Not a PSP2 or PSP-4000 but PSP 3G?

Artist's Impression of the PSP 3G?

There have been further / rumors out there on the web lately, which now seem to point towards a 3G enabled PSP, surprisingly called a PSP 3G. Again this is a apparent insider source and not very creditable. However they claim:

The new PSP model will be called PSP 3G. Unlike previous PSP models it will have a touch screen as well as an UMTS support, Bluetooth and a microphone. That means you will be able to use it easily as a normal mobile phone. With its ultra compact size and design it will be not much bigger than an iPhone but it will offer you the highest gaming comfort. There won’t be any UMD-drive any more but instead a keyboard with a slide mechanism though. But of course, you will be able to download all the games from the PSN Store with the PSP 3G soon. Cooperating with Sony Ericsson, we will be able to deliver the PSP 3G in the USA and Japan by the end of April 2009.

Sound to good to be true, I’m sure all the rumblings and talk of a next model PSP aren’t all for nothing. Look what happened when we heard about the PSP-3000. It was the same, a new model coming with a built in Mircophone and a better screen..That did come due. I guess come April we will see if there is a new PSP 3G /PSP2 / PSP-4000 or whatever it will be called.

ya it sounds cool but i dont think its gunna happen
the touchscreen is a bad idea
and it should have an internal flashdrive to support all the games maybe like a 15 gig or something

Haha, thats funny. I will believe the PSP 4000 with sliding screen, but not this. :)

    Sony will quickly deny this.

it would be cool but i doubt it…….. besides all this touching and 3g makes it seem like psp dont got nothing on iphone looks like people just wana make a psp/iphone just my guess

    Happy April Fools!

True or not, reading that quote reminds me that the next PSP probably will be “ultra compact” and razor thin, and I’m already PO’d about it. The iTouch, for example, has a gaming life of about 2 hours, but hey, it’s thin! Seriously, what’s the obsession?

Yea its fake, i seen this picture like in 2007

  • cool

This all sounds cool but i doubt it’s true. I can believe sliding screen, but keyboard just sound unrealistic. I also doubt that they’ll take out the umd drive because there are people who have previous versions of the psp and still own umds.

Looks cool, but yet a bogus in my opinion….. I just hope we’ll get ta PSP2 rather than a psp-4k

  • boner3000

first of all if they were going to give it a touch screen and make it like a touch then why would they need a damn keyboard ,,, also i dont remember where i read it ..game informer maybe sony said they were completely against touch screens,,, individuality or some shit right though this would be cool but why not just go buy a touch seems pointless to me to make it like this anyways boner

  • boner3000

oh and the reason it wouldnt need a key board with a touch screen is because the touch orients the keyboard to be touch too so yeah,,, thought i would clarify

  • Mario

Looks very nice!!!, but end of april??? ,not this year ;)

  • .ISO

Wow this looks fucking awesome :D

  • me

why are the icons and dock menu from an iphone/ ipod touch.
its cool but theres no way of a keyboard.
it just looks too much like something apple would make.
sony is more creative that that.

  • Hummer

Yea Right. Sony would never make that. Right now the psp is unpopular compared to the nintendo ds. Sony wouldn’t keep the same basic design of the psp. It wouldn’t make a profit.
