Papaton 2 Exploit. HBL rev 0.85 released.

We haven’t posted updates to the homebrew loader project, that is up intill now. As revision .085 is considered to be quite a stable release. So if you haven’t already, you can download the Papaton 2 demo, HBL exploit and hacked saved game and get crackin. Time for some homebrew on your PSP Go or non hackable PSP-3000.

Now you many thinking what you can play via the HBL? Well quite a bit now, here’s a few examples: PSP Emulators like gpSP (GBA) for HBL, Scummvm (Classic point and click adventures), Picodrive (Genesis / Megadrive) and PSP MAME4ALL just to name a few

And great homebrew games like, REminiscencePSP, Doom, Wolfenstein 3d and Arkaniod. You can run many games and emualtors now, just check out our PSP Homebrew games and PSP emulators for many more.

How to use the Half Byte homebrew loader:

Download and install the Patapon 2 demo to your MemoryStick or /Mass Memory (PSP Go)

Download the HBL release and copy the “hbl” directory and the “h.bin” file to memory root

Now copy the hacked save data folder UCUS98732_DATA02 to /PSP/SAVEDATA

Move any homebrew you want to play or try to the folder: /PSP/GAME

Start the Patapon 2 demo and load the hacked save game, then load your homebrew from the HBL menu

@those who have problems with the GBA emulator:PSPFan made a mistake!!That emulator is not gonna work on this.But there is another GBA emulator,and it is called gpSP-Kai 3.2 .That will work for sure;)

CAN SOME1 HELP ME!!!! i downloaded the files and all but wen i get the hacked savedata loaded i get to the part were it says push any button to continue i push R then wen it comes to the part were it shows the part were u push R to load HBL i push R and my psp freezes for a few secs then sutsdown!!!! plzzzzzzz help!!!!!! my psp is a 3001 6.20

Ya, I Followed the instructions to the T – I can get the first Hello World screen to load on my PSP3001 6.20 but when I try to load the HomeBrewLoader it just freezes after I hit the R button… any ideas? It’s deffnatly not a copy paste problem…

Note – One thing i couldnt download Patapon 2 demo from this site so i had to find it some where else… is there anything special about the demo here?

Im not tryin to detur anybody from using this so i see psp3000 going on a rant im just tryin to get it working for me, maybe ive done something wrong the directions are prety easy to follow so, like i said im just tryin to get it working for me. im happy its working for others already but i must be doing something wrong or it dosent work for every psp

UPDATE – I downloaded the Patapon 2 Demo off the Playstation Store and it worked! maybe that will help others

Im playing a SNES emu on PSP 3001 ofw 6.20 with this method sweet thanks alot – seams downloading the demo from the playstation store was all i needed to do

for all those PSP user’s having trouble of their emulator/HBL, just download this file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IOVLBSJA, HBL rev79 is smooth running an emulator but not all the game of gba run on it, so if you encounter a GBA game does not run on rev79, try the rev85 ^^… works fine… and download the rom on this link http://romhustler.net/roms/gba.. extract the “mh gpsp” root\psp\game. and put the rom you have already downloaded into the root\psp\game\mh gpsp\gba\rom… that’s all you need..

Rev79 and rev85 have just the same compatibility for homebrews,the only difefrence is that R85 has less bugs.But,lol,isnt obviously that the ROMS must be putted in the ROM folder? xD

It would be easier for all of us if you would just look up on the older comments..However,yes,try Daedalus R14 for N64,Homer’s Rin 3.2 for GBC,and gpSP-Kai 3.2 for GBA.

Hold on….I didnt test it with R85,let’s see if I can get it run…..It is working for me.But there are 2 versions for this:one for phat psps and one for slim psps.Are you sure you downloaded the slim one?

i do the step to load the hbl
after loading the homebrew game the screen went black and on the upper left corner
it show “LOOPING HBL THREAD”
in other homebrew app the “LOOPING HBL THREAD” become large
and my psp hung up and automatically shut off

right i got a n64 emu to work but the bad thing is that the sound is not the best. any suggestions on what to do

Thers nothing to do…It is a really old revision.But don’t worry,I saw salvy working on a Daedalus for HBL.Actually…He allredy made two revisions,but the first does not play with a verry good speed and the second one is crashing in less than 5 minutes after you run the rom….

Hello staff, I have a PSP 3010 5.51 OFW through HBL Patapon2 rev. 85 could run Final Burn Alpha For PSP.
I managed to run all CPS1 and CPS3 with “SFIII3AN.ZIP” just can not run CPS2 and NEO GEO roms.

Could anyone help me?

OK…..now,@eveyone NO ISO/CSO,OR ANYTHING WITCH HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FIRMWARE WILL EVER WORK FOR HBL.AND there is a chance for PSX games,but HBL team need to done first with the homebrews and plugins,so you’ll have to wait.@kianmiranda NONE of the emulators/games mentioned by you is supposed to work.If you want to play GBA games,use gpSP-Kai 3.2 .It’s a pretty old BETA,so it still have issues at some games(including pokemon fire red…sigh…) with the savestate,but at the most of the games savestate work.Remember,wololo and the others have NOT done with HBL yet.Be patient and wait until you will be able to play your favourite games.

You cant do anything…..This is a known issue at the official HBL site…But dont worry,I’m sure every existing issue will be fixed in time.

Forgive the ignorance but would it not be possible to take, say, firmware 5.00 alter it so that the PSP sees it as a new update like 6.20 instead of a downgrade? Can the identity of the firmware not be altered?

yes hooray for the exploit… but do you wish to play a gba emulator or not psp game to your psp? it is a psp and you should be playing a psp games… i hope this exploit will bring to some CFW that can play PSP’s iso..

im also a fan of psp.. it is the best… and i salute devs for doing a great job to have a free play. tnx

Well,if you put it in this case…You should play PSP games using UMDs:DThis will,however,never lead to a CFW,so….Good luck in finding another 6.20 exploit…!

Not all the PSP-300x same ? Mine is PSP-3006 and it worked fine, and the Gpsp kai 3.2 also worked fine.

Yeah there is a problem with the savestate in some games….*sigh*…I do not know anything about Pokemon Emerald,I didnt try it (yet),but the savestate in leaf green version works flawlestly,so….You could check that out:)

If you have an old 2000,yeah,you should use a Pandora Battery and downgrade to 5.00 M33-6.If you have a PSP with data code 8c or 8d,this is the only hack you could use(look behind the battery,you will find there the data code of your PSP).I’m not sure about the old ones,but for new ones I’m 100% sure it will work;I have a PSP 2000 with data code 8c and a friend with PSP 3001,so…Good luck!

I first tried rev. 85 and it loaded up the hbl screen with the 2 games(?) that comes included in the exploit, but when i press the x button it always goes back to the xmb. I then tried it with rev. 79 and it does the same thing. Apperently this does not work with my 3001. I know I did everything correctly. Help anyone?

There is no game that come included in the exploit…:|Try out SNES for HBL.I’m pretty sure you tried to load a game wich is not compatibile with HBL..

I don’t know what happen to y memmory card after using this exploit, now all the data in th memmory card is currupted but music files are working as usual, but the difference is that none of the file from memmory stick can be downloaded on pc anymore.

This happen after using HBL (Half byte loader) hack. Does anyone else has the same problem?

Yes you are doing something wrong.Not ALL the homebrews do work.Try the homebrew showed in the video,that will work for sure.
