PSP Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 Released

Dark_AleX has released PSP custom firmware 4.01 . This new custom firmware edition from DAX brings 4.01 kernel support and features from firmware 4.01, multi language recovery support and many minor bug fixes. Custom Firmware 4.01 does not have a XMB recovery menu or savestate support at this stage, this will follow in future updates possibly 4.01 -1 or 4.01 -2.

can be downloaded and updated on 3.80 M33 upwards using the network update feature or use the download links provided.

* Extract the archive. * Copy included UPDATE folder to X:/PSP/GAME

* Place the official firmware 4.01 update EBOOT, named as 401.PBP, in the newly created UPDATE folder
* Begin installation from the Game menu.

    Well the 4.01 m33-2 is good, the only problem is that it cant use cxmb other than that works perfect.

    2.the save states to be implemented is it for Psp games or Psx games

    Vagrant Story freezes while loading just past the PS logo. Can’t R1 on start up to select pops version.

    Why are people so fucking dull, DAX goes all the way to create a custom firmware for free, and even offers ways to downgrade your psp and psp slim, and dude, he’s doing it for the love not money, so i believe he doesn’t deserve to be called bollocks, or what so ever. u fucking retard. go downgrade, logically speaking u should know that Machines are built not to run unsigned codes that’s why u shud downgrade.

    to clarify:great release as usual,just put your apps in /game folder and activate the plugins again,there is a cxmb for 4.0 somewhere,psptube,mapthis,mapviewer working again,thank you (again) Dark_Alex

    WARNING!!!! If you hold the “R” Trigger and power your PSP on with this new firmware…once you change the settings and hit “EXIT”…YOUR PSP WILL BRICK!!! I have flashed and recovered my PSP 4 times now testing this…it BRICKS every time if you go into the RECOVERY menu and hit “EXIT” Highly recommend not upgrading to this version until this flaw is fixed!!

    I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I now have a 4.01 M33, but I have the same problem as in the previous V.3.90 M33-3 i used to have, Whenever I copy paste ISO’s(more than one) in the ISO Folder and then turn on my PSP, to the memory stick below the game icon, it only displays the first ISO I pasted and not the others, how come I can’t play more than one ISO saved in my PSP?????? HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEE :O Does it have problem with the battery, or the memory stick????????Anything, I just need a Reply

    Steve, get a pandora and Magic memory stick, just look for a friend with a custom firmware,and research with google, or search this site, they are well informed, and the chanes of bricking is low

    I had 3.90m33 went to a wifi hotspot and ran network update today it downloaded 4.01m33-2 and the OFW did the update, easy as pie and so far working good! MUCHO gracias DAX! usted es awsome!

    still haven’t tried the upgrade but what i know is that you can update it from a cfw and it is not limited to 3.80 only. just try. you won’t learn if you will not fail. just remember that.

    Guys again I reiterate, Use http://www.consolespot.net or http://www.psp-hacks.com
    or http://www.qj.net They have more info than this site. Plus the only reason why most emulators won’t work is that they don’t have an open-end kernal patch, meaning some of the developers didn’t think about future updates and stayed back in the primative age. If you still want to use old emulators and/or apps try out eloader. As for ps one games, they are going to work because psp’s in general have the ability to process the data that are ripped from the cd’s.

    ay peoples, i jus downloaded this a few days ago and works great, also got psptube and a emulator for the bga on it and everything works great. only question i have is, why can’t you get flash player on hacked psp’s? i already got psptube but you have to already know the page address so it’s pretty useless :(

    Ok slow down ppl. I have 3.90 m33-3 and im not in any hurry to upgrade. I jus hate the the IRshell doesn’t work on 3.90 but thats ok. I can always downgrade. As long as u have a magic memory stick and a pandora battery u can always downgrade no matter what the firmware is. My only concern is will the IRshell ever be upgraded to work on 3.90 m33 cfw.

    For all of those who have trouble installing custom firmware 4.01 M33 , I will tell you the solution. Fisrt of all, you MUST have a custom firmware aleready installed on your psp (eg. 3.90 M33) If you DONT have custom firmware and have official firmware, then 4.01 M33 WILL NOT work on your psp!!! The only way to make your official firmware to a custom firmware is by using a PANDORA BATTERY and a MAGIC MEMORY STICK!!!
    oh by the way, iR shell does work with 3.90 M33. You just need iR Shell v3.9 and the 3.9 patch for iR shell.

    Hey, I’m happy with it but I updated from 3.95 GEN 2 all my games still work but how do I get the files with 2 folders(one normal and one with a %)to work? It says that the game connot be started and the second folder is show as corrupt. I want to play Daedalus R13 and Starcraft but I dont know what to do with the two folders. Any game with one folder will work. I Have the 1.50 kernal active. THANKS=)
