PS Vita Magic Reader 1.1 Released by PsDev

Hello All!

PS Dev just released a useful little script, this script is great for those of you investigating the PS Vita PUP files (PlayStation Update Package). This script will give you some basic information about the package header, as well as extract the license file. Magic Reader might be useful for those of you who are too lazy to understand the information provided from PSVITADEV WIKI.

Once downloaded:
Extract, and to run, just type ./magic.sh PSP2UPDAT.PUP (assuming the PUP file you want to analyze is called PSP2UPDAT.PUP) .  The files will run on CYGWIN as-well, if you don’t have Linux.

If by any chance you are having difficulties, follow the instruction on PsDev’s thread here

     This is a waste of time, the hacking team should just scrap this project
    and do something with their lives, unlike video games WE DON’T GET 1UPS
    once our lives are done its over. Therefore I suggest they should stop
    this hacking nonsense, they will learn sooner or later that making a cfw
    for the vita is impossible and even if it were possible it might end up
    like how the ps3 or xbox360 is?( Ps3 and Xbox 360 are hacked but if
    caught with a modded console, you are banned from playing online) I
    don’t know about you guys but I do not want to have to buy another vita
    in order to play online. And of course lets say that games like COD or
    Battlefield make it to the
    vita and the vita itself has been hacked with a cfw. Now think about it
    if the vita is hacked, eventually someone will somehow make some kind
    of
    application like cwcheat that will enable cheats to be use in game play
    and if such application would be use for a game like COD,
    WOULDN’T THIS BE LIKE COD4 ALL OVER AGAIN?!?!?! This just doesn’t apply
    to games like COD as well, it applies to any game that has a online
    multiplier function such as UMVC3( Imagine you’re fighting a person
    online with a hacked vita that has a cheat that allows their character
    to
    not lose health). Plus what happens if the later games that are going
    to be releases needs the vita to be at a certain update in order to
    play? Wouldn’t we have to wait again for some kind of a patch from the
    hackers just to play a pirated game? And what if Sony patches the
    exploit again? Sorry but I rather go and BUY the game and support the
    developers than wait months or maybe years just to play a game that came
    out months/years ago. Think about it, this isn’t worth the wait, I bet
    that if they ever do come out with a cfw wouldn’t it be on a older
    firmware and a down grader probably wouldn’t come out for a long long
    time. Trust me on this when I say that they should stop this hacking
    nonsense and move on with their lives doing more important things that
    can help them.

       Shit man, you got some issues, what they want to do with their lives is their business, and most of them do know what happens if you make a cfw.  And plus these guys are doing it for the homebrewedness, not piracy.

       Dude just to put it in perspective for you. Don’t know if you have a job or your parents are the ones giving you the money. But the way I see piracy, is that there should be one for offline playing to test some of the expensive games that don’t have the demo. You see my monthly paycheck is 300 Euros and just imagine how hard it is for me to pay rent and bills and food and then what is left to keep for the games. 50 euros for me is great deal of money lost if the game sucks. Now to beat off all the naysayers. I do have psp with 20 umd of the games that i like. I have now PS VITA (from February still paying for it) with escape plan as my only game on it because there is no games still that I like as much to give  40 – 50 euros. In my country I live a standard life and original gaming is just to expensive for normal people. Now if you are from US or EU than monthly paycheck is like 2000euros than you can gladly trow away 50 bucks or euros on the shit game. Dude let people crack and hack what ever they want. If by now you don’t realize how cracking ups their console sales and that the manufacturers are the ones that let people do the hacking on purpose so they can have free marketing than you are just living a blind life.

     Dude this is not about games. A PS VITA has a god dam quad core processor you know very well what things you can do on that monster. Forget about playing some games, I can play 1080p blu ray files in a breeze, launch some port for a heavy pc game for instance or even emulates2 games (it is possible and I believe it). There is a lot to do on such a console. Not all of us want to pirate all of the games I will always buy what I like especially jrpg’s.

    even if it they do this for homebrews, cracking a a system is still not legal. and besides, they are not just doing it for homebrews, its just that they can only run homebrews FOR NOW.

    I buy the games because I support the developers and also I collect them. But I am not against CFW because I am not affected in any way (except for cheats). But if I am going to choose, I will be one of those who are anti piracy.

    piracy = stealing. the developers invested money for that game to earn money, so stealing the games they developed is just not right. If you are going to complain like “THE GAMES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE”, “I CANT AFFORD TO BUY GAMES”. How come you are able to buy a system worth 200+ bucks and you cant buy a game worth 30 to 50 bucks? And besides, you can sell the game if you already beat it and buy a new game from the money you earn.

    And another thing, dont buy things that you think you cant sustain. Just think about it, you bought the system but  you cant afford to buy the games? wake up man! dont buy the system if you cant sustain to buy the games.

    excuses and complaints regarding the price of the games are just POINTLESS. the developers made the game FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN AFFORD IT, not for those who want it for free.

       I see you took my post a bit wrong. I said that I support hacking not to play all games for free man. Nor do I say that I don’t have the money to sustain buying a console 200+. I was just saying I like to play the game before I buy it that is all. We do not all live in a country where you have malls in witch you can try any game you like and than decide to buy it or not. If they would make a demo for every game there is for me piracy would be =stealing. Like I said I have psp and bunch of original umd’s, ps vita and I have already bought escape plan and pinball for vita because I liked demo not because its cheap. I’m still waiting some of the good titles like god of war or nba or GT. Like I said read every sentence to the point and you will see that even I said that I will buy an original if it’s good but wont spend 50 bucks on a “shit game”. Saying shit game because it doesn’t have to be shit for the others just for me. So you wake up man and try to understand that some people don’t wanna buy a “cat in the bag”.

      uh… hacking is not illegal, at least in the us, there was a supreme court rulling that was in favor of hacking. it is what you do while hacking can be illegal. this is a big mstake that a lot of people make. other than that i agree with you.

F**K sony n PSN !!! i have 4 diff accounts in 4 diff regions , UAE & Jap & England & USA , if i download 1 game with my Eng region cant use my games in another Acc !! and cant use PSN card with Eng Region in my UAE acc …!!! its mean i have to change my home From UAE to USA or JAPAN :) ))) Well F**K PSN !!
