Custom Firmware developer Miriam has released an update to his Custom Firmware 3.95 GEN. Releasing 3.95 GEN-2. So whats new? Well not much, this release fixes a slew of bugs that were discovered. In both PSP Slim’s and PSP fats. Notable fixes are bugs that were present when running SNES9XTYL and PSPTube on 3.95 GEN, these should now function without issues on 3.95 GEN-2
Custom Firmware 3.95 GEN-2 changelog:
- The bug that was semi-briquer the PSP if, in the RECOVERY, you had the option to choose between VSHmenu and Recovery “NONE”
- The compatibility of some homebrews with Slim has been improved.
- The formatting of Flash 1 through the recovery now works.
- The latest version of the SNES emulator, PSPTube and many other homebrews using ME now work to perfection.

My question would be does this update fixed the problem with the cxmb?

Is there any disadvantage to using this CFW over DarkAlex’s releases?

I get the feeling from our site that we are turning our noses up at 3.95 GEN, as indeed was the case with 3.93 cfw.
My personal view is that as a contributor to the site it is vital to have a good understanding of all cfws (3.60 M33 onwards) in order to offer accurate guidance to those with issues.
As with 3.93 cfw before it, I am impressed with 3.95 GEN-2. There have been some bugs but then that is frequently the way with new cfws.
For example:
3.71 M33-2 – the flash writing bug could cause irrecoverable bricks at the time of its release (now fixable, but not then)
3.80 M33 – the game clock speed bug wasn’t sorted until the last updates of this firmware
Mathieulh (team M33 member) has praised these firmwares and has stated that there is a major revamp of the recovery/vsh menu planned for 4.00 M33. This has in part been prompted by the in XMB recovery menu offered by 3.93 cfw and 3.95 GEN. This can only be good news.
Also, as a result of some innovative changes applied to DCv5 by PSPGEN (in their multi cementerio patch) again M33 have stated that some of these ideas will be incorporated into DCv6.
The scene is moving forward. I find this exciting but it must be viewed with an open mind and a willingness to try new cfws.

Can anybody answer if now it can use the cxmb?

I installed this cfw and I like it pretty well. I have to agree though, 4.00 is going to be worth waiting for.

I running this firmware also. Dim33 I comment that I’m waiting for 4.00 M33 because it will have native DivX support. Thats the main reason. We aren’t turning our backs on GEN Cfw. Neither helldash’s if he releases another firmware.

PSP-Fan, I don’t think DivX is a dead cert with 4.00. Apparently it may well be delayed.

Beejay
You need to buy a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory card. This should allow it to downgrade and then u will be able to upgrade to the CFW of your choice. The cheaptest these are found are on the website http://www.dealextreme.com.
I hope that helped

BMP maker doesn’t work, neither does Wave Flasher. Snes9x works, but a bit slower than earlier 3.9x firmware
June 14, 2008 at 11:31 am
The NES emulator doesn’t work anymore either.
June 14, 2008 at 11:36 am
Completely forgot: On the CWCHEAT menu (After pressing start for a few seconds), it goes WAY to fast when you try to navigate, and also when pressing the X key to activate or disable the cheats.
Earlier firmware doesn’t have this problem either.
