Today Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has released firmware version 3.73. They have only announced one change:
- improved stability of UMD operating
It is unconfirmed when other regions will release the new update. As you have probably already guessed, DarkAlex and homebrew developer Mathieulh have stated that there are no critical changes. In fact, 3.72 and 3.73 are almost completely identical except 20 bytes worth of change to lflash_fatfmt, the module versions, and the text file that displays the firmware version. Sony, you continue to disappoint me

Download: As of now you have to use the network update feature on your psp.
NOTE: Don’t download this if you wish to use homebrew, emulators, etc.

No you can’t downgrade or play games from the memory stick with official firmware. However you can use the Pandora method to install the latest custom firmware on it. Visit the forums to find out more

Does anybody here know how to run Descent PSP on the new psps (slim, lite) since you can’t downgrade the fw? i would appreciate the help! =)

fyi- descent is a 360 degree fps spaceship shooter-it has been ported to the psp-but it was when the fw was 1.0-1.5.

Yes you can. It’s called Pandora. Everyone knows about it except you appearently. Go to the forums on this site to find out more. You will need a hacked Phat PSP to do it though (unless you want to do it the hard way I heard about).
