PSP-3000 Firmware Changes

Share

Famitsu.com have discovered some minor changes in the new models firmware. Although nothing to major its interesting to note.

The PSP-3000 has a setting for “Color Space” under the system settings section of the XMB. This can be switched between Wide and Normal. Wide exploits the full color depth of the revised hardware, while Normal returns you back to PSP-2000 level color.

The 3000 firmware has an option for Automatic USB Connection. When this is switched on, the PSP switches to USB mode automatically when a USB device is connected.

Finally, the 3000 firmware offers a noise reduction feature for video out. This is used to cut the noise when outputting the PSP’s video signal to a television.

Interesting…Why you still want to emulate the old dull (in comparison) PSP-2000 colors of the screen beats me?

They’re exaggerating about the color vibrancy. What the psp-3000 probably has is a software color enhancement; basically its the same as turning the color up on your home tv. Tell me one thing. Look up at the comparison. Does your psp-2000 really look that faded? Honestly, they’re not trying to appeal to those who already have PSPs, but rather to people who haven’t held one before, because anyone who has a psp can point out immediately that the psp-2000 is NOWHERE NEAR that bad.

can we still put custom firmware on it?

Well from what I’ve heard and researched (so far) custom firmware is not possible on the PSP-3000 (or at least not yet muahahaha).
So I’m some genius somewhere will break down the code and find us a way to custom firmware this booger.
