PSP CFW 5.00 M33-4 Released!

PSP CFW -4 Released!

Dark Alex has released PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 -4. CFW 5.00 -4 brings various bug fixes as well as a new shut down option from the VSH menu. Great for quickly turning off your PSP.

Changes:

- Speed selected for umd/iso was not properly locked in some new games that used scePower_EBD177D6 instead of scePowerSetClockFrequency to change speed.
- UMD/ISO speed settings now apply to PSN games too.
- Fixed libupdown.prx connecting to dark-alex.org instead of sony when npsignin_plugin checks for a new version and m33 update is enabled.
- Iso file descriptor was not closed in driver deletion
- Added a shutdown command to vshmenu.

    The shut down feature is cool. I don’t have to use a plug in for a quite shut-down any more

    Does it mean that 5.00 M33-3 can’t update through PSP’s internet connection?

    I heard its solved the issue of how the psp freezes after exiting homebrew applications or games. Its happened to me alot for applications ( not sure about games) so I guess I’m going to update early.

    @PSP-FAN: Why dosent anyone post up PSPTUBE updates? They are useful ^^. Was wondering how Ultimate PSP Tube 1.4 works since im still all the way back at Chronos since I was too lazy to update

    Well, to ultimate PSP Tube atleast, I’m not sure when that came out but I’ve heard good stuff about it. I read QJ twice a day but most of their updates are useless however some updates ( usually applications) are interesting to hear about.

    It’s a pretty decent firmware from what I hear.

    yo guys… im new in here…i mean i just bought my psp and i upgraded to this… where can i see the shut down command… i kinda dont know ma way around…:-)

    @thug_ashes: Go to the XMB (The place where your pictures are, music, videos etc.) and press select.

    thanx naruto…nothing is happening, i just did what you said… i have also IR Shell installed…could it be the problem?

    @Thug Ashes: I doubt IRshell is the problem. Ok, first, Hold your R trigger down. And dont let loose. Turn off your PSP. Make sure your still holding R. Then while holding R still, turn on your PSP. You should be in recovery mode. Go into configuration. Then in there, look for VSH Menu. Once you find it, it’ll either say Enabled or Disabled. If it’s disabled, go to the VSH menu selection and press X. Now it’s enabled. Go to back, then exit, and your PSP will boot. Try starting the VSH menu again.

    @kheil: Get the 5.00 OFW eboot then rename it to 500.PBP Then put it in the UPDATE folder, then put the UPDATE folder on your PSP Memory Stick.

    It goes in the game folder like this X://PSP/GAME

    (X is the drive your PSP is)

    …still nothing naruto…. i pressed the R button and i turned it off and the turned it on again…i did exactly what you said…nothing happened…maybe my psp is destroyed…?

    @thug_ashes: Erm…If you don’t mind me asking, are you certain your PSP has custom firmware installed. I mean, I’m not trying to be a dick or anything, but it really sounds like you have official firmware to me. Either that, or your PSP is ****in’ up.

    ..@Rificul: ya, my system info says its 5.m33-4 and my games are working pretty well etc… but i just cant really activate the things that im asking with naruto…:-( by the way thanx guys…

    I have a question. rom what I heard this can be upgraded from 4.02 CFW. On the slim do you need to download the 1.5 Kernel and if you do does it delete some files. Thanks

    @thug_ashes: I’m not really sure what to say, other than maybe try downgrading with a Pandora-class battery (if possible), and then re-upgrading. That usually works for me when crap starts screwing up for me.

    If you use 1.5 Kernel on your PSP slim, your Slim is screwed.

    I bought a new PSP having model:2004 and Version OFW 4.01. Its an October 2008 make.

    Will I be able to modify my PSP to amke it run the .iso files?
    Kindly suggest.

    @Burtn Soul, aaron, and Kris: Chances are if your PSP is recent (Think within the last few months), and it’s brand new (you didn’t buy it used), you probably can’t hack it (yet…).

    Also, if your psp is new and it came with OFW 4.XX , it’s highly unlikely you can mod it (yet).

    @thug_ashes: try HOME button in the XMD menu.
    Or the following for the recovery meny: Just hold down power off button, until it shuts off.
    The hold R and Turn power on.

    @navpreet: First off, could you please use better grammer because I can hardly read what you’re saying. Secondly (assuming I read what you typed correctly), no, you cannot install custom firmware of any kind on a psp-3000 (yet).

    From what I gathered, it will put the PSP into service mode, but as of currently it cannot be used to put a custom firmware on PSP 3000.
