Custom Firmware 550 MHU

Xenogears and Becus25 have been busy, releasing their own 5.50 Custom firmware for the masses called Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU. While I’m not sure of the changes in this new CFW vs 5.50 GEN-A. If you have some free time why not give it a go and report the changes to us? Note this is for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models only with TA-088v2 or less motherboards. Don’t try this on a TA-088v3+ or PSP-3000 or you’ll brick your PSP.

How to install this:

Copy to the folder; UPDATE” in your Memory Stick in ” X: /PSP/GAME/” Download Official Firmware 5.50 and copy it to the UPDATE folder (” X: /PSP/GAME/UPDATE”) and rename it to ” SCE.PBP”

      This is not for PSPs that would need chickhen for custom firmware in the first place.

        for some reason, the psp thinks it is official firmware!!! I AM NOT LIEING. the psp thinks it is 5.50 ofw.if the code is changed to 5.51, this may work on a 5.50 ofw psp
        i have tried replacing the 5.50 sce with 5.51 sce but no difference
        i have 3k 5.50

        it says something like this”your firmware is 5.50.there is no need to update.”

    Where’s the hack for PSP 3000 w/ 5.50 OFW? Great games would be released in the next few months. We also want to play with it just like the others whose PSPs are already hacked.

      They continue like this because what they have now isn’t perfected-it only seems it…

      Stick to HEN guys-it’s your fault you got those systems-from what I gather them things can’t be hacked, something about the boards being set to “read” only…no read and write…

      IF YOU WANT IT HACKED GO LEARN TO CODE YOUR SELF AND HACK YOUR OWN-lazy people DEMAND this to be hacked-heh I just found me a second hand 2000 (old type-ta-85) so I have no problems-all I can say is (no offence) sucks to have a 3000…

      Just 2 questions-can you switch from m33v6 to this straight or no…

      And is this any better than m33 or best wait a bit longer :)

    Aw… I saw this and thought “yay now I can FINALLY hack my 5.5 PSP3k” but no… sigh.. guess I just have to be patient like so many others…
    Ah well at least there are some people who can use this update, so yay for them =)

    K i have concluded that it does have is0/cs0 support and no PlayStation access and i have run plugins but with no PlayStation store access i don’t know if anyone needs this as long as gen has PlayStation support so whatever!

    Oh and also has a vsh menu atleast that don’t mess up when you install or disable when you install.

    every time i go to this site when a new topic comes up,
    that stupid statement keeps popping up.
    at least the MOHH exploit gives hope for a hen in 5.50 SPECIFFICALLY for 3000 and TA-88v3 and the others.
    i have a 3k with 5.50 OFW
    all of these CFWs that only work with ta-88v2 or lower and 1000 dont have to be made, JUST A PADORA BATTERY CAN GET U OUT OF OFW

    I’ve got to say, I held on to m33 for as long as I could, but when it lost PSstore support I gave in and got Gen. Given that this one does not have PSstore access I’m stickin with Gen, I just don’t see any improvements here.

    Vin and lil m.d is right in comment 25 and 26. People who has psp 1000 or 2000 with TA-088v2 or less motherboards should really use pandora battery. They should work harder on what they can’t hack instead of whats been hacked.

    I dont know, they have made Hen but all those people updated to 5.50 in the first place. unless it came with it, nevermind that. They make hacking easier for those without Pandora, so they are contributing. Plus, the exploit was just found, its not like they can make a hen the next day.

    before this update i could use my internet browser just fine, now after instilling the 5.50 i get an error message saying push O to restore settings. but that doesnt work. any help?

    What I don’t see here is a thanks for continuing to work on CFW, everyone is so hooked on Alex ( and I’m not knocking their work! ) but now more people are finally taking an interest in working on firmware. I think it’s about time that this level of programming is being used, it’s just sad that this much information is out and so few are willing to work on CFW or even help , instead I see a bunch of moochers judging something they know anything about..

    Great post guys and keep working on it and hopefully others will follow, I’ve been testing CFW for a long time now and even the gen team had to deal with the garbage when they released their version of CFW, Good luck.

    yepp good job guys i wish they would make more custom firmwares for the psp-3000 but they can’t becaue they have to flash them so it will proubably be custom firmware enablers which give you the features of regular custom firmware. so i hope in the end they do find a big exploit! Keep working guys!

    Hi, I have installed this and am real greatful… one thing..

    It crashes my psp when I try to remote connect over internet to my ps3! each time i press the x button it freezes then powers off the psp! remote connect to priv network is fine but i wanted to use my play tv or view ps3 files away from home! any ideas plz???

    honestly they should be focusing more on making cfw 5.51 +
    and chickHen for it.
    i made a mistake by updating my psp.. and now i have to wait.
    but c’mon, i’ve waited so long, and all that keeps getting updated is 5.50 and not 5.51

    While i hope they make a hack for psp 3k fw 5.50 or 5.51, i understand why they are not really putting effort into this though. all thats gonna happen is another sony update and a bunch of clueless n00bs updating and crying about it later. theres nothing that can be done because people will always update. if you updated, MY GOD just say its broken and bring it back to the store you bought it at get a full refund OR the option to trade in for another psp. the only other solution is a pandora for 3k’s but its unlikely.

      there is no such thing as noobs, last time i check noobs originated in video games.
      just because someone’s new at having a psp, doesn’t mean they’re “noobs”.
      and you can’t always get refund, cause there’s usually a date limit.
      and trading in for another psp, could be stupid, because what if the psp you traded was crap.
      therefore.. people complaining should be a problem for you, should be a problem for the creators.

        he’s right, refunds are only available fo 30 days. plus you have to have a good reason why you want it, even if time is still there.
