Half Byte Loader Rev 97 Stable with wMenu 0.3 Released.

Share

Rev 97 Stable with wMenu version 0.3 has been released. More progress and changes all for the better from and the team. Quite a few bugfixes present and a new wMenu version that allows the use of sub folders, so you can split up your homebrew now into categorized folders. The changelog is below and a video from showcasing the new rev 97 features.

Half Byte Loader Rev 97 Stable changelog:

  • First, a graphical glitch has been fixed. Because of that, Homebrews such as PSP Rhythm were technically unplayable (@Muffinhead: you owe me). Others such as FCEUltra or Doom had minor graphical issues because of this.
  • Additionally, I added a shortcut to quit homebrews that don’t have an “exit” button. Yes, the “home” button is still broken, but now you can exit most games by pressing select+start for a few seconds. (Note that some homebrews such as gpsp still crash upon exiting, this is unrelated). The “select+start” combination can be changed in the hbl config file, or even customized for each homebrew (as usual, by putting a hbl_config.txt file in the homebrew’s folder)
  • The distrib version now ships with wMenu 0.3, which allows you to navigate in subfolders, so you can now split your homebrews in several folders if you use wMenu
  • Other minor bugs were fixed, which shouldn’t make any visible difference (check the changelog included for details)

You need  a PSP with 5.50, 5.55, 5.70, 6.00, 6.10 or 6.20 firmware, the Papaton 2 demo, the save game data exploit and of course the latest HBL revision. You can download them all below.

How to use the Half Byte homebrew loader:

  1. Download and install the Patapon 2 demo to your MemoryStick or /Mass Memory (PSP Go)
  2. Download the HBL revision 96 and copy the “hbl” directory and the “h.bin” file to memory root
  3. Now copy the hacked save data folder UCUS98732_DATA02 to /PSP/SAVEDATA
  4. Move any homebrew you want to play or try to the folder: /PSP/GAME
  5. Start the Patapon 2 demo and load the hacked save game, then load your homebrew from the HBL menu ;)

I really need some help. I know this thread is on HBL but is ther any chance someone can tell me step by step on how to install PSP Legacy on my psp go? I have the current version on HBL on it and has OFW 6.20. I can get most everything but Legacy to run and I have the wad. files becausae I own the original games. Please help? :(

    • hacktester

Who did give you the information that PSP Legacy actually works on HBL?I think that wololo clearly explained in read me that some homebrews will not start at all.I cant find it on the official HBL compatible list,so mostly it does not work…

      • dark collector

Well I guess its not legacy that I wanted. But I did see a video that Doom can run on HBL unless the video was a fake but it seem to be real. I saw it on youtube. Any help would be great if possible. I just would love to be able to play Doom on my PSP Go :)

      • hacktester

Lol … You can get Doom separetly by the other games which are in PSP Legacy(like Heretic, for example).Just look for Doom PSP and sure you’ll find it since its a very known homebrew…

      • hacktester

Darn! Looks like I still need to work on my english…I meant separately

    • Khassenpspgo

Dont use PSP legacy doesnt work. Use this program: two links just in case one doesnt work.
      http://www.mediafire.com/?bw1v9mk3i85a253
      http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8O0GBS2T
these link give u a program with updated emus that should work on the HBL. the newest wasnt uploaded yet but it get up there fast. you will find in the download homebrews seperate Hexan, Doom, and Heretic, but its better to use the doom 1.4 cause u can loaded doom 2 wad.

  • Genocide

This cool but is the 6.31 ever going to be released?

    • hacktester

If Mamosuke will succed in porting the HBL to 6.31,then mostly yes.But no one knows when.

  • zebular

having really strange problems with this release…. Masterboy and Dgen keep acting like I’m pressing a button. Masterboy is registering that I’m continually holding Down and Dgen keeps acting like I continually press Select, however, when i press start in Dgen and the game is paused the menu doesn’t automatically pop up like select was pressed

    • zebular

my mistake, picodrive not Dgen…. Dgen doesn’t work at all

      • hacktester

        I have a solution.You need to comment in hbl_config.
I’ll show you how in some steps:
-Go to the hbl folder, and open hbl_config
        -You wil find somewhere force_exit_buttons=0×000009
-Comment there by pressing the # button,so it should look like #force_exit_buttons=0×000009.
Note:The forced exit to the wMenu will NOT work anymore, but instead some homebrews will be able to use the exit from the menu again. For example, you cant use Picodrive’s Exit option if you dont comment force_exit_buttons=0×000009,but you will be able to if you comment. One more thing:You can make a copy of hbl_config and throw it into the homebrew’s folder. This way you will be able to comment only on the homebrews you want, but I bet there are more than theese two.
