PSP-3000 ships with a TA-090, but its Pandora proof.
The good news with the bad. Good news is the PSP-3000 ships with a TA-090 motherboard, the bad news its using a newer CPU and is its not booting up when used with a Pandora battery. Thus its Pandora proof and service mode can’t be accessed to flash custom firmware. Which suggests that more hardware changes have been made to prevent users from accessing service mode.
The question is have Sony finally created an unhackable PSP? Or can someone break the code so to speak and the way forward for custom firmware on the new PSP-3000?

There has to be some type of way to flash CFW to PSP. Why cant DA or someone Make the PSP read An update (In this case, lets go with 5.00) like a PSP would read a OFW update?

The problem is that no one can get the validation code. if they could then you could just put that into a homebrew game and it would read as an official app (no need downgrading then).

guys guys guys guys the only good thing about a 3000 is the lcd and mic right?? swich the Mboards with a 2000 and 3000 and insall a app that works using the new hardware/ and naruto you cant make a eboot that lets it do that because its in the psp its self that only allows new prx’s to be upgraded and in m33 there are old prx’s being used no matter what version

won’t work as someone on youtube already tried but the new lcd screen isn’t compatible with the older CPU so the screen doesnt boot

all i can say is that it sux that sony is putting so much time into making psp unhackable and less in to makeing killer apps, games etc. i say we need people with the passion as DA and others like him working for sony at least the GAMER would be looked after and not a greedy pocket book….but i am sure some enginner will be able to break the “unhackable” psp they have in the past good luck guys

Hey, Im looking into getting a psp 3000 also. Im a pretty experienced hacker for the psp already. I noticed that the psp 3000 requires a 5volt battery, and the 1000 and 2000 takes a 3.6 volt. This may be why it doesnt turn on. Have you tried a pandora program on the 5volt battery that changes the battery to pandora then back to normal with no hard modding? Im very curious. If you have a slim or fat that already has CFW on it you can get the UPT installer on it. This takes normal batteries nad erases the serial # which makes it pandora. Then once your the program can put a random serial # on it so it returns to functioning as a normal battery for regular use. The only risk I can see in this is that since the 3000’s battery is 5volt and you put it into an older PSP it going to be 1.4 volts over its requirement. So im not sure what that might do to the older psp. If it worked you would have a 5 volt psp 3000 pandora battery. Which may turn it on and boot into the CFW install. The other thing I though of was using your psp 3000 power cord hooked up to the psp 3000 while you installed the 3.6v pandora battery. That may get it to turn on also.

no wont work because i think in the instruction book it says that a 3000 version will work on a lower versions battery just the case wont fit. plus wth are u looking at, i just checked my battery and its a 3.6 volt, 1200 mAh battery, so again where the hell did u get 5.

I don’t think it’s unhackable, but it’s just that Sony has piled a really high wall in front of us this time.
IMO it’ll eventually be hacked, but just not anytime soon.

lol good one

@custnam
If you clicked the link, you would see that both the batteries work in both systems, so the 2000 can obviously handle it.
Also mentioned, was that they already tried modifying a 3000 battery with a modded 2000. It didn’t work.
I have full faith in DA, and I hope this will be resolved quickly.

ive had a psp since, the very first day they came out *the “phat” one* and in this time
2.0 is unable to use go back to 1.5, a few weeks later they had a hack
2.3 was like this too, and there was always something that came out sooner or later that fixed that
when psp games need ___ firmware to make them work, it was the “end”
slims were “unhackable because they only could go so far back”
etc
each time someone says you cant, someone finds out how, there is a way to do it, and there is gonna be a answer sooner or later , someone will do it, and that will be that, the bonus’s arnt enough where im gonna care, but lets get firmware 5.0 M33 befor we want to bitch about psp-3k

Oh I sooo hope someone will be kind enough to bring us a hack

Ok, so I went out and got a 3000. And I did a side by side using Ratchet and Clank as a test. And I swear you cannot tell the difference between the 2000 and 3000 picture quality. I played about 15 minutes of Tomb Raider also and could not tell any difference in color, quality, ghosting or anything. Although I havent taken it outside yet to test the “antiglare”. Heres a link to a pic showing the side by side. In both pics the 3000 is on the bottom.

So in my opinion, unless you are set on using your psp to play on a TV with composite cables, then there really isnt any reason to get the 3000. Especially if it never gets hacked. I prefer my hacked 2000 for alot of reasons, aside from the obvious the 2000 loads games twice as fast since their booting from the memory stick and not a slow loading UMD. Mines going back tomorrow.

uh are u freakin blind… the colors in the 3000 version look deeper.
October 16, 2008 at 2:24 pm
PS: I bet you $100 bucks that in the prerelease photos that were on the net that showed a 2000 screen vs. a 3000 were as simple as having the 2000 at its lowest brightness and the 3000 at its highest. Look at my pics above and judge for yourself.

Nevermind, less than 3 minutes after I posted the comparison pics my post was totally deleted. Guess you cant post links.

“all i can say is that it sux that sony is putting so much time into making psp unhackable and less in to makeing killer apps, games etc.”
Ravenous – if they made a killer app/games, people with hacked psps still wouldn’t buy it… that’s why it pays for them to make it unhackable. That being said… as soon as someone finds a way to put CFW on the 3000, I’m getting one.

@ Bandito
lol, but at least we would feel a little bad doing it
October 17, 2008 at 3:12 am
Its going 2 take more than a fancy new lcd & mic to make me part with my cash for a new psp regardless of whether its hackable or not.Fuck keep up with the jones i am happy with my 2000.
October 17, 2008 at 7:18 am
Woohoo!!..

HAVE FAITH IN DA!!

If you ask me, I think it will make a strong point to Sony if we all wait untill after it’s been cracked to buy the 3K. It’s like this, fans of the TV show Firefly once a year have a day that they all go out and buy Firefly merch(DVD’s, t-shirts, whatever). This spike in sales is meant as a message to Fox, showing them that it’s still a valuable property. In the same way, we should all, as a scene, wait until the day that the PSP gets hacked to buy it, thus showing Sony that people are interested in a product that is capable of homebrew programs and actually lives up to it’s whole potential, rather than Sony’s watered-down OFW.

@Chainsm0kerTM
I support that message m8 good idea

guys i just buy my new psp.. i have the psp 3000 with ver 4.02 firmware.. i cant play iso games.. is there any way now to downgrade pls update me bout this issue.. tnx…
October 23, 2008 at 8:21 pm
vanex, READ THE THREAD BEFORE YOU POST. There is NO WAY to hack the PSP 3000! That includes CFW, downgrading, devhook, or ANY OTHER EXPLOITS! I’m not trying to be an ass, but there’s a thread about how the PSP can’t be hacked and you ask if it can’t be hacked. wow.
October 23, 2008 at 8:22 pm
BTW the reason the PSP 3k can’t be downgraded is that with each model, sony has changed the CPU, and the new CPUs don’t support 1.0 or 1.5, sorry, mate!
October 26, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I just had a crazy idea you say the pandora batterry won’t boot up i know why. You are using an old pandora batterry use the new 3000 5 volt betterry instead of the 2000 3.6 volt. Make a 5volt pandora and try that, if it doesn’t work try plugging in yuor psp to the charger while using your old pandora. Please try this, i have an extended futureshop warrenty i will return my psp if it cannot be hacked.
October 27, 2008 at 6:13 am
PSPnoob, check the other forum, the “PSP-3000 unhackable for now”, Custnam/Hack Idea, he’s already debunked that idea… Sorry!
November 29, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Datel just released a new battery that can downgrade the 3000 whoohoo.
January 1, 2009 at 11:35 am

Hmm. what if hackers made a UMD with an update which is 5.00 m33? like the new games that update ur ofw? Could this work??
June 16, 2009 at 5:49 pm
I was thinking why not switch the 2000 and 3000 cpu. I know it will not load the psp’s lcd but you can hook it up to a tv or whatever so you can see what you are doing and then flash the cfw to the psp’s rom. then switch the cpu’s back. I mean that sounds good in theory. though would suck for people who don’t know how to switch the cpu’s. well just an idea.
June 19, 2009 at 10:03 pm
well if it cant be downgraded then we should upgrade the hombrews
