Custom Firmware 550 MHU
Xenogears and Becus25 have been busy, releasing their own 5.50 Custom firmware for the masses called Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU. While I’m not sure of the changes in this new CFW vs 5.50 GEN-A. If you have some free time why not give it a go and report the changes to us? Note this is for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models only with TA-088v2 or less motherboards. Don’t try this on a TA-088v3+ or PSP-3000 or you’ll brick your PSP.
How to install this:
Copy to the folder; UPDATE” in your Memory Stick in ” X: /PSP/GAME/” Download Official Firmware 5.50 and copy it to the UPDATE folder (” X: /PSP/GAME/UPDATE”) and rename it to ” SCE.PBP”

this is off topic, but to all you stupid asses on this thread or any other that brag about your older psp being “hackable” and that the 3000 is a piece, screw you you are just jealous. i have a 3000 and with chickhen and cfe and can do everything you can do. it just looks better on my psp, thats all.
and the days of trying over and over again to get chick hen to boot have been gone since the release of cfe 3.50. so dont even bring that up.

might there be a thingy where this will work with 5.51?

Hi everyone,
I need some serious help. First off, I have a PSP 3001. Now, stupid me, I updated, and now I am at version 5.51. From what I read, I can’t/shouldn’t load anything since ChickHEN and what not only work on 5.03. I don’t know how to find out what motherboad I have either.
Is there a way to downgrade my psp version? Is my psp hackable? I would like to be able to play ISO’s. That would be my main reason for doing this… Can I check my motherboard version?
I am sorry if I am a noob. Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks

dude…… u have officially screwed up….
no…you cannot downgrade……yet
your psp ‘was’ partially hackable….thru 5.03GEN and CFWE
Ur motherboard is the TA090v3/v2
in the future, make sure to run it by some experienced person, we are all ready to help……
July 28, 2009 at 6:33 pm
ver.5.51 is unable to load ChickHEN
how is it gonna read 5.03 GEN or CFWE?
July 28, 2009 at 8:09 pm
kenpachiroks meant, the PSP 3000’s could only use 5.03 GEN-A and CFWEnabler and required ofw 5.03 to do so. Now that he’s updated to 5.51, he’s kind of stuck for now since there are no working cfwe’s for 5.51

I know I have screwed up. I had gotten a PSP and then found out about this site. By then it was to late.
How did you find out that my motherboard is a TA090v3/v2??
July 29, 2009 at 9:24 am
it is TA-90v2, not v3
July 29, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Kefler, yeah, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing I was missing. I know I will have to wait until the new code comes out. Then my problems will be solved…. Thanks everyone for your help!

July 29, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Oh really? I didnt know that. I searched it and didn’t find out anything. But I’ll trust your guy’s word. Thanks!
July 31, 2009 at 1:41 am
actually I got it wrong. TA-008V3 is the unhackable PSP 2000’s. TA-0090V2 is the PSP 3000 Mobo.

I just upgraded using 5.50 MHU, and it seems to work perfectly fine. I’m not too literate about all the technical aspects, but I figured out that I had to switch to M33 Driver as opposed to Sony NP9660. Never really knew why I had to use the options I did, it just worked lol. But the M33 Driver seems to work just as well and I have great communication with my PS3 (remote play and playing purchased games from Playstation network) My only question is: Does anyone know what version CXMB themes will work with this version of CFW. Not a huge priority, but I’m kind of partial to having the Organ Concept Theme that I had for 4.01 M33.

Uh, I might have spoke too soon. When navigating to XMB:\Videos\Memory Stick, the PSP Freezes.

This might help http://forums.pspslimhacks.com/user-help/121-psp-hackable-allow-me-answer.html. From what I understand, its a lot easier figuring this out when you PSP is brand new, not updated, straight out the box.

Hey guys, quick question: I tried to update and it tells me that the battery needs to be at least 78% charged. I tried it at 100% charged with and without external power and I still get the message. I’m on a 2001 with fw 3.71 M33-2.
Thanks!
August 17, 2009 at 10:00 pm
try using your pandora battery just load up the update and put in your pbatt
August 17, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Thanks. I think I need a new one of those.
September 24, 2009 at 10:44 pm
the reason is because you need to have it charged above 78%. 100% is fine, but also leave the ac adapter plugged in, just in case, as any fault or battery coming out during updating could freeze/ brick your psp.
August 17, 2009 at 8:53 pm
I had custom firmware for my old psp slim but i accidently updated to offical firmware 5.51 is there a way i can downgrade it or do i have to wait for a new program to change it back to custom firmware.
August 17, 2009 at 9:59 pm
you can with a pandora battery and a magic memory stick
August 17, 2009 at 10:43 pm

hey, i am currently running a 5.03 mh33-6 with a 3.50 cfw enabler on psp 3001. is it recommended to upgrade it to 5.50 gen-a due to the fact i wanted to play soulcalibur : broken destiny and i’ve checked the specs it runs on 5.50 gen-b. so yeah any advices??
September 29, 2009 at 1:19 am
DONT UPDATE!!! 5.50gen-a and gen-b are only for the fully hackable psps (1000 and 2000 but not TAO88v3 mobo). So YOU WILL END UP LOSING CFWEnabler, which you do not want.
September 2, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Hey guys,
I too am a newbie when its comes to the psp. I have the purple( husband bought it for me) 3001 psp. It came with firmware 5.50. My serial number is AT4 and a bunch of numbers. Do you think its hackable? I was wondering what a pandora battery would do if its not hackable? I just want to play Iso games I have mastered putting movies on it. Thanks
November 6, 2009 at 11:13 am
Where you find the serial nmber!!!!!!! i’ve been looking 4 it and can’t found it
September 14, 2009 at 3:09 pm
I have a TA-088v3 motherboard but do i have to wait now until they release it for these motherboards or what?
September 24, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Please for the love of the psp gods, there are forums for this stuff! and yes the psp 3000 is hackable, its just a b**ch to do it. There are how to’s and guides too. Most of the stuff on here is off topic.
