PS Vita Hello World Confirmed. HBL in the works for PS Vita!

Share

himself has just recently tested the save game exploit / Hello world PS Vita. He has confirmed the exploit tech4 ran day 1 of the PS Vita release here, is 100% legit.

Wololo has posted some video proof too (Below) for any skeptics. However we have to remember that is is an exploit on the PSP emulator side of the PS Vita. Its not a PS Vita exploit as such. No access to usr mode on the PS  Vita side of things. But it will let us run user mode homebrew on a PS Vita. And in itself is a great feat we should all be happy about.

All the PSP Emulators, homebrew apps and games that work on will work on the PS Vita via this PSP emulator . Which is being worked on now for the PS Vita. Yes that’s right, is coming to the PS Vita. Wololo has mentioned this:

Spent a good amount of time today confirming some of my hopes that it will be possible to run HBL, at least to some extent, with that exploit. It doesn’t mean I have ported HBL to the Vita yet, but I have strong hopes this will be possible. A handful of hackers are working on bringing HBL to the Vita (I won’t mention their names here as I don’t know if they want to be contacted on the subject), and it should be “relatively” easy to get something to work fairly soon. (It should be noted though that the Vita is quite sensitive and crashed on me several times when it went into “sleep” mode from the exploit screen… from there – am I just paranoid? – it seems it is impossible to reboot the machine for almost 10 minutes, which made me think I had bricked my vita… could it be a anti-hacking security? If the console detects several crashes, it takes longer to boot, in order to prevent brusteforce types of attacks?)

I won’t discuss any release yet, it doesn’t depend on me only (this is, after all, Teck4′s exploit), but if I have my opinion to give on the subject, I would suggest to wait until the Vita is released in Europe and in the US. This gives us some time to polish HBL on this device, and hopefully the vulnerabilities we use to run HBL won’t have been patched by then.

This is of course just a challenge with little to no practical interest… once we publicly reveal the exploit (in particular, the game used in it), it will be extremely easy for Sony to patch it (or remove the game from the Playstation Store), so probably only a few people will be able to benefit from it… but only time will tell, there is still hope, after all, that Sony doesn’t care about a tool that allows us to run user mode psp homebrews in a sandboxed emulator.

if this leads to free games on vita i am not going to get one, i kno right now its only home brew but it’ll lead to piracy eventually……..it all ways does, and piracy is what killed the psp

Sony abandoned PSP and that’s why it failed. Not piracy!

Listen to this guy, Sony just gave up on it and focused more on the PS3, this can be supported due to the amount of software it has been getting for the past years.

      What sneezerdoc said was correct
look at the xbox 360, IOS etc
they’ve been hacked by piracy etc
and they’re still going strong especially the iOS
apple actually studied the hacks and officially created functions inspired by hacks

Well, the reason why XBOX 360 is going strong is because they have this
community that allows developers to make their own indie games. Not just
that, they are able to create their own account and earn from it depending on people downloading it online. That is why its going strong… And Xbox knows if they were to make and sell an Xbox portable, they would have an amount of loss income.. As for PSP and PS3 they hardly offer this to developers that makes indie games…

thats exactly what sony should do, they should learn from the hacks that people have done over the years to the psps’ and apply them to their future vita firmware updates. they should know by know that it doesn’t matter how much security they put into their products, if there is someone out there with a computer n some motivation, anything can be jailbroken/hacked

      i agree ,
im kinda happy that sony put a emulator in the psvita, but does that mean i can play my psp homebrew games on it ?
      ………….

    • FireCracker

I can agree that piracy hurts sonys sales in a way, but at the same time it helps them bc all of my friends bought a psp to play all of the homebrews, therefore sony made some money for selling the handheld. on the other hand, piracy can’t be stopped. if you go to south america, they have stores likes gamestop, but all they do is mod systems and sell pirate games for dirt cheap, so it can’t be stopped even if we wanted to.

If you know NOTHING say NOTHING

      PSP was an awesome system,

The games that came out for it ROCKED

      It had a LOOOOOONG life

Company’s make choices to LEGACY hardware so learn to live with it.

      Homebrew makes hardware BETTER period.

but ether way ti still nice :) ….

I agree with you, ill prob wait till price drops n they release the bug free slim version of the vita in a diff colors. by then it should already be jailbroken with tons of homebrews to play !!! XP

kinect seriously boy how did u stumble up on this website. Sites like these should have a strict no idiot fanboys allowed rule.

      • Anonymous Tool

Rules like that would remove 95% of the current userbase, though.

Vita deserves to be hacked if for nothing else the fact that on top of a reasonably expensive console price  and games, Sony takes it one step further by Raping owners by charging absolutely ridiculous prices for proprietary memory cards. F*** Sony
