OpenIdea ISO Loader v1.1 Beta 2 For 6.20 TN-A Released

While most people are probably already using the Prometheus ISO Loader for you’re ISO loading on HEN needs, developer would like to offer you an alternative: his recently released which just passed into v1.1 Beta 2. Anyone who is familiar with the Half-Byte Loader scene has probably heard of this ISO loader before as it’s been in development for a while.

Dridri’s OpenIdea ISO Loader takes a different approach than most ISO loaders: instead of launching the ISO itself, the OpenIdea ISO Loader is designed to be paired with the OpenIdea Eboot Builder, which converts your ISO files to EBOOTs and allows you to run them directly from the XMB (after loading the HEN of course). This removes the need to launch another application through the HEN then select which ISO you want to run.

Here is what wololo had to say about the OpenIdea ISO Loader:

Dridri is actively working on this awesome tool, so expect more updates in the near future There are reports that exiting a game will crash (although as you can see on the video, the “pause” feature on the PSP go seems to work just fine), and don’t expect all games to work with this for now, but it will surely improve with time

Here are instructions for running the OpenIdea ISO Loader (thanks to OM9H4X):

  1. Extract the ISO Loader (link 1) and put all the .prx-files in “ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM”. there is NO need to register these in the vsh.txt file
  2. Take an ISO of your choice and drop it onto the “iso_packer.exe” that is the eboot converter (link 2).
  3. After the program finished converting, put the EBOOT (that can be found in the same directory as the ISO it has been created from) on your MS like this “ms0:/PSP/GAME/anynamehere/EBOOT.PBP”
  4. The converted ISO should now show up in the games section in the XMB.

Since this application is still in the Beta stages, don’t expect it to be perfect at this time. As wololo said, Dridri is actively developing this ISO loader, so expect updates and improvements to come around regularly. If you feel like giving it a try then go for it. If worst comes to worst you could always go back to using the Prometheus ISO Loader.

    Any chance this might work on 5.50 GEN? I know it seems unnecessary, but I find it very annoying to have to have a second folder for many of my games that I use. Much more convenient to have them all in ms0:/PSP/GAME, y’know?

      drag your iso or cso to work. drag at iso_packer.exe

      dude i had the same issue.
      do one thing, drag ur iso file onto the iso packer, until you see a msg on the iso packer in blue colour “open with iso packer”…..thats it!

    Its great, except the PSP crashes while existing the game and you have to restart the entire process from HBL->HEn->XMB …..

    Due to this, it just might make the 6.20 HEN the biggest thing

      if you have a 4g this may be the cause, because the UO patch doesent work so well so 4g users will need to wait for a TN-B release to support 4g.

    hey guys i cant load any games i have a psp 3004 4g with an unofficial patch of hen and did everything pspfan said up there but it doesent work please help

      y dont u stick to prom iso loader..i also have psp 3004 4g with an unofficial patch of hen and all my games work perfectly….even when i switch off my psp and then switch it on again the game is resumed..so just stick to prom iso loader until this openidea iso loader is more evolved..

      It should be possible..
      But considering that we already hav VSH menus, plugin support and even ISO loaders,,
      It won’t be required…:)

      You mean the promethius iso loader, with m33 driver? Someone posted it on wololo talk: http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1010 Just download it, extract and put it in your game folder. Make an iso folder in ms0, put your backup cso in there, and run the hen.

        I can’t get the M33 driver to work but the ISO 9660 driver works fine so what’s the difference?

      Ummmm 6.20 TN-A HEN works with any psp.On the 3000 psp theres a patch for that.on the 1000 and 2000 u can try removing the memory stick,restart vsh by the vsh menu,then when it finished restarting u can just re-insert the memory stick.You have to do that every time ur gonna load a new game.

    I have a psp 1001 with 5.50 prometheus and is it recommended to upgrade to 6.20 for this new firmware exploit? Or should I stay at what I got right now?

    I tested it with final fantasy tactics and killzone liberation, both of them experience a kernal crash of some sort.

    Hey to all GO users having the “crash while exiting” glitch I have a work around. Since the pause feature works just fine keep one of your custom EBOOTs as your resume game and now every time the PSP crashes back to OFW just resume the custom pause game and pause again and your back to 6.20 TN HEN without having to run Patapon or the HEN. So if your like me and hate the Patapon music with a passion give it a try.

    Hey TN-B is out and downgrade is also released for every psp on psp gen. (i have downgraded my psp 3004 to 5.03!)

    Guys don’t downgrade your psps. Sony wants this!!If we downgrade our psps we will lose the battle against sony, we need prove for sony: “we are strong”, so we need continue with 6.20 isosloader, the future 6.35TN-HEN.

      WTF are you talking about? Prometheus Version 1 works perfectly on TN-B, and Version 2 of the Prometheus iso loader works even better with compatibility (For Example: DragonBall Z Tenkaichi Tag Team)

      @heroat on your psp or psp go system should not be running slow at on the go or 3000s they games actually run faster for me and other people i know but your best bet is the prometheus iso loader it has more of a iso capability bro hopefully that would help u bro

      @question no it cant bro they havent got the plugins for the psx roms yet so for now u can only play isos or homebrew emulators for now if u like games like marvel vs cap or fighting gameslike that try the cps2 emulator it works flawless for me enjoy bro

      @mike dont use the open idea loader it doesnt work at least for me and for the people it works for it has a low iso capability so use the promethues iso loader and when u download it put it in your game folder in the psp menu then create a iso folder in the root of your psp then put your legaly owned isos in that iso folder unplug your go then launch the promethues iso loader and enjoy bro

      @homayoun in the home menu wolo gives the link for the 6,20 bro put it in your game folder make sure you psp go is 100 percent charged then upgrade it when u finished delete the file then just follow the tutorials and enjoy brotha laters
