Libtiff Exploit Found in Firmware 5.50
Update: Seems this is an older tiff that wololo posted. This got out of hand, information we thought was new isn’t really and this won’t lead to an exploit its just a crash. Plain and simple. We apologise for this. It seems the source of this libtiff crash got it wrong and well…we were caught unaware. Comments have been closed as to not add further fuel to the fire. Noob81 puts it best on the Dark-Alex forums about this
Things are certainly getting interesting as of late… Recent exploits which lead to chickHEN and now PSP developer wololo has found another. This time its a Libtiff Exploit for Firmware 5.50. Here’s some video proof.

becuase theres a Vaulnerability in the ChickenHen Files that allows you to change the Firm name and a few other fun things

I wouldn’t say it’s a vulnerability. Plus, wololo is a great developer and he wouldn’t post a lie. He has a background in libTiff exploits.

Instead of developing another exploit why the developer develop CFW to end up trying luck of executing HEN after a total reboot process.

I’m quite sure it works, I myself have 5.50 firmware. I made a new folder, placed both images in it and scrolled down to the last tiff and…. poof! crashed

This is _NOT_ and exploit, just a crash (for now) Also, we aren’t sure if wololo was even the one who found this.. someone just uploaded these files with his name on it.

Hi, Is it possible that somebody will update this to run home brew apps and iso?
This exploit works on my psp, and it crashes. Does this mean that my motherboard can run custom firmware?

It said that it could lead to another ChickHEN or downgrader so there’s a possibility but there’s also a possibility that it will not happen. About your motherboard, if you specify what kind of PSP you have, maybe we could tell if it can be installed with CFW, But since you said that you tried the exploit, I assume that you have a 5.50 OFW and sad to say that even if your motherboard is compatible with CFW, there’s no way to install as of now a CFW on PSPs with 5.50 OFW.

You’re a complete ignorant. Davee don’t have any plans adding ISO/CSO support. It’s not a waste of time either because there’s a lot of PSPs out there with 5.50 OFW. If someone aside from Davee work out with this, there’s a chance that the next HEN will have an ISO/CSO support. Think about that.

I have a PSP 3004 black with 5.50 and it works. If you put both of them.. If I only put one of the files it doesn’t evne show it up, i mean “unsupported data” or something like that.. If you put both it works, it crashes the psp. I want HEN faster! I hope this exploit goes to something big.

HDD: Hard Drive Disk
PSP: Playstation Portable…
PS2: Playstation 2
PS1: Playstation
PS3: Playstation 3
Can’t change the I/O ports on a PSP, at least I don’t think so.
And you need coding experience, without it you can’t do anything.

You guys jumped to the idea that ChickHEN 5.50 maybe be available. It may take some time to make one. By then Sony will have 5.51. There may not be a ChickHEN 5.50. Anyway is this also compatible with other 5.00 firmwares? Like 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, 5.05.
