Davee has posted that he will not be implementing CSO or ISO support on his up-in coming HEN / Homebrew enabler for ′s and Ta88v3 motherboards. Why? Mainly because davee has not been able to get M33′s permission to use their modules to would enable iso & cso support. Also because of davee’s stance on PSP piracy via ISO’s..

I assure you I have absolutely no intention of adding ISO/CSO loading at any stage of HEN. HEN will have next to no features of M33 except patching the firmware for homebrew. My initial idea was to load the M33 firmware and modify but I couldn’t get into contact with M33 for permissions to use their modules as of such I am using my own reverses.

To All:

To everyone begging their asses off for ISO support you can easily forget it. Even if I was to add it, about 50% of M33 is for ISO support and frankly I cannot be assed reversing that just to feed the pirates and the minority who actually use it for personal backups. I also believe you people are being incredibly ungrateful about there being no ISO support. For one, I have a homebrew enabled PSP 1000, I have no 2000 or a 3000. I should be technically studying for my exams but I still take the time to create this HEN for you folks. I think you need to take your time and realise what you’re saying.

We agree that ISO support will just feed the pirates out there. Homebrew support on a PSP-3000 will be great!. Although it is nice to convert that UMD we brought into a CSO/ISO for faster load times off the memory stick…That’s an added bonus but that leads to piracy and its killing the PSP. Well that and used games which are just as bad if not equal in the eyes of game developers.

    So if there’s no ISO support, Would it still be possible to run a backed up PS1 game using homebrew? Just asking cause I have my (legal) Tekken 3 disk and Spider-Man 2 ps1 games ready to be backed up… It`s killing me to wait for the HEN to be released to I can run some homebrew on my slim (TA-088v3).

    I’m sure there will be a way to play PSX games. As they run from eboot fiels and not loaded ISO’s. We will just have to wait and see.

    Ah. I`ve actually never had a modded PSP so in the past I`ve backed my games up as ISO`s. Perhaps we may be able to use homebrew like Popsloader. PS1 games are the only reason to why I want to run CFW on my PSP. I live for them :)

    This is good. No offence but alot of people use the excuse faster loading times. Alot of people have pirated games. I really doubt people care that much about speed, more about piracy, ( I’d be more concerned about battery power). If the dev can find a way to place isos and csos that are legally backed up then I would actually go and buy a psp 3k simply because of the conveince of being able to play several games on one little card rather than several clunky umd disks.

    even if dark-alex will give permission on davee, davee will modify… i think davee will not put the iso/cso loader in the m33 if he’s got permission so its useless…

    Lol he already said he doesn’t on a psp 2000 or a 3000.. And yet he is still helping us all instead of he having his own exams Please at least be a little grateful of what he is doing =.= So lets just accept this HEN for the time being and wait for the next Update. However i hope there will be ISO/CSO in the future. But Davee you can take your time to release it. As of now, you can do whatever that is need for you to do..

    Well so if we can’t play iso’s it won’t be so bad cause we still have emulators and homebrews and i am very happy that we will still be able to play emulators and homebrews,and moddify an m33 update would an interesting idea but an “illegal” one.I think this HEN will be good even if we won’t be able to play iso’s.

    look maybe he could get the modules for the iso and if hes concerned about piracy he should modify it so that when the psp dumps an image has some sort of code so that only the psp that dumped the image would be able to run the iso how about that!!!! =)

    Piracy isn’t killing the PSP, Sony’s retarded attitude and proprietary crap is killing the PSP and Sony. $50 games, etc. The iPhone eco system has proven that reasonably priced downloadable games, can make ridiculous amounts of money for developers. Sony should have taken a page out of the iPhone manual a year ago instead of continuing to flog a dead horse. A small useful device that can be easily tailored for an individual users uses will sell millions and start apps for it will sell billions.

    The only way I would think Sony could have legal ISO downloads if you were to buy them off the PSP store. I for one would be into that. (Papaton 2 will be the first) But there is a hitch. Some games around around 1.6gb the idea of downloading that can be a issue for people with data limits or non broadband. I’ve only got 5GB per month (New Zealand internet sucks!!)..A 1.6 Gig game would eat into that.

    tcrown: I think soon rather than later Sony will adopt an iphone /ipod way of doing thinks. UMD as a format is pretty much dead too.

    I think what davee did is CRAP! homebrew that cannot load ISO/CSO games?? alot of people want to play ISO/CSO games to save alot of money instead of buying UMDs for just one game..

    maybe davee is just saying he has exams to work on but the truth is he cannot do the code that can load ISO/CSO games..

    You know its really dissapointing to see that everyone only cared about pirating games from the majority of these comments.

    I mean he is keeping homebrew. Does conveince really matter that much that you can’t carry a couple games around? I mean you can just download some games from the PSN. Be happy with what you have.

    in the end, the main thing is, a lot of people want it because they dont have it… and finally i think in the end Dave is nothing more than a Elitist prick… obviously telling the pirates off while creating it is OMG gonna get you spam, any idiot knows that… he could have done it when he released it, but he is more so trying to just show why hes so much better, and justify himself

      I agree, but it doesn’t matter anyways because once the exploit is released someone will find a way to implement iso support into the existing exploit.

    It is a double standard any way if you look at it. All of it is piracy no matter how you look at it. So yes i can see him getting pissed off from people asking for iso/cso support. But why bitch just to bitch either do it or don’t. don’t get me wrong i’m no goodie goodie. All my game systems are hacked. Yes i know this guy is working on hen but he is not the only one who has an idea on how to get around the new mother board lock out. I hate it when people think they are the only one who can save the day. I just got a psp slim a few weeks ago, waited 3 weeks to find out it is the new revised board and won’t work with pandora. But i won’t kiss this guys ass for a fix. I’ll swap my psp with my niece or buy a older one from e-bay. So there are options so if this guy wants to make it hard to hack his new exploite who gives a shit. there will always be somebody better out there than you. So if you are going to release your have ass software than do it or shut the fuck up with your bitching. Now i’m not a programmer either so you can gloat all you want, But want kiss this guy’s ass when there are plenty of other sytems better than sony’s after thought psp.

    @Rick: So your saying piracy is the only thing that makes any system worthwhile? I mean the ps3 and psp3000 along with Ta88v3are the only ones non-hackable atm. Dude get a job, if your in some other third world country then I can understand but then the system shouldn’t have been bought in the first place if you were looking at affordability issues.

    @vic: the majority of the people on this site are complaining on comments that he hasn’t included iso/cso. Thats nothing compared to the amount of hate he is recieving on the boards and the amount of spam. Too many people are begging him but he is having a stance on piracy.

    @everyone: Look at the amount of work Sony has put in this year. So many announcements of software. Do you all really want all that effort to go to waste and return to what happened to the majority of last year? That huge game drought because devs were complaining because of piracy on the system and how none of the devs could make enough money?

    When decent security is finally added ,the devs provide support. This is attracting more devs. I know there were probably other significant reasons why no software comes to the psp but seriously, I have to agree with this person. If he is filling to include homebrew with iso/cso loaders I completely support him, I actually wished he had done that earlier, I wish dax had done that earlier too. This way everyone would have been able to enjoy atleast several more games. If you want games on your memory stick then download them off the PLAY STATION STORE and wait.

    People say piracy doesent affect sales that much. I am not in the mood to return to what happened during the majority of last year where no games were ever released. Its piracy.

    Now if Davee could integrate a way to load your legally backed up isos/csos without someone spreading it out to the internet then that is okay too.

    @PSPfan: Everyone used to tell me they supported homebrew simply because of the homebrew, not the free games. But after looking at the amount of spam people have said from piracy and NOT EVEN mentioning that they would want to back up their games legally I have seen the truth of cfw users and I’m sure you’d agree. Now I know for a fact that what vic says is right, the majority of piraters make up cfw users and the honest legal users are too little.
