B4 Update first. This just a test for your psp.then press X when it prompt and again press X when it prompt. If all when ok without crash and goes back to ur XMB or you PSP screen then you can carry on to the next steps.

4.Then you check your system setting u will fine it already update to 6.20pro-B4, but it is not yet permanent. The next step is run the 6.20Pro-B4 Permanent Patch and press X when it prompt the Press O when it prompt. It will Show Installed then goes back to XMB or PSP Screen.

Ignore Step 1 if you initially have OFW 6.20.

Remember you might see you have two same games. Well this is because of your plugin called Aloder. Disable it under recovery menu.

Thats it you are now successfully installed 6.20Pro-B4 permanent Patch for good. Do not update any new firmware after this where it might make ur PSP to unable to play any iso games. At the moment Sony has released 6.38 that is no CFW yet. So act smart. Well 6.20Pro-B4 also can be uninstall as 6.20TN-D.

Oh dear I forgot merely, I have Brite 3000v3.0 TA-093 OFW 6.20 initially then update to TN-C-> TN-D->
TN-D Permanent Patch->Rollback to OFW 6.20- Finally 6.20Pro-B4. So I think It should run TA-092 as well or any lower version of Motherboard.

    Thanks all for yor support.

    • Edyn

Thank you so much. That was a great help.

    • OlrahC

@Navin is the only thing that i’ll do to run this firmware? im sorry for the noob question but i does’nt really have an idea about this. it’ll be a great help if you reply. thanks!

      • Navin

        Hey OlrahC,

Well download first the 6.20Pro-B4 first and make sure u have OFW 6.20 on your PSP.

Then just extract 6.20Pro-B4 and u will find 3 folders. Copy those folders to ur PSP/Game folder.

Now just run the 6.20Pro-B4 Update(the third folder) press X when it prompt and then again X when it prompt. This a to test whether your psp is compatible, if your test goes back to psp screen or XMB successfuly then your PSP is hackable.

Now goto system setting and check your firmware and it should show 6.20Pro-B4, but this is not permanent.

Next run the actual 6.20Pro-B4 permanent patch, press X when it prompt and press O when it prompt. Your PSP should return to PSP screen back and now press select then you should see vsh menu and your firmware is still 6.20Pro-B4.

To test it is permanent switch off ur PSP and take off the battery. Turn it on u will fine no more normal PSP startup, it will skip the begining part and straight goes to PSP screen and now.. dump any psp iso/cso to iso folder and start the game.. U will find the game runs smoother than UMD. I can bet on it. Well thousand thanks to VFlame and ColdBird

I have a question, so if the label on the back of my psp is psp 3001 does that mean it’s 1g? So does 3002 mean 2g and so forth?

  • WinkyDinkyDonkey

Okay, I must be doing something wrong. The update to 6.20B4 PRO shows up corrupted now that I’m under 6.20 OFW. It showed up fine under 5.00 m33 so wth? :/

  • Henry

    I have a PSP 3004 Date code 8D with Original Firmware 6.20 using 6.20 TN-B at the moment. Should I try to patch 6.20 pro b4 or 6.35 pro B4 instead of 6.20 TN-B ?

    • Navin

Well you can upgrade to 6.20Pro-B4. just follow my instruction in this forum somewhere above.

      • Henry

I did that. 6.20 Pro B4 has better compatibility than 6.20 TN-B and saves some time – I like it. Thanks a lot.

So far I found only 1 not compatible game. While I couldnt play many more on 6.20 TN-B. I’m looking forward to further fixes/upgrades.

  • alastair

Dj Max Portable 3 is not working on this cfw…. =(

  • asasuke

can it use for psp 1000 and 2000 too?
i try it for psp 3000 and running well, but i dont know in psp 1000 or 2000?

    • Alex

All psp 1000 models, and the early 2000 models will work

  • Navin

Well DJMAx will work. just disable some of your plugins. If games not working then try disable plugins. It is the cause of your psp is not supporting the games.

  • Alex

Does anybody know if a game that requires 6.37 OFW (Duodecim) will work on this CFW? I have the UMD btw…
