Playstation Phone prototype benchmarked. Has Low powered GPU

The prototype is using a last gen GPU :(

The , which now seems to be called the “The Playstation Phone” or Zeus Z1 (code name?) has been benchmarked and the benchmark has been recorded. To be frank, its not really a 3d power house. Not by a long shot. The soon to be released Nexus S or current 6 month old Galaxy S can do twice the frame rate this PlayStation phone clocked. I certainly hope Sony plan to add an improved GPU before the phone is released! No point in having hardware game controls if the GPU is underpowered.

Its rumored to be released February / March 2011. Which would mean its likely be shown at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona come February. We will just have to wait and see if the hardware is given a boost before the final spec’s are confirmed….       Yep, they should have opted for a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird CPU with the SX540 GPU, its 6 months old tech. But it can do 56 fps! Vs this 24fps this phone does.

      Good eye. Maybe that might be the date when the game was shown and technology has improve vastly 2 years ago.

    From what I’ve seen, this thing’s going to go the way of the N-Gage. Not something I’d be showing of at a show either……unless I end the speech with, “Don’t look at me, I didn’t make it…..” LOL

    for soemthing new, the graphics don’t look that good, i’ve seen better graphics on a snes.

    ive always said the psp would b the best piece of mobile tech if they put phone capabilities on it but i had somthing a little stronger in mind

    it’s just a phone with game features so don’t complain about that wtf. the real next handheld from sony will be obviously not like this phone here.

    That’s really all this can do? Being a company that specializes in hardware, that’s bad. I don’t even see the point in using a GPU Benchmark if the device isn’t even going to utilize whatever they’re testing.. This is a definite pass for me.. plus I just upgraded to an Evo, so it’s not like I would be likely to switch anyway.

    I’m praying that they do a better job on the PSP2, since the 3DS has already secured my purchase just based on the launch lineup.

    i think it would be better if they focus on battery life,, at least 8 hours of non stop gaming in just 3 hours of charging….

    This is really sad….they could’ve just gone with the 1GHz Cortex….it can already do 50 + fps and it can be overlocked….man this sucks…

    it still looks very playable, although more fps would be better. it’ll probably have a longer battery life. looks pretty cool.

    Well, the DS is very Low Powered and it still sold. So, I don’t think it’s an issue.
