Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Demo Out. Works on CFW 5.50 GEN-B2

At theToyko Game Show 2009 (TGS09), IGN were lucky enough to score an exclusive co-op Demo release. Now while this demo is in Japanese, it also requires Firmware 5.51 or 6.00 to run.

I downloaded it, ran it on my PSP expecting to to see error message. “The game could not be started (80010013). However to my surprise its working on . So no need to flash Official Firmware 5.51 or Firmware 6.00 !! And added bonus. The demo looks good, although my Japan isn’t too hot so I don’t understand a thing…

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B2 owners,

This is the version.txt you’ll need for it to run:

Remember to activate version.txt in your Recovery menu and then go to Advance, Toggle usb (flash0). Then cut and paste the above text into your version.txt on flash0 vsh/etc/

      Yep its defiantly looks like one to buy. Its on my games to buy list (English version of course). The game plays much like Resistance Retribution.

    i just downloaded it and enabled version txt and pasted the new version txt but the game gives me the “game could not be started (80010013)” can someone who has this working help me out thanks

      Mine works on my PSP-2004 (TA-85) Also I have disabled almost all plug-in’s. Did you overwrite the flash0 version text? Not just place it in the ms root like some ppl do?

        was i supposed to paste that txt along with the original txt that was already saved in the original version txt? ive never replaced files in the flash0 for fear of messing it up

        overwrite it and make sure you disable your plug-ins.

    i have a psp 1001 i dnt have any plug ins installed and i did ovewrite the version.txt in the flash0 not in the root of the memory stick, but what i did was delete the old version txt file create a new one named version and pasted only release:5.55:

    and saved it then exited then i put the DOCUMENT.DAT and EBOOT.PBP files taht were in the folder i downoaded from here into PSP/GAME then i went to game it showed up as a game. when i select it it says PSP then goes black then says “The game could not be started (80010013).

      Go in the recovery

      >> Advenced >> advenced configuration >> Game plugin on disabled

      you can disable your plug-ins in the recovery menu.

      I’ve looked into it and the site. We have no such pop up code or anything. I did a server wide virus scan too. Nothing. Looks like something on your end.

        Very strange then, I only have it on this site and it popped up when I clicked an item, happened on multiple PC’s too. However it doesn’t happen much.. rarely.

    Yes Superb…. Put folder in GAME not GAME 5.XX … and works with no problems…. Strange though using Plugins and still works… PSP-2003…

    yea it is starnge i had to dissable plug ins my psp is 1001 but its workin now woot woot i havent even played it my brother got first can anyone tell me how long the demo is? or if its multiplayer?

    Yeah I like the game, awesome graphics and physics, but aiming system ain’t perfect, Snake looks a bit funny when using manual aim, but that’s of course not a big deal lol.     i did everything like the version.txt and also turned game plugins off but it dont work
    not even sure that i installed the gen-b2 right? doesnt say a thing

      No it won’t, the version.txt won’t help you play the newest games.

    i dont know if its just me, but after doing the instruction above > the demo work perfectly
    when it try running other games in my ms (dissidia, tekken dr) > it says “the game could not be started (80020148)

    here’s what i did
    enter rec. menu
    -> advanced
    -> advance config. then disable both plain modules & execute boot.bin
    i also found out that you can already disable version.txt at the configuration
    so you can enable the plug-ins that you want, like 4 ex.
    i enabled
    cxmb
    hold+
    charge_ctrl
    vshmenu (revised)
    you can also enable cfe_loader(vsh&game)
    but if u had cfe_loader(vsh&game) enabled
    the demo wont work anymore
    it will say the game could not be blah blah blah

    psp slim n lite 2001
    ms injected ipl (no TM) bec iam using hard mod pandora battery

    It works for me. Psp Slim 2000 5.50gen b2.

    Will someone post the controls for this damn thing. A video walk through with Remote joy with cometary on how to play. It plays allot like syphonfilter.

    PSPFan justinxtreme is saying that he has an exploit that will work on firmware up to 5.55 that would allow for cfw to work on the psps its an MOHH something we are all waiting to see whats up with the release date and a video I am giving him the benefit of the doubt but as far as I am concerned I am not buying into anything until you as the GENERAL give the full clearance that it is 100% safe.

      LDX 5.55 is fake. It’s the same as 5.50 GEN.

    I have a PSP-2004 TA-088v3 running CFWe 5.03 MHU (M33), my CFW is running in the memory and I can’t use a mms or pandora. I cannot change or update my CFW to anything else but 5.03 though Custom Firware Enabler and ChickenHEN.

    Is it a bad idea to attempt to change the version.txt in my flash0?

    I really want to try and run this demo on my PSP, obviously I get the standard error message but then again I haven’t changed the version.txt yet.

    I’m scared I’ll brick my psp as it is not advised to write anything in the flash with these partially hackable PSP’s such as mine or the PSP-3000. If I brick it, then that’s it, I cannot recover it.

    well yes it is a bad idea cause if u do one tiny thing wrong u can get the evil ROSD/ red screen of death and then there is no going back unless u restore the nand restore. and the only way to do that is pandoras battery so NO dont do it! i do not wont anything bad to happen to ur psp

      Thanks for the sound advice. Yeah, I’m hoping some one with a PSP-3000 has tried their luck since I’ve got the same disadvantages as a PSP-3000. Looks like I’m going to have to wait until newer CFW is released or buy a second PSP to run OFW.

        i had a psps 3000 and i threw it in the ocean then got it and told my parents i dropped it they felt bad and got me a 2000 XD

    ultimakillz has a detailed tutorial on all models of the psp this is the bible of putting cfw on the psp I would suggest to all to read that tutorial it is the best that I have ever seen it is filled with all the info and has all the answers to every possible question with cfw for the psp..

      no it won’t I did every possible thing. no dice. just wait for a patch or borrow a friends psp that have a OFW and download it from there. Thats what i did. So you you just save your time.

    I’m running Gen-D2 and did not need the version.txt hack copy and paste. All I did was enable version.txt, disable game plugins through recovery menu, put it on sony np9600 w/e driver, and she played.
