Prometheus – Run more 6.20 Games on CFW 5.00 M33 & 5.50 GEN

Now here’s something to try if your not having any luck getting your games running on 5.50 GEN-D3 or 5.00 has released new tool called which will run newer games that require 6.20 firmware and haven’t worked used previous methods . Its a bit of a process, but if your really desperate to get that backed up iso to work its worth a shot.

How to work it:

1. back up your UMD game disk to ISO format. (How to here)

2. Use WQSG_UMD (UMDGEN / WinRAR to extract the original PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\EBOOT.BIN into a temp folder, decrypted, then rename to EBOOT.OLD

3. Extract the prometheus.prx & EBOOT.BIN into above temp dir.

4. Drag the three files and drop into WQSD_UMD.

5. Done, copy the modified ISO to your MS

    Cool, wasn’t there a Mac psx iso to eboot converter called Promethetus? Sweet app.

    Will it sort Peace Walker so that it works properly on 5.50 GEN-D3? I’ve had multiple freezes with that and I don’t really want to go go back to m33.

    I tried this on my psp 3000 with cfw 5.03 MHU and I got the iso from my naruto shippuden ultimate ninja heroes 3 (USA) to work. It was a newly released game with 6.20, I’m surprised it was decrypted so soon. Good Work!

    Not working on “Cars Race O Rama EUR Version” …I have CFW Enabler 3.50 PSP 2000. Can anyone help me? And please can you put a detailed instructions in decrypting an ISO file? Thanks a lot guys!

      you done something wrong. and maybe you should upgrade your psp’s firmware to 5.03 gen c.

    sweet, now if you guys could finally pick up on the (currently) partial jap>eng translation patches for kingdom hearts birth before sleep that have been floating around…….i havent stopped playing kh since i got the patch goin, n im sure most other people would love to rock an english-ish kh:bbs…

    dude i have a umd rip of my cars race o rama and it worked fine on my psp300X with gen a u must have a dodgy one haha
    also sorry 2 sound like a total fool but persona…if i patch it with this will it finally work? i get the whole black screen bullS*&!,would this fix the dead or alive paradise photo thing and for some reason chili con carnage wont load unless i change the eboot header thing in advanced options in the vsh menu…i dunno im to tired to care :) oh and whut up juggalo420? u rockin the sh*&! outta south of hell?

      Dude, I did exactly what is said here. I decrypt “Cars Race O Rama EUR Version”, after doing that I get a black screen!…So sad I made it worked by using Yoshiro’s V4 decrypter! But I want this “Prometheus” to do the job because it may help in many “new games” that require 6.20 firmware. I hope they can fix this to make it stable.

        And one thing, maybe it worked for you because you use GEN CFW for PSP 3000. But mine is CFW Enabler 3.50. You know GEN CFW have bugs and hang-ups so I use CFW Enabler.

    Ok guys i just tried using this method on Prince of Persia Sands of time and it works i am so happy i am using PSP 3000 5.03 Gen C full and it works what u have to do is not to add the the eboot.bin from prometheus, u only use the prometheus.prx from KHBBS. ok here the steps

    1)1) In case you are already using plugins, just paste this: “ms0:/KHBBS/KHBBS_patch.prx 1″ (without quotation marks) into your seplugins/game.txt. Otherwise just copy “seplugins” folder from this release to the root of your Memory Stick.

    2) Copy “KHBBS” folder to the root of your Memory Stick.
    3)Dl prometheus V0.2
    4) in that folder there is a file KHBBS
    5)Extract your eboot.bin from Prince of persia and rename it EBOOT.OLD
    6)now put EBOOT.OLD and the prometheus.prx which is in the KHBBS FOLDER into the WQSD_UMD_R31
    7)then put the ISO into the MS and the game will load.

    DO NOT take the EBOOT.bin and prometheus.prx from the normal Prometheus you got to take prometheus.prx from KHBBS folder then it will work. you dont have to extract EBOOT.bin from the first version ..just Eboot.old and Prometheus.prx

    anyway back to persona….anyone know how to get it to run on 300X gen-c full? i get the black screen and then nothing.tried to decrypt with the decrypters but unknown tag or something :(

    Hi all, First post so be gentle :-) I tried VampireSR fix for “Prince of persia” but all I get is a black screen! Then I have to reset ChickHen? I am pretty sure it is me (as it usually is) but any ideas why it is going wrong? Is it so obvious I’m going to look silly? Anyhows Thanks for the help.

    Easier steps, copy/paste from a friends notebook, lol:

    1.Create an ISO of whatever 6.20-required game.
    2.Open that ISO in WQSG_UMD and browse to PSP_GAME/SYSDIR.
    3.Extract EBOOT.BIN to a temporary folder.
    4.Use PRXDecrypter (or ISO Tool) to decrypt the extracted EBOOT.BIN file and rename it to EBOOT.OLD.
    5.Extract the Prometheus RAR archive so you have prometheus.prx and a new EBOOT.BIN.
    6.In WQSG_UMD drag ‘n drop the EBOOT.OLD, EBOOT.BIN and prometheus.prx files back to PSP_GAME/SYSDIR.
    7.Copy the ISO to your memory stick and try it out.

    There’s some other stuff about KHBBS, but I’m not sure if that refers to v0.1 or all higher versions.

    Anyone verified God Eater demo with this yet? There’s no point me ordering the game on my birthday unless it’s finally playable, ne?

      Not all games required 6.20 like Naruto 3 EUR version can be decrypt. Its EBOOT.BIN can’t be decrypted by any decryptor. Any suggestions?

    Regarding “Prometheus”, You really don’t need this program at all to play games that have 6.20 Firmware. If you have “CFWEnabler360″ then you are good to go because for any game that has already been patched and comes with KHBBS folder then all you need to do is copy the information that is in both the “Game.txt and VSH.txt” file in the KHBBS Folder and then open up your plugins folder and find your “Game.txt and VSH.txt.” files and paste, but remember you have to put the info you got in it’s own respective txt. file, for instance, if you copy the info in the “game txt. file in the KHBBS folder then you take that info and paste in your “game.txt” file which is in your plugins folder, same goes the “VSH.txt”. That’s how i got God Eater, Naruto Heroes 3, and Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands to work. I am currently running 5.03 Gen-C Full and CFWEnabler360. I havent tried MGS PeaceWalker yet, but I am, and I am sure that i will not have any problems running it. Hopefully this information is useful. Good Luck.

    These instructions don’t make any sense to me, the whole thing is worded in such a confusing way.

    1. Yep, make an iso out of your game that’s simple and makes sense.

    2.Use Use WQSG_UMD? In what way? It goes on by saying some other things in parenthesis that sound like it should be step 2 or step 1.5 really. It mentions “decrypted” at one point, does this mean when I extract the game’s eboot with umdgen it comes out decrypted? I don’t understand.

    I just tried these convoluted steps on a psp 1001 running 5.50 GEN-D3, I was able to decrypt psp2i using iso tools but when I patched the iso using the method above my game just stayed on a black screen and although I could access my Home menu I couldn’t go back to home by pressing yes.

    I have 6.35 pro hen. When I try to run these following games, it freezes with a black screen, and turns off automatically by itself after a while( not in sleep mode).
    1. Most wanted
    2.SSX on tour
    3.Test drive
    Any Ideas?
