PSN blocked on Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B can’t access the Playstation network and has been blocked. I was just in it? And without logging in it shows up fine, but when you sign in you now require firmware 6.10 to download anything. Sony are getting smarter it seems, another counter Custom Firmware Measure for us all. The way I see it, they are shooting themselves in the foot. They will loose sales because of this. Hell I brought a few PSX games using via 5.50 GEN-A as I’m sure many brought FFVII.

    Sony are stupid, they will wonder why PSN PSP sales will drop like 20%….

      actually, they did that because their sales are really low, umds, ps3 games etc, they want to stop this RIGHT NOW, so they made things without thinking or maybe they know that their sales r goin to drop but they dont care. sony doesnt get all his money from video games, my TV is sony and also is my dvd.
      sony has a lot of money, so he wants to kick out all the people that is stealing games (iso, cso) etc,they dont care how much money they loose .

        you are right. there are sony tvs,laptops,dvd players. even sony movies.
        a lot of people think that sony only sell ps2,ps3,and psps. they got a lot of money and they are gonna do anything to stop CFW.

    Blocking CFW users from accessing the PSN store is like losing your best customer. WE CFW users are the ones who use PSP’s the most, I hope you enjoy your next sales drop in the coming days..

      Maybe you’re right but some people that are filthy rich buy many stuff from sony. I have a friend who doesn’t know how to use PSN because of parental controls and he does not have the manual and that his parents doesn’t want to put cfw on his psp 3000 but if he discovers it he will buy games everyday.(my friend likes wasting money because he is rich)

    A Letter to Sony,

    Sony, your sales will drop significantly because of this. You will regret this. How about Nintendo? They’re allowing Homebrew and have way higher sales (10x more Wii’s than PS3′s). Correct me if i’m wrong.

        actually, you are kinda wrong, i the sense that nintendo isnt allowing homebrew, they just released an update last month that deletes any and all things remotely related to homebrew, even hacked save files. downside is, it started bricking peoples wii’s, even if they never used homebrew xD

    yea they charge to much for games that are outdated like 10 dollar tetris but yea i was gonna buy pixel junk monsters but now i wont i guess hahaha sony must not like its customers im shur we all buy games we like mabey instead of blaming us for bad sales they should make games that arnt repedative and boring and there sailes will go up instead.

      buy battefeild 2142 if you want online shooter i found the psp online games to be sluggish but i could be wrong gta was fun multi play but meh still no battlefeild

      Thats way too bad. It would be great if we could somehow set up an alternative server for online games on CFW.

        Yes but that’s impossible :( I mean it’s easy to create the server, but it’s hard to set the game to connect it. I think you should really mod it and change something to set it to connect on another server, not on PSN.

    You can download your games and stuff with this, thats what I’m doing and I use 5.00 m33-6, log into your account, choose your downloads, it downloads and copies to your psp.

    I think all hardcore gamers like to modify their own firmware and try things like homebrews, hacks, code interpreter, etc.
    is a mistake that sony is doing as many of the improvements they made in their firmware was because of things they stole from the CFW
    I mean come on UMD with firmware protection, understand you want to combat piracy, but not allowed to use the PSN is stupid.

    That’s it, i had it!!!! Now SONY has really pissed me off!!!!!!! First it was SONY’s new anti firmware protection on the most recent psp games, and now they block us from reaching psn??? FUCK YOU SONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    USE PSP MEDIA GO.

    As mentioned countless times before, it doesn’t matter if psn blocks CFW, YOU CAN USE PSP MEDIA GO to access the ps network from your computer regardless of the firmware you use.

    lol ipod touches on jailbreak 2.2.1 STILL have FULL ACCESS to the app store. Why can’t Sony do the same?

      It’s likely because jailbroken iDevices aren’t as much of a threat to Apple as opposed to CFW PSPs are to Sony. Sure, you can get cracked apps and third party applications, but you have to consider the fact that there’s more iPhone/Pod Touch users who actually buy their apps versus those who get pirated copies. CFW PSPs can play full versions of .iso files, and depending on how you obtained that iso, which in most cases will be from pirating the original, it can hurt both Sony and the developers in the marketing business (which could lead to closing down companies due to low sales).

        yea… i guess, i just hate the video game companies for making $60 games, on top of $200+ systems, and in the case of xbox a $10/m LiVE fee… when most games on the xbox can be run on a computer for free online (any fps, like Left 4 Dead even could be free on the computer minus the cost of buying the game. i STILL hate microsoft for making crash course , the new DLC for l4d, cost 560 MP.. that was stupid)

        @Kagemaru: I can get why games are worth $60+ these days, it’s because there’s more labor and more advanced technologies put into the developing the games as opposed to last generations. For the case of paying for xbox live versus PSN, it’s because (in my honest opinion) you get more features and content on XBL (Netflix, soon to be Twitter integration, Windows Live Messenger support, and much more) as opposed to PSN. I don’t know, it was Microsoft and the developer’s choice for you to pay for this stuff. There are people who are willing to pay, there are others who aren’t. Whatever floats the poorly manufactured boat.

    I’m guessing that most phat/slim/brite psp owners have their PSPs using CFW…so the only customers on the PSN will be the PSP Go users. By the looks of PSP Go sales…well, we all know where this will lead

      I have a psp birte with cfw, and a fat. Tons of people I know have hacked ones and are in outrage at the moment. All have now lost faith. Hurray for Sony.
      Think there will be a PSP2?

      I know! in the year 3010, when Microsoft and Apple combine forces and make “Microapple” and when Sony,Nintendo, and Microsoft all combine to make “MicroSonDo.” This will also be the year when homebrew is an accepted choice and illegal copies are now appreciated into the market!

    Am I the only one who can see why this won’t hurt Sony? How many people with CFW actually pay for PSN downloads? Not many, and the ones who do, then post them on the internet for thousands of people to get it for free. 1 download legit = thousands in illegal eboot downloads. In the grand scheme of this, they aren’t losing that much money. If you really want a PSN game that badly, just update to OFW, download the game, go back to CFW and patch the game you downloaded. The only people this would hurt is the people with the unhackable PSPs, that have to stay on 5.03 firmware… and those aren’t the ones who use the PSN anyhow, as the CFWs lower than 5.50 have already been blocked from the PSN. So the people who usually give you the PSN games for free will still be doing so, because they have pandora batteries and can just swap from OFW to CFW anytime they feel like it.

      I’m one of those people who frequently buys from the PSN store. Also, it’s not cool to assume ALL CFW users who do have access to PSN make illegal copies because I’m not one of those people. I actually appreciate the developpers and BUY and DON’T make distributable copies of my games and/or content (yes, I bought Soul Caliber, but was able to use the patch for it). It was really not cool for Sony to not once, but twice block PSN from CFW users.

      Sidenote: I will not go through all that hassle to just get one freaking game of the PSN

      Actually, you’re kinda wrong. the majority of CFW users DONT generally pirate games from PSN, especially if they’re bitching about it now, because why would they care, if they’re already pirating the games, who gives a damn about PSN? The thing about this is, it actually would make those CFW users who really want the game HAVE to pirate it (though still by choice). The thing about going from OFW to CFW and vise-virsa is really actually kinda annoying, as not every CFW user has a pandora battery, from my experience MOST dont, including me, and dont exactly have a simple way of getting one thats not from some weird website thats really kinda shady. so in actuality your logic is very flawed, cause this doesnt help sony in any way aside from the 10% of psp user’s who even use CFW, let alone pirate (yes, very few people use CFW, most dont even know it exists.)

    No problem. It’s just one step Sony takes. Now its the hackers turn. How this goes is, Sony takes a turn then the hackers take a step to undo what Sony does. Then Sony follows up with another block… And so on and so on… I can wait for a fix. There will always be a fix to their block… Always. :)

      whats funny, is there is already a way around the block, it just requires you to have a… oh wait, you have a computer dont you… well, then get a usb cord for your PSP and find mediaGO, and i think the USB version faker

    are you sure MediaGo is a workaround?? Because I noticed before that I could download PSN items with my older firmware. However, I just tried to download a theme for a quick test, it Media Go gave me this error message while my PSP was in USB Mode – “A software update for the PSP system is required. For update methods, refer to the instructions for the PSP system.” have anyone else have encountered this?? I can’t believe this is happening…

    See now this is just stupid.
    I for one only have custom firmware so I have an XMB that I actually like the look of.
    I have a large collection of UMD games and also purchase quite a lot of the PSN.

    But if Sony want to be idiots and block access then I’ll just download illegally as I have the option to do so.

    Someone at Sony really should sit down and look at why a lot of people use custom firmware for the PSP as it’s not just to play illegally downloaded games.

    i dont think anyone realy cares about psn and getting games from the site. it’s the online gameplay that we cant do anymore that realy sucks. right?
