PS Vita release date confirmed 2012 for USA and Europe

Share

In a recent statement to Eurogamer Sony has cleared up any rumors of a Oct 28th release in the UK. Stating that the will launch in Europe and the US early next year. But if you did want one this year then you’ll have to import one from Japan and Hong Kong. As the Vita goes on sale in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan by the end of this year.

Apparently Hirai did not characterize the timing as a delay. He said Sony wants to be prepared with solid game software offerings timed with the hardware launches.

And there appears to be some doubt over whether Vita will launch this Christmas even in Japan.

Hirai was clear on one thing: Sony will not cut the price of the Vita – despite Nintendo’s decision to slash the cost of the Nintendo 3DS.

“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable,” Hirai said. “There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”

Sony is yet to announce a UK price for Vita.

Oh well, looks like I will have to order mine from Japan. Hopefully PSV firmware 1.0 it will be like PSP Firmware 1.0 was! That would be cool.

In my town there is a shop that loves to import from this part of the world and provide some insurance if sth happen with the console so I migth get it form there.Nevertheless first of all I’ll try to find out if there are games in English that I could play(hope that the Japanese  releases will have English or that the EU/US versions will be uploaded in PSN).About the FW-I’m sure and will be partially pleased if a solid and complete firmware is prepared unlike 1.0 because the hardware is nothing without the soft U know.I’ll be pleased but its very doubtful  if psp signing works on PSV but will be stimulating for the PSV I guess to have free psp games and homebrews

The PS Vita firmware should be like the PSP’s you can go to the settings and then change it over to English. But we wont know 100% till its released or the settings menu is detailed.

PSVita is region free or at least this was the information I read somewhere which means that games from every part of the world will work

Of course there is a way to change the language, timezone and etc to UK’s so I can not find any reason why U can not do it

i know all that, but im just confused to why they dont release PSV in all countries at once
ive always thought it was because….ive always known about region locking…but i was confusing about something that is in relation to region locking…lol if you understand what i mean lol
        never mind anyways haha

First of all there is a mountain of paperwork that can make hugeeee delay. If paperwork for Japan is ready (which make sense as Sony is Japanese ) the situation with Eu and US is not the same(also in EU and US the sertificates are harder to get). And there was said that in fact the decision is made because of the 3ds lack of games which poor sells are really disturbing. Not to make same mistake the PSV out is delayed so that more games will be completed for the EU/uS release(I guess this means that more Japanese games will be completed than the EU/US releases but this is nothing to be surprised of).Nevertheless  the last statement can of course not be truth but its the official statement of Sony.I hope more info on the subject on TGS or in Cologne

btw be sure that Sony don’t postpone the release for nothing as 1/3 of the year’s profit is made in the Holiday season and this is truth especially in US and EU so there is big reason beneath -maybe there isn’t enough premade units.
