Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker English Demo Released

Reports are just in that has been released via PSN in Hong Kong. The demo is reported to indeed be working on 5.50 GEN-D3 and 5.03 GEN-C so thats all good. And its a decent demo too, four demo missions to play and has ad-hoc connectivity. Open the rar file and move the NPHH00145 folder to your PSP/GAME/ folder. Disable any plug-ins and if your using Game Categories. Place this folder outside an CAT_ folders. Tested and working on Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3 final.

I managed to get this to work with my plug-ins enabled on my PSP-2000 TA-85 running Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3 Final. Works with RemoteJoy no problem. Awesome game and I will be buying this one when its released for sure.

    OK guys..i see that a lot of you are not able to run the demo, here’s a complete tutorial
    #have gen-C running
    #press select and goto recovery menu>CPU Speed>disable any plugins you have. press back.
    #goto Configuration>Use version.txt and enable it
    #exit recovery menu by pressing select
    IF THE VERSION .TXT DOESN’T GET ENABLED THEN DO THE FOLOWING:
    #open gen-C eboot by holding down the L-trigger.
    #uninstall gen-c
    #install Gen-A and then install GEN-B patch(because you cant directly install gen-b without gen-a)
    #now AGAIN press select and goto recovery menu>CPU Speed>disable any plugins you have. press back.
    #goto Configuration>Use version.txt and enable it
    #exit recovery menu by pressing select

    now the game will definately run

    I Did it!!!
    if you have this problem: “The system software of your PSP is version 5.03.
    To start, you must update to version 6.20 or later.
    For update methods, refer to the system instructions for the psp system”

    use the total_noob’s vsh menu
    then go to the recovery menu -> Configuration -> Try enabling “Use version.txt”
    but if is not enabled, try enabling “Hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in game menu”

    and it will enable the version.txt

      You know this only works if you have 5.03 GEN for HEN, right?

      That doesn’t really help people, with 5.50GEN-D3.

      I tried doing everything on my PSP, version.txt and hiding pic0/1 doesn’t help either.

      And anyone have it working on GEN-D3?

      Did not work for me as well.

      These were the steps I performed:
      Installed 5.03 GEN-C Final for ChickHEN R2
      Rebooted (full)
      Re activated ChickHEN
      Re activaed GEN-C (checked version on System Settings -> Info)
      Checked configurration (version.txt and Hide .PNGs are both enabled)
      Started the demo (downloaded from PSN, transferred via a PS3)
      I got the error.

    ISO on a 3000 with Chicken R2 and 503 CF Gen-C…. works awesome…. get the game at pspisoz

    I hav a psp 3000 5.50 and that is a hell of a good game but i cant play it . . . . :’( . . . .
    and i cant update it X(

    i just made the peace walker demo work on my psp 3000 gen-c final.
    all you have to do is after you have chickhen r2 install gen-b and check your firmware
    and if it says gen-c instead then you can reboot psp fully and when you get chickhen r2, boot to gen-c this time and the demo will work. ithink! it worked for me so….

    and if that does not work then you can do this:
    first chcikhen r2—–>gen-b—–>gen-c final.
    do it few times and see if the demo works or not.

      How can I see the current version.txt in gen-c? Holding R while booting does not seem to work like gen-b does…

    it didnt work?
    did you try changing the settings in recovery mode after that?
    it may help.

      Is it possible to uninstall everything and start from clean?

      (I think I got the GEN-B from this site, but I have been installing all the CFWs, so I might have broken it).

      Still no luck for me.

      I realized I had CFWEnabler 3.60.

      I unstalled it.
      Then uninstalled CFWGEN C
      Reinstalled CFWGEN -B
      Reinstalled CFWGEN -C

      The demo still does not work.

      Settings in Recovery menu:
      UMD Mode: M33 driver -NO UMD-
      Use M33 Network Update: enabled
      Hide PIC0. PNG and PIC1.PNG…: enabled
      Use version.txt: enabled
      Use Game Cetegories: enabled

      (Btw I’m starting to hate ChickHEN, sometimes I need to try 10 times to get it working!)

    umm..
    i wonder how i made it work on my?????
    that is abit weird…
    i know that the only things a tried were:
    1: i went from gen-a——>gen-b——–>gen-c. it didnt work…
    and then i tried installing gen-b and gen-c twice and i messed around with the recovery mode and somehow
    it worked!!! i can even play the demo with out version txt!!!! when i load the demo it goes to the health screen
    and then flashes purple and starts the game!!!!!!

      I’ll be out a few days, after I return I’ll try that meddling with recovery setting on a spare Memory Stick. I think somehow license or similar things are stores on MS, and it might be the cause.

    very nice game! try doing Co-op with your friend(Ad-hoc only :( ) they must add some new patch to make us proud of Hideo Kojima
