iR Shell 4.7 Released for 5.00

AhMan has released iR Shell 4.7, the complete shell replacement for the PSP. This new version adds support for 5.00 M33 firmware as well as many other changes, listed below.

Changelog:

* Support Dark_AleX latest 5.00M33-3 CFWs. Users of original 5.00M33 & M33-2 should upgrade to M33-3 to avoid incompatibility issues. The latest Popsloader 5.00 is also supported.
* An Infra-Red learning remote is added for PSP Phat. You no longer need to hunt pronto codes for your appliances. Just point your remote unit at the PSP and it will learn the iR code. It is available under higher firmwares and not fw 1.5 mode. Refer to the Release Note for usage details.
* The nethostfs connection handling has been redesigned to be more robust. However, iR Shell 4.7 and onwards can only connect to the new nethostfs PC server v2.1. Make sure you’ve updated the nethostfs PC server.
* Enhance UMD/ISO game compatibility via nethostfs MAX mode. Most previous failed games will probably work.
* Usbhostfs & nethostfs host redirection under XMB has returned.
* The Adhoc PC connection for nethostfs was broken since fw 3.71. This feature has been brought back for PSP Phat.
* Enhance the HTML Plugin (by Dark_AleX) to allow direct launching of flash games with extension SWF.

Im new to this ir shell thing so can anyone tell me what this thing does, what benefits and disbenefits do i get from it and can it brick my PSP.

  2. Naruto says:

iRshell is one of my favorite apps. No, it cant brick your PSP.

I cant think of any disbenefits.

The benefits is, you can switch to your XMB whenever you want, in game music, iR universal remote (Phat only), take photos of whatever your PSP has on its screen, and more.

I wish I could use this, but my fat and slim PSP’s screens are broken, and I dont have the money for Play n Trade to fix it. Dx

  3. dnicer says:

Ok thank you for the anwser.
Now can someone tell me how to install this onto my Slim ??

  4. hxh103 says:

yes, installation instructions would be nice, there is no instructions in the zip, I guess I’ll have to Google

  5. dimy93 says:

i personally see no point of iR Shell at all-several times i install it on my phat and on my slim but for me its extreemly useless -we have screenshot plugin, music plugin and they work much ,much better-because of iR my psp freeze and its extreemly difficult to get it work-to sum all this-not working properly and useless

  6. Naruto says:

Installation is easy. Just put se plugins on the root of your MS, then go in the PSP folder of the ZIP, GAME folder, and copy that into the GAME folder of your MS. Then put the IRShell folder on oyur MS root.

Its not fair to say iR shell is not working properly, its not fair and not true. I have had no issues with any version of iR shell to date. The features I find most helpful have nothing to do with music, or screenies. iR can also send any file wirelessly to another psp running iR and iR can also connect to a usb mass storage device such as your computers harddrive and play ISO and CSo backups from that drive, very usefull if you have a small memory card. I think people get upsate because that don’t know how to use certain homebrews.

  8. dnicer says:

d3flat3r you said i can connect to my USB storage device so how can i do it ??

  9. ragnarok01 says:

mmmmmmmm now that this is for 5.00m33 i might upgrade my psp thanx

  10. dimy93 says:

d3flat3r all this can be done with homebrews-about the wireless adhock transfer i have very good homebrew that even sends the program through the game sharing-can ir do this-i don’t think so.remote joy for playing the games on pc screen and the playing through usb there was one homebrew but i don’t remmember the exact name-the ir is a compilation of homebrews-not good working though-i had the same homebrew on my psp and have no need of ir
