PSP-3000 / TA088v3 users: Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B coming..

Seeing many PSP-3000 users here on the site constantly asking, “What about us PSP-3000 users or TA088v3 PSP-2000 users?” well your times coming as Team GEN hasn’t forgotten about you guys. is coming. And will have the same features as Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D. So you’ll be able to play Firmware 5.55+ games with out the need of Game Decrypter.

Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B will feature:

  • PSP-2000 v3 and PSP-3000 support
  • PS1/PSOne game compatibility
  • Run protected UMDs/backups
  • Run 5.55+ required UMDs/backups
  • GEN VSH MENU
  • Recovery in VSH

Remember in order to use CFW 5.03 GEN-B your going to need a PSP with 5.03 or less firmware. And then . Luckily Skyline969 has an easy Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A installer, which installs 5.03 firmware, ChickHEN R2 and Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A. This will get you up to speed for the 5.03 GEN-B release come 31st October.

      Those mobos aren’t able to fully flash firmware and the exploit only works on 5.03. Therefore, you have to wait for a little longer before you poor guys who are above 5.03 can hack too. 5.50 may have some undiscovered exploits, so in time, CFW may come.

        because there isnt a good exploit for 5.50. at least one that would allow a cfw.
        if you want a hackable psp go buy one, gamestop and ebay are full of used ones. crying here will not get you anywhere.

        cfw for any ofw above 5.03 will not happen anytime soon, if at all. thats why it hasnt been done yet, because it cant be done yet.

        There is a exploit by freeplay which works on all psp`s till date with ofw 6.10, if he decides to release it hopefully we can get something like a temporary CFW enabler for the 6.10 guys too !

They probably won’t find an exploit at all cos Sony has learned their lesson from all the previous versions or if they do it will more than likely take a long time so eBay is your friend! If you want CFW so bad then sell the PSP you’ve got and buy a hackable one…you will probably even make a profit…it ain’t rocket science.

    I’m glad there’s still updates for our kind of PSPs. But the question is, how will this compare to CFWE?

      apples to oranges. some like m33 firmware, some like gen. gen is a newer thing and isnt as fully developed for as m33, although gen is mostly compatable with everything. m33 (dark alex) isnt updating anymore, gen seems to be new king.

      this will be better for me on my 3001 because i wont have to mess with the eboot, (dont get me wrong thank you youshiro for that program)

      i will however wait for a few days to switch to this as to make sure that the bugs arent major (5.50 gen-c). but will happily give uo my cfwe 3.60 for this if it is stable.

      no you cant upgrade to gen-b. you can however delete cwfe 3.60, restart psp, restart chickhen, and install this.
      no disrespect, but this same question has been asked what, 10 times in this post, if you noobs want help you can get it here, just please read the entire post cause that question has already been answered several times.
      P.S. if you have no idea of what you are doing or where to start, dont mess with your 3000 or v3 2000. you will screw it up beyond repair.

      they haven’t fixed psn and ps store. you can’t go to the ps store thru your PSP, but you can visit PS Store thru Media Go

    does it work on psp ta-088v3 with ofw 5.50? if not whats the use of this.they should have at least consider ofw 5.50 cause 6.10 has come out.so no use less than 5.50

      5.50 is hard to crack apparently.

      To get it working it’s only gonna be partial.

      Should have considered getting an older psp-they’d be cheaper anyway-do some research before asking dumb questions.

    I really don’t understand how so many commenters on a website Dedicated to psp hacker-y can be So…ignorant. Like, I know I don’t understand entirely how CFW can/cannot work, but it’s been clear for quite some time that the exploit from 5.03 OFW was taken care of by Sony for 5.50 OFW and up. As in, there is an exploit in 5.03, and That exploit is not in firmware above that- That’s all you need to know! UGH!

    *Sigh, so! Now I have to ask a hopefully not entirely noobish question- since the Peace Walker demo is playable on 5.51 firmware, and the decrypter stuff will enable 5.55+ games to be played, is there any chance of the demo working on PSP 3000′s now? Or, is it not possible, since it’s an eboot and not an iso?

    Milford50,You should have the following settings in LAUNCH ME-
    1)PSP MODEL-PSP 2000
    2)Mode-Full
    3)PSP Install-Yes
    4)PSP Unit drive-Whatever your psp drive name is (eg-F)
    5)Then try i think u have chosen mode-reboot please don’t select reboot.

      way lame…it made me switch to a 1000 so i could actually turn my psp off, and not have to go through the stupid process of launching chickhen (until it actually worked), then launching cfwe, then playing a game. i like the fact that i can turn my psp on, and play any game EVAR and have it work instantly. but i guess if you have the free time to kill, more power to ya

    a couple of months ago, i wanted to download crash bandicoot from the psn, but for that, i had to update from 5.03 to 5.50. i had waited for a long time for a 5.03 hack to come out, but with no succes. so i decided do update and download crash bandicoot. a week later the chickhen exploit came out. and now i’ve been waiting for like 5 months and still no 5.50 exploit. i mean come on!

        …if you want to load everything all over again. if you read the article, it’ll usually tell you new features, including something as groundbreaking as that. please read then ask questions, not vice-versa…

      Yes you can. Just download CFWE 3.50 to uninstall CFWE 3.60. Then you can install 5.03 GEN-A normally with ChickHen R2 of course. And with that you just wait for it’s release.

    Dont know if this has allready been answered but I have a v3 with chickhen and 5.00 m33 enabler,I have just downloaded the, easy Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A installer.Now with 5.00 m33 allready enabled is it safe to run, easy Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A installer or is there a procedure to delete 5.00 m33 before installing, easy Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A installer,dont want to brick my psp so please HELP cheers..

      Got rid off 5.00 m33 now installed easy Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A installer but every time I press 0 it just hangs and pops off,any ideas.
      ps i put the right one on for my 2000 v3

    Alright! Finally, a CFW for the 3000 with the capabilities of 5.50 GEN-D for fully hackable PSPs. Let’s just hope that this one doesn’t become like GEN-C or the 1st release of GEN-D where it had a lot of bugs. I’ll wait a little more though until I get feedbacks and comments from the early users. I think I’ll stick with my 5.03 MHU for the meantime. :)

    Really, there’s no reason to be super happy about this. Still no access to the psn. If there was one thing that every hacker out there should focus on, it should be getting around sony’s psn-CF block. I’m not saying that the GEN team’s work isn’t good. I applaude them, but it seems that there is way too much focus on small tweaks rather than the large ones still standing in their way.

      Your right its not a huge step forward as just like 5.50GEN D it just means dont have to patch games yourself. Personally i dont think PSN store access is a big issue either as if im really that desperate I will use my ps3 but even then theres not that much I ever want on it. The biggest step forward imo was the game patcher for 5.03 as really all I wanted was to play GT on my 3k not my gfs 1k. Would also be nice to be able to play the mgs peace walker demo on my 3k too but as its all in jap im not too concerned until the english retail is released.
