PSP Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 Released

Dark_AleX has released PSP custom firmware . This new custom firmware edition from DAX brings 4.01 kernel support and features from firmware 4.01, multi language recovery support and many minor bug fixes. Custom Firmware does not have a XMB recovery menu or savestate support at this stage, this will follow in future updates possibly -1 or -2.

4.01 can be downloaded and updated on 3.80 upwards using the network update feature or use the download links provided.

* Extract the archive. * Copy included UPDATE folder to X:/PSP/GAME

* Place the official firmware 4.01 update EBOOT, named as 401.PBP, in the newly created UPDATE folder
* Begin installation from the Game menu.

    ok i downloaded the coston m33 4.01 firmwar and downloade the offishul i rename the ofishul firmware 401.PBP poot it in update folder along with the eboot file the m33 gave me and i hade it plugd in with 100% baterly life but wwen i go to install it on my psp it starts up the psp sighn after that the creen gos black and then i get an error saying The game could not be started (80020148) ples help.

    I have official firmware 3.93 and thought i could update it to custom firmware 4.01 i have downloaded it and downloaded the official update.
    It is there but when i click on it it goes tyo game could not be started and numbers 80020148.
    can someone tell me please why it isnt working or if i can get custom firmware?

    the pandora way is still the only way to uninstall official firmware??

    OK lisen up to the people that had the game could not be started error. this is basicly usles to people that dont have a 3.80m33 or beter you haft to have preves ver of m33 from 3.80 and up i forone think its bullshit can you just add this funchin so we can start fresh. i do thank you dark alex for your past firmwars or it the alex firmware team im speeking to so mabey wen the 4.01m33-2 coms out includ this rilly important part for people ho cant get pandora batery if its posible. ps onts agin i haft to wat a month or 2 to get a working m33

    I will stick to 3.90M33 on my white-ceramic PSP slim.

    4.01M33 = too much hype and nothing new, who cares about 4.xx kernel? who cares about crappy old 1.50 kernel stuff?

    I will update when they add real DIVX support, save-states, flash player 9.x and a new webbrowser for the slim because the current webbrowser is crap.

    Alright, I just finished updating my PSP via the 3.90 M33 Network Update. It works fine! If you can’t follow simple instructions then you deserve to brick your PSP.

    Second, this is ONLY FOR THOSE USING CUSTOM FIRMWARE! You cannot put custom firmware on your psp without using a Pandora Battery, etc,.

    PEOPLE WHO WANT CFW BUT HAVE OFFICIAL FIRMWARE DO THE SAME!!
    make your own pandora battery (or buy one for 13 pounds on amazon) and make a magic memory stick (youtube)

    ok i got the Sony firmware 4.00 and well just realized it was Sony’s when i installed it.
    well just got the cfw 4.01 and well it wont install ! what do i do?

    Post it so that ether people with the some thing can see it

    YOU NEED CUSTOM FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS 4.01 M33!!!
    no other way around it you NEED customfirmware

    and to get that, you need to use a Pandora’s battery, there is not other way

    am currently using m33 3.80 -5 if i upgrade to 4.01 will vagrant story for psx still work on it. because i made a mistake of going to 3.93 version and the poploader wasn’t that good.i had to revert, though it cost me little.

    FOR THIS UPDATE YOU MUST HAVE A CUSTOM FIRMWARE (3.80 m33) AND IF U DON’T YOU WILL NEED PANDORA BATTERY. THERE’S IS NO NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT DOESN’T RUN ON OFW. JUST UNDERSTAND THAT YOU NEED PANDORA AND MAGIC MEMORY CARD.EASY AND SIMPLE

    Sephiroth, I dont know if you were being specific as to which custom firmware you need, but I had the 3.95 GEN-2 on my psp and I was able to still update. So I think that you have to have ANY custom firmware

    Hey guys,I have a few Q’s for anyone and everyone that has the 4.01 m33 installed and use Emulators (NES/SNES/Sega/Genesis etc)

    I have PSP slim,CFW 3.90 m33-3 right now,

    1.I can install this 4.01 m33-1 update using (XMB-Settings-Network Update) ?

    2.If I install this update will IR-Shell,and all my emulators still work?

    3. Anyone have any idea when a good working N64 emulator is going to be out,I want Zelda OOT,Majora’s mask,and Conkers bad furday to work,And maybe Goldeneye 007,So anyone know when and if those games run good yet?.

    well,my pops plugin worked…havent tried my emulator yet…i guess the 4XX kernel is the problem to emulator….guess i know y darkie wanna fix the issue of kernel before giving out the savestate and all the yada yada
