PSP CFW 5.00 M33-4 Released!
Dark Alex has released PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33-4. CFW 5.00 M33-4 brings various bug fixes as well as a new shut down option from the VSH menu. Great for quickly turning off your PSP.
Changes:
- Speed selected for umd/iso was not properly locked in some new games that used scePower_EBD177D6 instead of scePowerSetClockFrequency to change speed.
- UMD/ISO speed settings now apply to PSN games too.
- Fixed libupdown.prx connecting to dark-alex.org instead of sony when npsignin_plugin checks for a new version and m33 update is enabled.
- Iso file descriptor was not closed in driver deletion
- Added a shutdown command to vshmenu.

LOL okays,
just to make sure again, so I can upgrade an original firmware to the custom firmware if only the original version is lower than the custom firmware yeah? so like original 4ish to custom firmware 5?

But I already have the custom firmware on my comp, cant i just load it onto my mem stick and upgrade it?

look joe IF you have custom firmware 5.00 m33 then you can easily just put the update folder and install it but if you’re on for example 4.01 m33-2 then you need the original 5.00 eboot in the same folder and that will be like updating to official firmware but don’t worry it’s not

FYI, I may have been mistaken on what was causing my PSP to freeze. I removed the FATMS371 mod and haven’t had any problems since (…yet). I don’t even notice a speed difference.

In case anyone cares, FATMS371 was definitely causing instability, but boy was I wrong about not noticing a speed difference… Just played GTA Vice city… big difference.

Ok. I am pretty new to PSP hacking, and I’m having a little bit of trouble. I have a PSP 1001 Phat. I have installed CFW 5.00 m33-4 using DC8 and it works well. Have some homebrew stuff that works well. I’m trying to install PSP Filer 5.7, so I have put the “filer” folder under the psp\games directory. Everytime I try to run it, I get a “Game could not be started” error with code 80020148. I have tried setting the “Game folder homebrew” setting in the recovery console to 1.5, but that didn’t work. Can anyone help me and tell me what I am doing wrong?

HEY GUYZ, I HAVE VER 5.02 ON MY PSP 2000. I DOWNLOADED THE 5.00 M33-4 FROM THIS SITE AND COPYED THE UPGRADE FOLDER INTO MY PSP. BUT WHEN I TRY TO RUN IT IT SAY “GAME CAN NOT RUN. DATA CORRUPTED.” CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT. I M TRYING TO RUN THESE HOMEBREW APPLICATION FROM A LONG TIME BUT NOTHING WORKED FOR ME. u need a pandora battery and magic memory stick to go to customs ask around with people u know who have custom firm wares and c if they have their pandora or who they borrowed from if thats the case

Ok, pull up the VHS menu(select) and change UMD ISO MODE to “Sony NP9660″ I don’t know why but it works.

i think all that you need to do is just download the software update and then inject it into ur psp and download it if that doesnt work then use ur pandora batter and magic memory stick to re downgrade ur psp to the original custom firmware but get the software that puts it in m33 format then just get the 5.00m33-4 software off a torrent site or filesharing site and download it then ur good to go

well if you go to psp folder then click on game folder you drag and drop the firmware in there and it will automaticly be in your memery card
