Hrimfaxi aka Liquidzigong quits the PSP Scene

Share

hrimfaxi aka rose to fame with his custom & modules that allowed higher games to run on CFW 5.50 GEN or 5.00 M33. He has announced that he is to leave the PSP scene. This comes days after he claimed he could have a working fix that would allow 6.36 games (Monster Hunter Portable 3rd) to work on Custom Firmware using his unreleased Prometheus 3 v5. However it seems legal threats from Capcom or Sony have put an end to his work and further Prometheus releases seem very unlikely.

Goodbye liquidzigong…

Alot of people seem to quit the psp scene after a while i wish they wouldn’t but i guess they want to do other things.

  • DaAnimeOtaku

Is it too difficult for liquidzigong to continue releasing prometheus but under a different name and under layers and layers of proxies?
that way its a tad harder to track, and we can still have our prometheus. :D
anyways, we will miss you. :’(

maybe its because of ANTI PIRACY LAW….
maybe they were given a warning or they will do jail time……

    hmmmm *busts out laughing*

You will be missed. I think I can speak for all when I saw, With great gratitude for your efforts, we thank you deeply for your time, your knowledge, and your releases.

  • Zepheral

Today is a sad day. I’m a apathiest so this is hard to say but , God bless him. And have a good life.

  • DAud_IcI

Damn, such a shame! I hope he will make this open source or pass the code to another hacker, so the fires of Prometheus won’t be extinguished…

  • CF3esBestia

@hacktester Thats just a fake leaked vid out everywhere on youtube and other video sites. Sony Ericsson has confirmed NOTHING at all at this point. Matter of fact, that kind looks like my phone.

    • hacktester

@CF3esBestia WHEN did EVER Sony confirmed their new products?
      Quoting Wololo:
,,Update: many of you reported that Sony claimed this product is a fake. Try to remember the last time Sony said “yes, it’s true” to rumors about their new products. The answer is “never”. It’s their job to say that the product does not exist. ”
But hell yeah,I gotta agree with you on that. All the phones look pretty much the same those days xD

      • CF3esBestia

@hack very true right there. I just need more proof that it is the actual phone. That guy never slid the phone out. Then the emblem at the bottom left corner of the phone was too big for it to be a Sony logo of any type.

  • bobkarter52

Wow legal issues… Just let me release it!!

  • TYLUR

what happens if he ” accidentally ” gave what he has and knows to someone else? Then that person just happens to complete the work and upload it ?

    • DaAnimeOtaku

      i agree. :)
      i think we need a successor!! :D

  • D-TeK-DeV

Well here’s Sony’s bulls%#!& again. I hope their fking company closes due to too many complainers.

    • Yoshi King

Oh yes, they’ll close down alright due to the many complaints made by people who illegally download games for their products. Making them not only make a tad bit more money, but also giving the developers their fare share of the profit for THEIR hard work

And don’t you give me that bull about “I just wanna play the backups I made for my PSP” because I doubt you have games that are 6.36 anyways and why would you want backups if you have the game already?

Be happy they made you a PSP to play with… They do this to protect and make sure themselves and developers get money to support the system

      • D-TeK-DeV

I really don’t like to argue over the internet, but I have no choice to because of this fronting post of yours. I didn’t say a darn thing about “I just wanna play the backups I made for my PSP” and NO ONE has a game for 6.36 yet. Don’t take out all your hate and bull on me because you see alot of people pirating games. The only thing I want to do with my PSP is use plugins and homebrews. I don’t pirate games. Keep that in your head about me and make sure you don’t quote another one of my post of this immature foolishness.. Plus I was about to take back what I said about them, cause I have some of their products that are useful such as my PSP. If you want to take out all your pain on everyone for pirating games, make a website about it.

      • Yoshi King

I’m sorry for what I said earlier, friend. It seemed from your comment that you only use the psp for iso (Liquidzigong’s cfw tweak is mostly used for that). I know that.

Again, the comment you made sounded like those impolite Neanderthals who only use the psp to pirate games, and not for the splendorous homebrew it offers.

I’m sorry for everything I said, it was all just a misunderstanding.

    • ColorblindMonk

…Then we’d have nothing to hack. We sure showed them!

  • shiNsei

Umm, I’m not sure but.. someone got a hold the latest Prometheus.

  • ColorblindMonk

Oh shame. Now we have to buy games again. Complaining over being unable to steal PSP software does not make for a compelling argument.

It’s Sony’s hardware. Hacking and exploits to run homebrew isn’t that much a problem to them, as they simply put out an update, blocking out hitches in security. Either you update, or you don’t and be shunned from the PSN store and unable to play later games until you do. Prometheus impeded this little strategy. Monster Hunter is a big franchise in Japan, so I can see why they acted fast, with legal threats and all. Not everyone’s a pirate here, but as the rest of you know who you are. Looks like you’re not playing Monster Hunter for a while. Oh well. You signed up to be a pirate, after all. You bought the PSP, but the money and support comes from the developers. You can mess with your PSP, but pirating is what could eventually kill the PSP. Good job.

  • CF3esBestia

@Yoshi King Thank you for showing logic. I think its funny how people complain about Sony not allowing them easier to steal games..hahah
Glad there are still people who can show discernment.

    • CF3esBestia

I mean making it easier; lol that was some bad grammar.

    • D-TeK-DeV

      i agree.

      • Yoshi King

FIrst thing: I hope D-TeK-DeV can forgive me :(

Second thing: I really hate how people complain and hate on Sony JUST because they can’t play their god damn ISOs… all I can say is buy the game you ungrateful little pieces of garbage.

I have a PSP and a PSP Go, I bought all my UMDs and all my PSN games, it’s just that my UMD collection has some of the best games (Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7, etc) for the system. Knowing how crisp, sharp, and colorful my games’ll be on the PSP Go would be awesome.

Buy the games people, if you can’t get it get a job. You think your life sucks because you don’t get pirated games? Well I hope your favorite game developers go out of business because of you

      • D-TeK-DeV

I forgive you man. I never thought about what I had from Sony when I made that post.

  • D-TeK-DeV

The only most lame excuses most people have to pirate games is saying “I don’t live in that country”. I think games are mostly shipped everywhere since they have a region code on the back of the game cases.

    • Yoshi King

It’s as if no one has heard of eBay

  • GIraffwing

    however!Prometheus V5 have done and promoted in china,now ! I

  • Fasih

Considering i sold my psp a while back after getting frustrated with trying to buy UMDs. I dont have any reason to post here, but… this is in reply to D-TeK-DeV and Yoshi King.

Yeah i suppose games are sold in all countries, but in some its kinda impossible to find a shop where they sell UMDs, I go to a shop, ask for PSP games and the person hands me a freaking DVD that has a pack of 4 to 6 PSP games… lol…

And well, e-bay doesn’t ship in Pakistan :(

anyways, no offense to either of you, i try not to support piracy, but its hell near impossible to buy original games here… all they sell are pirated CDs and DVDs… from music to movies to softwares and games…

    • shiNsei

Same thing happen at my place too,
There are more pirate games here than the original, well at least I can see lot of them before PS3 got jailbreak.

    • Yoshi King

I guess I didn’t see it from your perspective… Well at least you’re trying to support the developers? I know pirating is bad, but at least you’re trying. Kudos mate

    • D-TeK-DeV

Aww man. I guess the only website you can try is “play-asia”. Some of the prices are kinda high though. I hope this helps.

  • CF3esBestia

^yeah for NA and EU, theres no reason to be a software thief. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it.

    • Anonymous48284

Some people never intend to buy any software, and choose piracy for the punitive purpose. I personally use my PSP to do basic wardriving, but empathize with the Piraten movement, and all it implies.

Sony deserves all the shit it catches for the demon spawn to software known as SecuROM. That alone fuels enough rage to make me suggest CFW and piracy to others.

      piracy != thievery

Yeah tried play-asia, most of the prices there are TOO high…

You know the real funny part… even media player doesn’t support Pakistan, So, i can make an account to download demos, But i cant use a credit card there.
So in a rather indirect way, Sony is forcing piracy in some areas :p
