According to SCE America marketing manager John Koller the battery life of a PSP-3000 will be decreased by 20-30 minutes. Why? Well that prettier LCD screen is at the cost of battery life. Whats the beat that 20-30 minutes is on the Dimmest setting? I wonder if it would be 20-30 minutes on full bright Vs a PSP-2000 set on full bright.
On a good note, Sony confirmed the Extended Battery Kits would be in stock again and give 8-10 hours of game play.

As a pessimist, I bet the 20-30min difference is at full brightness, likely making the difference larger at minimum brightness.

That’s a bit disappointing to say the least.
But it’s good to hear the Extended Battery life kit is out again.

it sucks, one more reason not to buy it.
now they are planning on make profit selling batteries.
later they’ll release a psp whit a 30min just to make you buy one.
they are cunning as always.

Do you think one could put the new screen on to a 2000? Both units seem to have the same hardware onside.

Sony didnt say anything about how much ram the new psp has. Im assuming its the same as the slims :/ Imagine how deadly a psp with more ram would be in homebrew…

NO!
You all ignore something! Something that might be important!
Okay, so the big(gest) difference is, that the new type-3000 will support Composite-cable TOO to play games, not just videos/music/XMB (like the psp-2000 models)!
And that gives me a headache. I like tekken the most. But with FUSA it’s very annoying (it’s shit sloooooow)! And from now 3000s will be able to play it on screen with no glitches and full speed! :S
F*ck Sony! I don hav da maney! But I want it

And of course Sony, good job doing what you’ve managed to do since the release of the ps3, take something that could be great and cock it up in one way or another. You managed to overprice the ps3, lack any decent exclusive titles, and then kill backwards compatibility. Now, you take the already mediocre battery life on what is otherwise a WONDERFUL handheld, and instead of remedying it, you decide to give it the finishing blow. Congrats on the screw up.

woot, now i can upgrade from a fat to a slim when the new 3000’s come out and stores are going to try and clear out the slims
hahaha

Jay Pea, I doubt they will drop the current PSP-2000 price to clear them out
Just wait intill that stock is sold. I remember they did the same with the PSP-1000’s when the Slim was released.

3000’s lcd screen would be released to sell, then 2000’s owners should b fine. they just replace it. 3000 has not pandora support. bah, i could just wait to buy a 3000 but i preffer to buy a 2000 now, and enjoy.
