PlayStation PSP Phone caught on Video. Doesn’t look fake!

Share

The , if thats what Sony call it. Certainly looks like one.

Check it out! The video’s below are new spy video’s of the PSP phone we have talked about before here. Its a hybrid PSP Go meets Android mobile phone. I do like the idea and look of it. It certainly doesn’t seem fake. Perhaps Sony is leaking this video out themselves to see the interest it generates.

After battling with the on screen touch controls of PSX4Droid (PSX emualtor) On my Samsung Galaxy S, I can honestly say that decent hardware controls are the only way to go if gaming on a mobile. Sony themselves think so too, hence why they are working on this PSP Go meets phone hybrid.

Its rumored to be announced in France on the 9th this month. See: Sony Ericsson to announce PSP phone December 9th. So not long to wait now till we have some kind of official word from Sony on the matter.

No exact specs are known, but its said to have a high resolution screen, 1Ghz CPU, 512+ MB of RAM and run the OS Android 3.0. Games to be 5 to 10 USD each and you download them of a seperate market place made for games and gamers a like. Can’t wait!

    “512+ GB of RAM”

    where is the analog sticks?

    • Cheeseiron

There are 2 lil sensors that act as analog sticks I think, they’re where the sticks would usually be.

      up my ass

  • ronelpriela

the screen is too small :(

  • Cheeseiron

Whoa! Thats AWESOME!! I wonder if its hackable. Probly is very difficult to hack. But its still great!

    • lenny

its probably not if it doesn’t have locks like the g2 i think it can be hacked because of android openness its all up to sony to stop that

  • kng_goonie@yahoo.com

as far as i know all the leaked posts contain some good info……
1gb ram i think 512mb seems more to the point,
nivida something video chip i hope its a A-mold screen too,
i believe its going to have 16GB installed flash memory also
and 1gb of system memory some new possessor better then that dragon one in the htc hd2. also the touch screen is a good touch i wounder if they are going to incorporate that into some new games format for the phone??????
duel analogs wow can’t wait to play resident evil again.
I wounder who is going to try to put hbl on it first….., lol

“Games to be 5 to 10 USD each and you download them of a seperate market place”
I don’t see why would they see a need for a separate market place. Probably because the current PSP Go binaries are incompatible. After all they are going to either dual-boot with Android or implement it in their kernel. It will be vulnerable because Android is an open system, so they might want to make sure you can’t make it run the old ISOs.

  • kng_goonie@yahoo.com

and to be released in France……. what kinda sh#@ is that what they buy more psps then us or something i don’t like that at all when ever do they release a piece of hardware in the united states…… when will we get a piece of the action?
    well i hope it comes here asap i need a new phone and i want the Zeus {Sony Ericsson }
Z1- PlayStation phone… and for around $500 suggested retail . HOPE tmobile get them first and for the 2 year price for around $200 bucks its in the bag.

  • kng_goonie@yahoo.com

android is open source that’s right as in the video shows he loads the psp function right from the home screen which would have to load from kernel wouldn’t it?

  • Kng Goonie

hope this phone comes out soon because i just broke my screen on my htc hd2 real bad

  • D-TeK-DeV

Instead of sensors for the analog stick, they should’ve had the original thing. Where is the grip?

  • Kng Goonie

the sensors are pretty good same tech on the black berry track pad my wife has it i kinda like it real snappy clean motion very responsive. besides they needed the room you know how big the phone would have to be in order to utilize duel analog sticks,…

  • D-TeK-DeV

So this phone is in stores in your country?

  • Christos

That’s a PHONE! It’s not a PSP Phone. Big disappointment to you Sony.

  • Kng Goonie

no im in the U.S. no phone here…. on the 9th in France to be revealed.

now this is the type of evidence that was needed, not that other crappy vid. If Verizon customers get access to this, I will buy it, but it seems as most Sony Ericsson phones are AT&T

This phone looks like the xperia x10

    • http://pspslimhacks.com/ PSPFan

Its looks like its going to be a SE Xperia xxxx phone. Might not even be Playstation branded, apart from the one logo in the phones menu.

  • xsKiitz

Gawd, that’s an ugly phone when it’s slided out. It looks like a Go prototype :/

    • http://pspslimhacks.com/ PSPFan

I would say its still a prototype, so your right.

  • weasd10

    It looks crappy to me.

  • http://united-odc.de d33eniz

Can you tell me why it is from Sony Ericsson and not from Sony? I mean- it’s a PSP. A PSP Phone. PPhone. Penis-Phone, call it whatever you want. Why Sony Ericsson?

    • http://pspslimhacks.com/ PSPFan

Well that’s easy really, Sony Ericsson is the mobile phone division of Sony. The non gamepad part of the phone is possible sharing Xperia tech. my guess is its a joint venture with the SCE and SE. If it is released under the SE brand and it does fail, it won’t hurt SCE too much. Make sense?

  • D-TeK-DeV

“Remember the story of the PSP Phone not playing PSP games anymore and also it being a part of the XPERIA family? Well it seems that it won’t be a PSP phone after all (I honestly don’t want to classify it under the PSP category anymore). The phone is set to be rebranded as the Sony Ericsson Z1 as per sources”

    • http://pspslimhacks.com/ PSPFan

Hmm then I guess that PlayStation icon and application will be redone. New non PS logo and name changed to game zone or something lame.

  • Jerico1830

Horrible design. The psp is a handheld gaming system. all they have to do is keep the same design as a psp 3000, add a second analog stick, a second set of triggers, and improve power and functionality instead of trying to get on the smart phone bandwagon. christ….

    • CF3esBestia

It goes both ways man. There were people complaining about the Ipod/Iphone design, but people still bought it.

      • Jerico1830

If Sony tries to make the new psp in any way like a phone they will fail as long as the iphone is around because people play games off their iphone already. they need to make the psp a handheld gaming system 1st and phone 2nd. If they were to improve the power of the psp with better graphics matching that of ps3, better audio, and perhaps an hd screen and make the controls close to that of a playstation controller then even if they were to raise the price of the psp both old psp fans even those with custom firmware as well as new psp fans will buy it.

  • CF3esBestia

@jericho They have the tech to make the PSP2 somewhat PS3/360 level gfx, but the power needed causes major overheating issues. Its better for them to wait till better tech becomes more readily available.

The whole focus with the PSPhone is to have it a gaming system first, then a Ericsson phone second. The PSPhone marketplace hopefully will be integrated with the PS Store allowing a more cohesive connection to the PS3. If not, and sony decides to make a separate app store for playstation, they will be internally competing with Android, because Android, like Apple; allows for 3rd party app to be created. Apple makes 30% of their money from apps along. Only thing they have to do is host the apps, while 3rd parties create them. If Sony goes in with the vision of creating their own apps, they will more than likely fail. I say integrate both into the PS Store and make sure its not clustered, and it will prove to be successful.

  • Zellox

it looks lijk a modify psp go

  • adam0000

id buy one if there was a way to root it and get free internet tethering through the network. thats the only reason in the world i keep my iphone. free internet at home via tethering.

i know the majority of the crowd hates the pspgo but i for one love the design and would love to get a psp phone but only if its capable of doing certain things. but so far, i dont see a problem with “this” perticular model. buy worthy in my book at a reasonable price.

  • The_Fool

I wonder how these sensorpad feels. I dont think it would be effective as a thumbstick.

  • Cortal

That SOOO looks fake. Its running Crygenomod, a custom OS for the droid, an that button plate could easily be one of the attatchments. Ive seen similar ones for gba emulation and other systems.
